    • @immediateegret2120
      @immediateegret2120 8 ปีที่แล้ว +213

      Interesting thought! That would explain why PB considers them so powerful and dangerous, and potentially even why Moe might have tried to send them to Mars. If people wanted to colonize Mars, making sure they had an ample energy supply once they got there is a good idea.
      Not sure how to reconcile that with the fact that Moe apparently knew there was already a society on Mars since shooting nuclear reactors at them could obviously be perceived as an act of war. Maybe he didn't know it was an active society, and assumed it was empty/abandoned?

    • @mikeymod3665
      @mikeymod3665 7 ปีที่แล้ว +46

      Also, if they were nuclear reactors in disguise, wouldn't their destruction result in a larger, more cataclysmic explosion? I'm not an expert on nuclear physics (yet) but that assumption still holds weight, right?

      Mars is extremely cold. Maybe the plan was to melt it’s icecaps and spread warm water across the planet, making it habitable.

    The Fire Giants are obviously Pre War Military Robots - the door Fire Princess cuts through is a military blast door -
    The Fire Kingdom was a hotbed of Nuclear Detonations. The target was everything on top of the Fire Giants.

    I was under the impression that the Fire Giants were simply superweapons created by Moe before the Mushroom War kicked off, hence why in the legend they came hurtling out of the blue. Their explosions combined with the newly released magic in the world to create the Fire Kingdom and it's people. Regarding Moe spotting the Martian society, that's probably the case.

  • @lucariomew358_2
    @lucariomew358_2 8 ปีที่แล้ว +628

    This new theory makes total sense. But, I'm more interested in the king of Mars himself. I'm still fuzzy on the details but hasn't the show implied that he actually was the same Abe Lincoln that was a US president at some point or another. There was even Martian lore that implied that Abe Lincoln was some kind of ascended ancient Earthling, who eventually came to Mars and was basically crowned God King of the planet. My guess is that in his free time he still lived on earth and eventually became a US president. after his supposed death he just decided to live on Mars permanently. So when he sacrificed himself to save Jake (by becoming mortal), all Death had to do was allow the original gunshot to finally be able to kill him in the present. Or alternatively perhaps Lincoln did not become are US president until after he sacrificed himself for Jake. This would mean that he was made Mortal and transported into the past became US president and then was killed.

    • @uncivilizedelk
      @uncivilizedelk  8 ปีที่แล้ว +100

      He's on the penny, he turns into the statue, and as you said he gives up his immortality with a gunshot sound in the background, so yeah - it seems he very well may have been the US President somehow at some point. There's so many endless possibilities when it comes to that level of "magic" and we don't have that much information about Lincoln to actually craft decent assumptions. In the video, I just wanted to stress that Lincoln existing many thousands of years ago isn't a problem in any way, because obviously he's based on the historical Lincoln but stretched across time and space.
      Of course if you assume Gunter's flashback montage was a continuity error that screwed the timeline up, everything becomes much "cleaner" in a way, but when has Adventure Time ever been clean?

      @ngtmarco7860 8 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      +Uncivilized Elk the creators arent perfect, yes. this timeline is either flawed or we just dont have enough info. at first i thought that abe asked moe a favor that is to build that dome. but i would go with ur theory about how he was studying instead of building the dome.

    You missed one appearance, look at the guardian protecting the islands where the last humans live, I suspect that Mo was trying to build a shelter, based on the Mars dome, however, considering the technology we see in those brief clips, I kind of suspect that this was BEFORE the mushroom war. The notable stonehenges that appear in the window might also imply that Mo is far older than you think. And considering Ooh has a massive upheaval every thousand years, the time frame of ancient egypt to the mushroom war may not be all that long

    • @partysuvius
      @partysuvius 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This could be in an alternate universe where Earth didn’t lose nearly 1000 years of technological development, and nuclear war happened in a time closer to Abe Lincoln’s life some 200 years ago in our time.

    I kinda feel that due to the Martians relying on Grob Gob Glob and Grod with a sword to strike down Orgalorg, that they didn't have as advanced technology and that it grew alongside earth. Therefore, when the time came for the Martian society to develop into a dense inhabited area, they required more science to sustain them and Abe Lincoln with his omniscience contacted Moe, as detailed in your theory. Also, the volcanic landscape might have been created by the huge amounts of augmented rocket fuel to power them.

