I've had my 2010 6 cyl for 14 years and I've had zero issues. It shifts like a dream and I've only had to replace the battery and brakes. I got it for around 36,000 and it's one of the best purchases I've ever made

I bought my 2012 in 17’ with 30k. Now in 2024 it has 70k. I love in car. It’s pearl white, when I’m walking away from it I always turn around. Look at it, it looks beautiful, I keep it spotless. I have it oil sprayed every fall, she’s a keeper. I also own a 2020 RAV4 limited premium, that’s also a joy, but I still love my VENZA limited with the V6 and the glass roof.

We were fortunate to inherit a 2014 Limited AWD V6 with under 80K kms (!) Yes, it resembles a big muscular wagon. Yes it suits older folks who need ease of access (3 knee replacements between my wife and I ). Yes it has power to spare, a great sound system, nice design and great reliability. Very pleased with ride and suspension but really, it's just broken in. Only minor complaint is the panoramic rear sunroof prevents roof racks from being used so we bought a rear hitch cargo rack for loaded road trips with luggage, food, pets etc. Venza's may be awkward to define but for us, it's like winning a lottery.

    • @trickrun

really no reason to put a full glass roof on a car....my only complaint on my 2013....but, yakima does make rack for it, got it, but the details on installing were wrong from yakima as far as where the towers go...and the depressed portion of roof by door where the towers go.

It was a “Crossover” like the Honda version was a crossover. Not sure where you got a 1,000lb tow limit maybe the 4 cylinder but the V6 was 3,500 or more. LOVE my 2010 V6 which has 124+k miles now. Besides regular maintenance i did change out the 20” rims to 18” 2023 Highlander rims. It is quieter and smoother and Tires cost much less then the 20” and I kept the same hight. Most people are impressed then I say its 2010.

I also own a 2007 Avalon with 260k miles that I paid $3200 6 years ago. They both have toyota reliability. I live in North Central Wisconsin and the rust is minimal, mainly the frame and zero on the body. My 2010 2.7L is blowing up at 216k.... big sad. I always loved the rear seats for designated driving, and I drove some Uber/Lyft in it and got so many compliments on the rear space. I slept in the back with the seats down more times than I can count! I made it through a mud pit even with FWD, just gotta take the right line and floor it lol, just enough ground clearance for camping/hiking/MTB access. But it always made super weird noises. So loud I always got comments from anyone who rode in or drove my car, but tons of "experts" all said it was a sound from a different part of the car, so no one will ever know what it was.

Only tows 1,000 lbs? You may have been referring to the 2.7L, 4 cyl version, as my '13 Venza V6 Limited (same engine as the one you reviewed there, although 2 yrs newer) is rated at 3500 lbs. Mine has fewer miles - 120k, and I'd say it handles more like a car. Had 70k on it when I got it used in '17. Maybe the review vehicle has harder miles on it? Mine has no leaks, AFAIK - definitely no timing chain cover leak. I've done two drain & fills on the transmission, and had the rear diff changed, so that might help prevent leaks.
My greatest disappointment with the vehicle is the head unit - the 13 speaker JBL with hard disc based GPS. The sound of the system is adequate, and satisfactory. But whereas the earlier units with GPS were flash memory based, and could be updated with a CD, the HD based GPS will update exclusively through a dealer, at a cost of some $350+. It will play mp3 off of a USB stick, which is a plus. But the user interface for that feature, as well as the GPS is abysmal - providing bare minimum functionality. I use a stand-alone Garmin most of the time for GPS - still not as good as the old Tom-Tom I had 12 - 15 years ago, but better than the Toyota offering. I'm not inclined to gamble the cost of an update, only to find out that the upgrade offers no interface improvement.

Where you live matters; the awd venza is fantastic in snow. It's the go to car in the winter in my family, beating out the Tundra and Grand Cherokee. As for the rough ride, its those 20" rims. Swap them for some 18's and the ride gets much better. The v6 and 6spd auto is hard to beat for reliabilty, many reaching 300k miles. This is the same powertrain as highlanders and lexus rx350's. Like most toyota's the venza isnt exceptional at anything, its just a good, reliable, well built car. We love our 2012 Venza, Bought at 60K.145K now. 2.7L 4 cyl. Very reliable. Large, AWD vehicle, still 20/21 mpg. Minimal repairs. One wheel bearing, one serpentine belt & tensioner, back shock assemblies, front brakes once, tires once, battery once, fog lamps once, headlights once. That's it!! Yes, not the smoothest ride but not a deal-breaker either IMO. VERY IMPORTANT: Change fluids regularly. Especially 5K oil changes, never more. Change tranny pan oil (about 2-1/2, to 3 qts.) at every engine oil change. Rear and front differentials (if AWD) every 30K. DO NOT GO BY DEALER MAINTENANCE INTERVAL RECOMMENDATIONS. You'll have it a long time.

I disagree with you 100%. I've never liked Toyota I'm more of a Pontiac GTO guy however I've owned a 2009 Venza since November of last year and it has a little bit of get up and go It's very smooth riding and overall I like the car I think it's very roomy The seats are comfortable The sound system is amazing so I'm very blessed to have this car and I got it for real good deal and the people that had it before me took really good care of it so yeah

I have a 4 cyl 2013 Venza XLE with 70k miles on it. Overall it's been a great ride! My suspension is smooth and absorbs a lot of the road bumps, so this Venza in the review probably just needs news shocks. The 4 cyl is definitely a little underpowered, but it's not that bad once you cycle through the 6 gears. I have Michelins on mine and overall the road noise is minimal compared to other Toyotas we've owned ( like our 2012 Rav 4). It's a roomy car with plenty of practicality, it just needs a slight face lift!

I call it a wagon in the Outback category, except it's Toyota. A wagon is what I want. I looked at the Venza ground clearance because of snow, wheel base and tire size, sits higher than a Matrix, Venza is similar to my neighbor's old Outback. Venza compares in my outlook if you want a wagon, which I do, and don't want something bigger like a Sienna type because of tight parking inner urban life. An older RAV4 would be out of my price range still but I'm saving my money. I'm moving past my Tundra and wish Toyota would have small pickups.

Slim, when I bought my 2015 Venza last year (w/ 100K miles), I was also looking at RAV-4s and CR-Vs which are similar sized vehicles. But I paid $4000 less than these higher-demand vehicles, considering year, mileage and trim. Because the Venza is not a high demand vehicle, you can get one for less and still have the reliability.
