I've owned a F5+ before my current Vantage V. I do agree that the high end Garmins have more features, but I don't agree that Garmin is the undisputed better choice. I've found the integrated advice (based on recovery pro or nightly recharge and training load) very valuable. The HRV score on Garmin (which is. the basis for the body battery) was inaccurate for me, it always said I had lots of resources left which was often not the case. I don't mind that Polar shows less. data than Garmin, as I didn't use most of. the data presented by Garmin. Obviously neither are bad, but most reviews seem to be skewed towards number of features in stead of how they are made.
I completely understand what you’re saying. While using the polar I almost wanted to appreciate the simplicity of it all, but I just found myself wishing it was more capable, in some ways. I guess I do use more of the Garman functions more often than I realized when switching between the two, and I did feel like some of the Polar functions were glitchy or laggy, so that affected how I felt about them additionally. For me the screen visibility was a problem as well, so maybe that skewed my sentiment towards it all. Great points all around, thank you for sharing them!

@@fitgearhunter For me, its a big deal, since its very demotivating to be training hard, while the watch says "no training status" or "detraining". And unf none will track martial arts in a specific way, but Garmin has many, many more stats you can load onto the watch's workout data screens you can use. Good luck!
I know it's a year old question, but still ;)) imho, for martial arts you can use Polar h10 with Polar beat. You can start a workout on the Polar beat app and the H10 will record all the hr data in its internal memory and then sync it to the app. So, you can start the workout, lock your phone in a locker, than do all the jumping, kicking and heavy breathing with only your chest strap on. what stats are available on garmin forerunner 945 related to strength training compared with polar ? Vo2 max should be calculated when doing activities related to running. Also i know that most of other features are based on vo2 max. Does this parameter takes into consideration also strength training ? thanks
Hey! No, VO2 Max is only set by running or biking unfortunately. For the 945 the strength training app will take into account your heart rate over the course of the workout and assess how intense the workout was relative to your VO2 Max from running or biking, but unfortunately there is not a current measure for how to get VO2 max from a generic cardio workout, so no watch manufacturers have it as an analytical option unfortunately
@@fitgearhunter Thank you for the answer. So in order to use these devices we still need to do running related activities otherwise it doesn't track so much . While on the polar device the training load and recovery features are related to all activities?
@@robertopopitanu that’s a great question, and one I have pointed out in a number of reviews. To fully activate Garmin‘s training status, which represents whether you are growing/ declining/ maintaining fitness, you have to go on at least a five minute run using the running sport profile twice a week initially and then just once a week after that. The VO2 Max is what they use to determine how your overall training is growing your fitness