      Patrick Hughes a God with a flaming space sword is too primitive for you? Adventure Time is all about swords my dude, I think GGGG is about as advanced as it gets. Magic and science go hand in hand in this show, so the sword is only pertinent.

    @isaacdavis4108 8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    I think the timeline in adventure time is actually quite a bit shorter than it's talked about in the show. It is possible when characters talk about time it convoluted and mixed up because of lost knowledge and the drastic changes in the earth's landscape. For instance, the wizards are using advanced technology but they have no idea how they are doing what they are doing. Maybe the story of orgalorg was much later in time like after the mushroom war, but it was forgotten by humans. There are so many possibilities with this show

      @@Argos_RB As she developed throughout the show, she eventually learned the things she did was bad. People can change and become better. She was born from a hivemind, always with others, and when she separated, with her brother Neddy, she had to make all the decisions, since Neddy was so sensitive to the world, that he couldnt understand or comprehend it without fear. So she made a family for herself, Who all are little parts of her. Aunt Lolly was her kindness, Cousin Chile was the life of the party, and Uncle Gumbald was her smarts, wits, and need for control. Gumbald wanted to be in control, and planned to use Dumdum juice on Bonnie to make her dumber, and more innocent, which, she felt betrayed, as her only source of familial love was shattered. They became the first candy people, and her mentality was shown.. ".. Well.. Now they aren't fighting.. they seem happier this way.." Her initial exposure as a child led up to how she was as an adult- A very Obsessive, Controlling, and Mildly Manipulative Princess, as she used the Dumdum juice as an extract to create the rest of her candy kingdom, who she intentionally made less smart than they should have been, so she could keep them in tabs, and wouldnt worry about betrayal. In this, however, over time, she learns that it isn't always going to work. The stress eats at her, and she learns that, her old tactics, and her methods, aren't working. So she questions whether or not theyre good methods. Its fascinating, since Bonnibel never had the opportunity to ever think "is this the wrong way to go about this" since nothing had ever questioned or put it in question. She had no clue it was -wrong- to start with. It comes to a point when she develops enough to allow the candy kingdom to develop on its own, without her control, and starts to relinquish any need for it, that she starts to become a better person. No, she didnt start as a good character, and over time, from what we learned, she was honestly not a good person. But we cant hate people forever. As people become better, change, grow, and are kinder, and learn from their mistakes, we need to be able to learn to forgive and accept. Of course, we dont have to. Its up to the individual to forgive. But The chance is there. When people learn to become better, to be better, the chance should be given to allow them to grow and be kind. But thats my take.

    The fire giants obviously aren't rockets though, they're asymmetrical, not aerodynamic, are not uniform in design and do not appear to have any dexterity in their limbs. Also people tend not to launch multiple rockets to do the same job at the same time.
    It's highly doubtful that they were ever intended to move themselves through conventional space time.

    This is so awesome. I love your theory videos so much, especially when more comes out to support them. Like the fact that according to Distant Lands before BMO met Finn & Jake he was supposed to go to Mars, and he was bringing food with him, which is something that he wouldn't need for himself. It would also make sense that Moe sent BMO after the Fire Giants because they were shot down and he knew strength wasn't the way, so he went with love, hince sending BMO. If only Olive hadn't interrupted BMO then we'd know for sure, but then again if she hadn't the entire space situation would have been destroyed and it's quite possible Tree Trunks would have never met her Space Husband and Princess Bubblegum would have never been able to get her ships to the alien planet to keep the Candy Kingdom going after its demise on Ooo, and who knows maybe the Grey Princess wouldn't be on Ooo 1000+ having tea with Shermy and Beth.

    I really like this theory, because it explains a lot of the lore more precisely than the forums I've seen on the Internet.
    However there is one thing I would disagree on, and that is intent. In the same way that one does not meet a neighboring country with a huge army for a welcome party, I do not believe Moe created the Giants for a "hello to Mars!" reason. If Moe could somehow glance past their forcefields, could he not also send a message past them, in a form they could understand? Moe is a human, and humans are notorious for bringing weapons to colonize neighboring beings. I believe the diagram of the Martian landscape was for tactical reasons, and the Giants in order to attack Mars. I mean, earth was probably fairly crummy, what with the sudden destruction of humanity and nuclear fallout + winter. It's possible he sent the Giants to conquer Mars so that he could live in their super society away from the troubles of Earth. After that, I totally agree with the rest of your theory!

