WAKESURF EDGE vs. SWELL WAKESURF - WHAT'S BETTER?

- I picked these two wake shapers for a wake surf comparison. I'm using a 2008 VLX Malibu Wakesetter. We put the Wakesurf Edge up against the Swell Wakesurf. This will work on any Mastercraft, Ski Supreme, Ski Natique, Momba or any wakeboard boat. Please click the like button if you like this and follow our page for future boat content.
This is a perfect video to show why we pay to have a boat for 49 weeks a year, to enjoy for 3! The PRICELESS footage of your precious baby girl, imitating your hand movements, then jumping in like a beast tells it all. As a father, and grandfather that has taught hundreds of skiers and boarders the sport for over 50 years, THIS IS WHAT ITS ALL ABOUT!!!! Beautiful!!! Hell buy them both! WHO CARES? What Sammie thinks is the important thing!!!!! HIT IT PAPA!!!
Sammie is hardcore. Swinging her leg out to feel the wake.
Keep making videos.
That scene with Sammie is a million bucks! Nice work!
Priceless! Keep making those memories dad! I get excellent results using the Swell
Nicely done Sir, I'm looking to get one of these for my boat.
It’s crazy that the malibus now with the 22 lsv wakesetter which I’ve gone on can get nice Wales with trim tabs on the side
Great video without Sammie, but WITH SAMMIE?? …The BEST I’VE SEEN!!🏄🏻♀️
I would have loved to see a control without that wedge on there. Also, consider fixing the camera to the boat next time! But either way it's a good looking wake! I'm looking at getting an 08 vtx right now so this is helpful.
Good review and cute helper
I have a 2008 Seadoo Challenger SE that does NOT have a ballast system. Will either of these products work without it? Thank you!
Great comparison. Great demo.
Highlights:
" I need help holding this one down cause it's too floaty ".
🤔 too buoyant.?? (just kidding)
I know outboards are too dangerous.
Do they make a system that can be used on a jet drive boat as longs as you use sacks with it.??
Thank you for sharing this info with us, it helps a lot.
I believe Yamaha makes a device that hooks right below the swim deck on the opposite side of the surfer. I believe it’s called a Yamaha wake booster, I’m not sure if it’ll work on any other jet drive other than their own
The dragon is the best!!! killer video I'll be looking for you this summer #dragonsurfers......
Sammie’s expression at 8:05 trying to copy u 😍 great review! Got the swell wakesurf one :)
My buddy had the WakeSurf edge one and picked up the Swell. Worked better. He had a MXZ 2012 Malibu.
What is the angle that these deflect the water away from the boat? Hopefully that question makes sense. If you have the bubble level app on your phone you can find it by setting the device on a flat surface and holding your phone on the face of the surfe device. Thanks for your help and the video.
Close to 45 degrees.
@@btuff thanks for responding. They are both about 45° so the main difference is just the size of the deflection plat right?
Were you using any ballast ?
Family love, nothing more powerful
Do you need a ballast tank for this to work? If not is there a work around?? Thx
You can use fat sacs
?? Sand bags?
@@connerbreck7331 I would use water ballast. When water hits the surface of the water it stops sinking. Lead, sand will keep sinking like a brick.
I would love it if you showed where you actually placed the wake shaper?
On the Malibu VLX 2008 there is a rail it needs to go under. I mounted it just under. If it's too high is splashes over the top. If it's too low, the wave isn't that good.
Approximately how far from the back of the boat?
As far back as you can and with the top edge at surface level.
thanks!
Is it possible to use these on something other than a wakeboard boat such as a deck boat with a fairly large wake to start with?
I'm wondering this as well, also could it be done on an inboard/outboard?
You will probably need to buy some sacks. The boat needs to list to the wave side a little. But, yes
@@btuff define "sacks"
Can you go faster than 10 MPH I know there on suction cups so what's the fastest you can take these
The speed has nothing to do with the suction cups. Normally wakesurfing speeds are anywhere from 9 to 15 mph. 15mph being a lot of the big 400hp boats. All boats have a different sweet spots, that's why his is 10.8mph. Very exact number. Mine is 11.4mph. Going faster does not make a better wake for surfing.
Is that lake nacimiento
Cool Vid! Sammie Rocks!
Is it possible to use these on a tinny or dinghy?
No because you shouldn't be wake surfing behind an open prop. Super dangerous.
Do u need to have a wake boat ?
You need weight and inboard
Is it possible to use a device like this on a sea doo jet ski?
No
What board are you riding?
Ronix Thruster. Really good board.
Did you have any ballast in your boat at the time?
yes, 900 LR 700RR 250 LR seat 800 nose

You definitley want the swell. You can see the edge makes a bugger curl at the back of the wave, giving it less push.

Sorry but Sammie stole the show!