ive had polar vv2 for 2 weeks. I find it not accurate in pace during running when I check my watch? it either becomes very slow pace 2min difference for a km or extremly fast 1min/km faster than my normal speed. and even when I wear the polar h10 strap, I find the heartrate varies a lot during different day even for the same routes same distance. one day it tells me the avg hr around 120 and the other day almost 140. currently im running 70-80km/week. also, it gives me the heart rate of 60bpm after I deadlifting 60kg for 10 reps, which I really doubt since that's 1.2 times my bodyweight, heart rate could not be that low. wonder if any one has the same issue?
Hello and thanks for sharing! That makes no sense if you were connected to a chest strap. Are you getting a blue circle around the heart rate number indicator before you start the workout? That indicates that the H 10 is properly connected and is flowing through the heart rate for the workout. And you must not be wearing the chest wrap during your deadlifting activity. I often found the heart rate for flex or straight across the rest was more in accurate and could barely keep up with more intense lifting sessions. Did you see the optical heart rate review for the Vantage V2 I made? I’ll find it for you
Thanks for this great video. I would like to ask a quick question. I have an arrhythmia and have been on beta blockers for twenty years. According to the advice of my cardiologist, I practice running regularly, it helped me a lot and I was able to reduce my medication always according to my doctor's advice. For a complete follow-up of the shape and the heart, you recommend which watch? A Vantage V2 or a 745 for example? Hello from Germany ^^
Hey! That is great. So glad you have found stabilization of things and a strengthening. I would probably recommend the 245 or 745 since they track Heart Rate variability all day, and include pulse ox tracking for nightly oxygen estimates. They also include training analytics and tracking of your exercise load over time alongside your VO2 Max, all of which will help you know you are continually getting stronger. That’s great to hear you’ve found success with exercise. Keep it up!
Ha thanks! Honestly they are both good at sleep tracking! I like how polar summarizes things better, but how Garmin tracks your HRV all day (versus just 4 hours of night by polar). BUT - if comparing watches head to head the Garmin offers infinitely more value and capabilities. Hope that helps!
Thinking about it! But it lacks training analysis and ability to connect to a chest strap, so it’s not a great contender for me, although everything I’ve read about it otherwise is great.
Hi, another question, in your video you mentioned that garmin body battery and their new sleep metrics is more encompassing for recovery tracking because they take in the full days stress to come up with the score where as polar doesnt. So I was looking into the white paper of polar recovery and from what i understood the ANS metric, which is weighted primarily on the HRV impact relative to your historical, would be actually directly measuring your previous days stress impact just in a different methodology, as you would expect the HRV fluctuation to be directly impacted by the stresses of the day. And even though it is just a 4 hour window, the white paper claims that based on their research this is the most critical window to determine the impact to the metrics. did you ever notice much difference in the metrics Polar vs Garmin assigned for you the next day and how much load can be handled?
I am asking polar for this . Otherwise it is not enough for day to day use. I hope Polar adds in a 4hours average heart rate In the watch display. This way I can checked my “ energy” from my 4 hours average heart rate. If it is average at the 70% range of my max heart rate , I need to take rest. currently I am eyes Average my hr from the polar flow Hr graph. It is very clumsy. As we know Garmin has 4 hours hr graph on the watch display and the body battery. Other watches has the 4 hour Hr graph too.
It is also important to note that the V2 is rather new and Polar will likely have Updates to it and Hopefully add features to it, like they did with the first line of Vantage watches.
@@carlogaytan7010 agree! I have send my comment to polar. Polar has to have the daily tool such as the 4 hour average heart rate. Garmin, Coros, suunto, and even Huawei already heart rate graph in their watch. Polar is lacked in covering this area. Just hope they make a move.
Garmin just released an updated sport profile that will track mountain biking in greater depth than any others. It’s on the 945 and Fenix 6 I know for sure - so I think the 945 would be the best out there, because it’s at a cheaper price point, and had full scale maps built in. Thanks!

Too bad you couldn't show all of the features polar offers . Little bit of a biased review there . With polar there is cardio load muscle load and perceived load along with orthostatic test. Owning a garmin myself I agree with alot of what you say but its not fair to omit some or polars features just because garmin doesn't offer them. For running polar is my choice their adaptive plans are amazing . For fitness fitspark its handy for casual fitness. Garmin no question is the more versatile watch tho and if I was only in the gym would be my choice too
Yes I can see what you’re saying - I didn’t mean for it to be biased, but in using both for a long time I just continued to feel like there is so so much more offered on the Garmin. I do like Polar’s solution, but feel it’s too lacking in depth and features. I never found perceived load to add any value and the muscle load only really applied to running I thought - not the types of workouts I was reviewing it for. Wasn’t trying to omit anything but I’ll be more conscious of it in the future. Thanks!
Hey again! I haven’t studied the resting heart rate or general heart rate (outside of workouts) comparisons of the two so it’s hard to say. Garmin performed better in the workout tests I found though. Thanks for commenting!
Fit Gear Hunter my fenix 6x always off compare with grit x and vantage v. So I end up using the grit x, but without the body battery or the 4 hours heart rate, it really make polar incomplete.

Yep - I 100% agree. It’s super suspicious that the price just dropped on Amazon. I’m seriously hoping they do - it would be a great move for them because then they would be covering pretty much the whole line. The venu SQ, the 745, the Fenix 6 solar, and hopefully now the 955

The VO2 Max is what they use to determine how your overall training is growing your fitness
1st...btw...how many watches do you a
Have?
I have a f6x sap...would like a second device but feel like the new garmin recovery features using a different watch screws the metrics...
No I think it enhances it! Granted, they just released it so it will evolve over time, but they are the first manufacturer to take into account multiple aspects into the recovery time countdown.
And I have two main watches that I use against test watches. No big collection here.
I have two garmins...the everything transfers but body battery and recovery hours...probably sleep too need to check.
So maybe garmin will fix this so changing device is seemless
@@patkob2180 well said that’s exactly right, it all syncs via physio true up or whatever it’s called. But those aspects you’ve listed don’t. Good point.
ive had polar vv2 for 2 weeks.
I’ll find it for you
Here it is:

Keep it up!
Which ones are better at monitoring sleep and giving more sleep analysis? P.S. Cool dumbbells in the background.
Ha thanks! Honestly they are both good at sleep tracking! I like how polar summarizes things better, but how Garmin tracks your HRV all day (versus just 4 hours of night by polar). BUT - if comparing watches head to head the Garmin offers infinitely more value and capabilities. Hope that helps!
If you could do a review on the TicWatch Pro 3 that would be awesome to see what you think
Thinking about it! But it lacks training analysis and ability to connect to a chest strap, so it’s not a great contender for me, although everything I’ve read about it otherwise is great.
Fit Gear Hunter Thank you for your response. Which watch do you think is best for tracking calisthenics training ?
@@pedrocortesgarcia1999 honestly both of these would, it’s whether you want the longer list of features on the Garmin. Good question!
Hello from spain !!
In your opinion
What is the best, Vantage v2 or Garmin fr945 ???
Thank you very much.
Hey! Great question. The 945 is best - by far. Like not even really a comparison in my opinion. Thanks!
@Fit Gear Hunter any input here?
@Kingkckc could link me up with that research study bro? Thanks!
Yes good point. Many have it. That’s a good point. Hopefully they will add it!
I have Garmin Fenix 6 PRO with STRYD 🦶 pod and Polar H10 ❤️ strap and it’s amazing 🤩
That’s great to hear! So glad you are having success with it all - sounds like an excellent pairing!

Hi what is the best watch for doing crossfit and mountain bike.
Garmin just released an updated sport profile that will track mountain biking in greater depth than any others. It’s on the 945 and Fenix 6 I know for sure - so I think the 945 would be the best out there, because it’s at a cheaper price point, and had full scale maps built in. Thanks!
Fit Gear Hunter good and what includ the new update ?
@@francisgagnon6733 good question! It just updated to include new stats. From the website - have you checked it out there?:
MTB DYNAMICS
Track the details of every ride with mountain biking metrics plus specialized Grit™ and Flow™ measurements that rate trail difficulty and how smoothly you descend, giving you a score to beat next time.
Fit Gear Hunter good i will look for this thank you! And for the fr945 I looked on forums and a lot of people are said to have problems with bluetooth connectivity ... do you know if the bug is fixed ?
And also what is the best for crossfit betwen garmin fr945 or garmin venu ? Thank you
Time for a video on the 945 LTE!
Nice review. Do you have any plans to review the Ticwatch Pro 3?
Hey! So funny - another just asked. As I related to him too, thinking about it! But it lacks training analysis and ability to connect to a chest strap, so it’s not a great contender for me, although everything I’ve read about it otherwise is great.
Fit Gear Hunter Yeah. It doesn’t have training analysis. It’s an alternative to the Apple or Samsung Galaxy watches.
So v2 vs f6 (since it has the sleep) ...is a v2 worth it?
F6 all the way! Unless you want just the basic aspects of the PVV2. Totally
Ok great
Maybe the over 1 year old f6x is better than the new v2 ?
This sounds weird but I like wearing workout watches (i am a phys teacher)
Thanks!
The one thing which polar does better is the heart rate is more stable then Garmin.
I am waiting to see if Garmin will release the 955 before Christmas. What do you think about the odds of a release before Christmas? I would really like the bezel to get smaller and screen to get larger as I don’t like the weight of the f6.
Yep - I 100% agree. It’s super suspicious that the price just dropped on Amazon. I’m seriously hoping they do - it would be a great move for them because then they would be covering pretty much the whole line. The venu SQ, the 745, the Fenix 6 solar, and hopefully now the 955
But what could the 955 have that the f6 pro doesnt???? Or even the 945
Amazing review! thx a lot!
Thanks so much! Glad you feel it helped.
Great video. Thank you from Italy
Thanks for saying - hello to Italy, that’s great.
Thank u!!! Finally good reviews not focusing on the damn running bla bla bla stuff. Great job
Thanks so much! Really appreciate it!
Great Video TY
Sure thing - thanks!
Honestly, all those fitness and lifestyle data is so useless for me. It frustrates me a bit that I have to pay for all that bloat and a super advanced wrist HR I won't ever use just to get the battery life, GPS accuracy and build quality that I want. I don't have plenty money, but I run alot and need professional gear for that as my 235 really can't holt its battery together for a single Longrun of mine, and GPS accuracy is super floppy :/ well, I guess at least the polar one looks good even for its price, so that's what I tell myself to calm my nerves over those 500€...
Look at the Coros Pace 2 or Garmin 245! Yes the higher price of the 745 isn’t really justified I don’t think. Great comments
Try the new garmin instinct solar