      I agree, PB is fears for her kingdom and its ability to defend against the fire giants. To the point of nearly killing the people of the fire kingdom to force them to look to her for help so she can get close enough to disable them. If you really wanted to say hi, youd send a spaceship with something like moe to say hello. Not fleet of robots that may or may not hold potentially atomic weapons, or any weapons for that matter. If they can create the fire kingdom, it means they turn any kingdom into a volcanic landscape.

    Great theory! In my mind, it’s canon. I think that Moe’s character is a wholesale reference to another person from a work of post-apocalyptic fiction:
    Isaac Edward Leibowitz from A Canticle for Leibowitz. Both he and Moe are:
    •Jewish
    •Electrical engineers and good with mechanics
    •Survive a violent apocalypse
    •Live in the desert
    •Don’t necessarily save the world themselves, but lay the groundwork for others to do so.
    •Want their knowledge to live on after they are gone.

    My headcanon is that Abe went on a mission to earth in a vain attempt to kill gunter to avoid him causing chaos on earth via atomic warfare. This resulted in him getting shot and basically saying fuck you people...
    OR the atomic bomb had some sort of magical booster that warped reality, causing historical figures to be resurrected and scattered to the winds of time

    Related to the episode, I have some serious problems with PB. I love her because she is cool and geeky and rules her people really well. However, I also hate her because she is so manipulative and single minded! She actually weakened the fire people for her own gains! But then again, she loves each and every one of her candy people! Does anyone else have this problem?

    • @apay1666
      @apay1666 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I would like to see the Peacemaster reappear. Also, PB seems totally okay with Peppermint Butler doing this crazy stuff. ven though PB cares deeply about her people, she still lets Pep Butts do all his creepy stuff, like possessing Cinnamon Bun with a demon. Then we see her interact with Marceline and it is obvious that they have a really deep friendship and we see that PB actually has a heart. She is a really complex character and I think that, despite the constant troubles that she causes by overlooking something (I.e, Treetrunk's space family) she really does care about her subjects.

    • @apay1666
      @apay1666 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes... maybe he was a demon that possessed a candy person. Because, as we see in The Vault, a younger version of Pep Butts presents Shoko with her new arm. Since PB is building her kingdom and we have the earlier versions of the banana guards and the first appearance of the gumball guardians, we can presume that that was when Peppermint Butler was created. With all those years between Shoko and Finn, Peppermint Butler still being around, there is a possibility that something went wrong along the way. Peppermint Butler is still one of my favorite candy people though. Starchy and Cinnamon Bun included.

      Imagine you've got about thirty puppies in your arms. And you let them play in a little playpen. But imagine those Puppis never grow old, and are forever puppies, constantly trying to eat things they shouldn't and trying to get out, even if it means they might fall and crack their head open and die. You'd want to protect them. And if basicly every other person you knew when you were younger had betrayed you or lied to you in some way, your be wary about wanting to even let the puppies become smarter. And even if theres someone with a bunch of guns next door, even if that person hasent done anything wrong before, you'd want to get rid of the guns, just in case the off chance that someone could use them against your puppies would happen. Just in case. And along the way, you'd become obsessed with protecting your Puppies, going in and out of stages where you're borderline psycho to protect them(all bublegums spy cameras and killing flame princesses fire giants), and when its just all become so much that you don't even have the energy to care for a while(when the king of Ooo took over the castle and bublgum was just like 'fine screw you all I'll just live in my log cabin for a break)
      Idk I just really like bubblegum and personally can see logic in everything she does, weather that logic is because of past betrayals or just how her personality works.

      I think the biggest point the show is trying to make is that PB is trying to be a great and strong ruler but is really just a little girl grown up too fast. They are trying to show the human element to ruling a people. Honestly if you ever get to a position of power you might just realize how stupid us humans are. We are rarely so different from the candy people

    I'm curioous about learning more about Moe himself. I like to imagine that he had a human son, and Amo got jealous of him and decided to leave or sneak around the factory unnoticed(explains all the symbols like "Love Me" writen on the vents in "that room in the factory"). Mo, not knowing where Amo was, then created BMO to be friends with his son... and well. Amo probally got more and more jealous of this.
    I really like this part of the story alot. It's nothing grand, but it was vague enough to make me take it apart and make a theory like this.

    For years there was a really popular theory that there WAS a living society on Mars! It began in 1877 when Giovanni Schiaperelli thought he saw "canals" on the red planet. Astronomers would report that new ones were being "built" all the time.
    Maybe this just turned out to be true in Adventure Time.

    There are some continuity errors that could be attributed to accidents but personally I've always wondered if some of the events shown retrospectively in adventure time are of a different time all together. (Westworld s1 spoiler>) Narratives are sometimes revealed to the audience out of chronological sequence such as all the events shown in Westworld occurring at two different points in time. One key theme of adventure time is occurrences being cyclic such as the catalyst comet, or the primary governing forces in pre mushroom war earth and adventure time earth clashing and waging a war that would threaten the planet. Moe could have been around for millennia, surviving through each cycle and creating the Mars society before the events of orgalorgs banishment to earth. This show is so much fun to talk and think about.

    I think the Bubble blueprint in Moe’s lab was maybe a replacement one built on Earth before the Mushroom War and towed to Mars after the first one was destroyed by GOLB in the process of taking Margles from Magic Man. The Fire Giants just towed the Bubble to Mars and malfunctioned on the way back crashing into what would become the Fire Kingdom because of the Mushroom War taking out what could have been Mission Control which were controlling the Giants.

  • @natalieorr9216

    Other possible explanation: Mo DID plan Mars and all that, and once it was done, Abraham Lincoln used some sort of magic/science to make it exist throughout the past, present, and future. It may be a slight stretch, but seeing how little we know of the lore, it could be a possibility.

    Before watching, what I think:
    1) the Martian society has been there for *at least* a thousand years.
    2) both Moe and BMO are younger than that.
    So, probably Moe was just studying their technology and trying to replicate their nuclear source of energy.
    Now, probably it either a) went wrong and Moe gave up on it; or b) it served Moe's purpose, which had been to help the incipient fire people all the time.

    ack! that's a blueprint! a blueprint has a very specific connotation- of planning, of design! I CANNOT see it as an observational drawing! the king of mars existing for thousands of years prior to Mo doesn't necessarily mean the society and thusly their need for Mo's city matches the King of Mars' age! Remember Glob/Grod/whatevers diologue with Finn when he's deciding to avert the "catalyst comet"- he implies that the "super society" on Mars is one of his creation and development- I would look to a collaboration between Mo, GGGG, and the King of Mars during Mo's hey day. The first theory is sound- sharp eye and good work!~!

  • @DrTimes99

    I think that that you are forgetting that the mushroom war wasn't a single event. It was a war. I find it much more likely that Mow was contracted to build the fire giants as some sort of weapon to fight in the mushroom war, but something went wrong and the crashed down to earth, killing civilians and creating the fire kingdom. In his shame, Moe became a recluse, hiding in his factory. I agree that the blue prints are based off of what Moe saw on Mars,however, I think they served a different purpose. The Mars Dome blue prints, may have been designed as a new dome for humans on earth to live, protecting them from the mutated world. But Moe never built it because of his despair.

  • @pluppins3758

    I always thought they just made oxygen, because fire needs oxygen and such a large kingdom of fire would need a large amount of oxygen. The reason they seem to turn off with a whoosh when the energy core is extracted is because the oxygen in the system is let go. They weren't really meant to take too much damage because they were just storage. I thought the story that fire princess tells us was a bit far-fetched since they break easily and that it was embellished as time went by.

    Pre Mushroom War, Mars wouldn't need a cloaking device, per se, just a way to make it seem like something that could easily be explained away as a camera artifact or some such. Maybe the fire giants didn't have anything to do with mars but was a result of an arms race on Ooo. One country creating the bomb and another country's response was fire giants.
    When the bomb was launched the fire giants were used as retaliation. The Candy kingdom has a lot of radiation while the other kindoms don't seem to be affected as much. So it would seem that the bomb could have been launched from the Fire kingdom and in return the candy kingdom launched their fire giants at the Fire kingdom, or even the reverse could've happen.
    This would explain why they descended from the sky and why there are only a few surviving fire giants. As some would've likely been destroyed in the act of creating the Fire kingdom.
