When holding two strands on your Sentro….you can simply reverse the colours/fibres of your knitting, by twisting your wrist. Hold both yarns lightly, then twist your wrist 180 degrees. Then twist it back as soon as you want the other yarn to lay on top. Doing it randomly or equally will showcase your two different yarns.
I am in awe. I loved this video and just saved it to my playlist. I bought a sentro and have not used it much. You gave me the courage to dig it out and try some new yarns at different gauges. Thank you so much!
Was lucky enough to visit Sweet Georgia today while visiting from Toronto - absolutely beautiful yarns - a true feast for the eyes and the hands! I keep pulling the stunning skeins I bought out of the bag simply to look and feel! Thanks to Anita and Rachael for your help in advance of my visit, and at the store.
My favorite is the Honeygold and Amberale combo. I would love to have seen Stormynight and Honeygold together, I could see myself wearing that combination. All of the color combinations are very pretty. I would definitely try out some combinations. I started knitting when I was eleven, but I don't knit as much as I could, I mostly crochet because it's faster or I often combine them. When ever I knit I mostly used one color by hand. I remember using 2 colors many years ago with different materials, but it was so long ago, I can only remember using a pastel blue color. I do have some planned knitting projects that I will try out in combination colors as you spoke about. I'm also looking into getting a knitting machine. Thanks for sharing.
Did my first hat with mohair held with DK. Really nice fabric, now my husband wants one in black with a skein of alpaca. That is going to be fun! and I love your sweater!!
Thank you for this lovely video! This idea has been dancing around my brain for a while & now I think it is time to play 🧶 Endless possibilities. Thank you for sharing so many combinations.
It would be so pretty to knit your hat on the machine while then Allowing the fibers to twist together for the second half of the tube. That way once the hat is folded up into its cuff you do see the alternating colors. For the contrast along with the warmth. Thank you for the tutorial and the color combining! Gorgeous!
Love all your videos. I would like to see more things done on the sentro, you inspired me so I bought one, looks like lots of fun to be had. Also you explain things very clearly and would love for you to show how to change colours o the sentro. Thanks ever so much!
Currently obsessed w holding an unspun and lace weight yarn held double. Lightweight, warm squishy fabric! Also a fellow Erlbacher owner and would love more tutorials! Thanks! Love your content!💕
I love this idea and must give it a try - I'm already eyeing a couple of candidates in my stash. I've noticed that @kutovakika often knits with two yarns stranded together, giving her creations both structure and a dreamy halo.
I'm lucky enough to knit and weave with 100% alpaca all the time, as I have 6 of the fuzzy butts roaming the pasture. It has its downside, as it has no memory what-so-ever, I for some projects I prefer it blended to hold its shape. That's when it is fortuitous to have a friend who has angoras and cashies running around her place, we swap fiber and have it blended. Have you ever seen documentaries on the lace shawls of Shetland? HUGE shawls that are so fine, that their judgement of quality is that they fit through, in their entirely, a wedding band! This one is from the 1950s th-cam.com/video/0JX-Le5WDhs/w-d-xo.html
This video was so helpful with combining colors and the double thread effect. I also love the top you are wearing. Where do I get the pattern? Thank you.
when using a knitting machine, would it be better to wind up one ball of the two strands first before threading or using two individual balls/cones of yarn and just feeding them simultaneously through one yarn threader? or does it not matter?
Oh thank you Julie! It's the Navelli Tee designed by Caitlin Hunter at Boyland Knitworks. I actually showed how I knit the body of this sweater on the knitting machine (Greta knit the colourwork at the bottom of the sweater): th-cam.com/video/d5CYRAYIyS4/w-d-xo.html :)
Hi Felicia. Thanks so much for this video. Such a great idea to use up stash. You mentioned Tabitha has a Blog on how to use ‘Discord’. Can you direct me, please, to where I can find it? I have tried to use Discord but find it ver confusing. Many thanks.
I would wash it gently and lay flat to dry. It’s how I wash superwash yarn anyways. I know it’s treated so that it can be tossed in the machine, but I never do. I think yarn and projects will likely look better for longer if we treat them gently. ☺️
@@sweetgeorgia i usually do that too but I never really used super wash before and read that knitted things in that kind of material tend to lose their shape if they aren't washed in the washer! Did this ever happen to you?
@@aliceboss3134 not at all. Fabric that stretches out of shape can also be due to the yarn being knit at a gauge that is too loose. A stable fabric should hold up well, despite washing. This is where swatching and sampling come in and help determine how the yarn will behave after knitting and washing …

For sure! That works too!

I've been knitting, crocheting and weaving double fibers for years....yes it's so fun to combine different weights as well as colors 😊
Prachtig al die kleuren. Fantastisch

Aww that’s wonderful. Thank you so much for coming to visit us Elizabeth! Have a great trip to Vancouver. ☺️
Beautiful yarn and combinations for such a rich variety of colors and textures!
Love ❤️ 😍 💖 ❣️ 💕 💘 ❤️ 😍 💖 ❣️ 💕 💘 ❤️ 😍 love your knitting large cables easy
love the color mixing! it reminds me of how warp & weft come together.

Great video. I am making the Garter Marler pattern by Stephen West. It’s a cardi and perfect for using stash yarn.

I loved knitting a lovely cowl using a variegated fade set and a skein of silk-mohair.
Thank you for this lovely video!

Thank you Pearl!
This was so timely! I have a hand dyed fingering I've fallen out of love with, and am planning to hold double to shift the color! Thank you!
OMG!!!! What are you wearing? Is that the Andrea Mowry sweater? It looks AH-MAZING on you! I want to get that on my needles right away.
8:11 So beautiful!❤️

Oh yes! I have more CSM videos slated 💗🥰 thanks for watching!
I’ve been doing that in crochet for years as well. 😊
I’m planning to make black watch caps for gifts and adding a strand of black mohair for luxury

That's so wonderful to be able to enjoy the luxury of blended alpaca, cashmere, and angora!! Amazing. And yes, Shetland wedding shawls are incredible!

For a chunky double stranded knitt sweater do you need double the wool amount?

I love the five by five scarf and I would be curious as to how you would make it on the knitting machine. Great podcast!
May Iask abut your t-shirt/sweater. I love it! Is it a pattern of yours?
I love the top that you had on this video! I wish you would say what pattern it was. Thank You

I would be curious to see how the BFL silk fine (warp) and the Silk Mist (weft) wove up together. Might have to give that a try.
It would be interesting to see the same combinations done with color work
That's a brilliant idea, thanks Annie! I'm working on it :)
What are those colors you are using in your sweater?

Absolutely! Here is the guide to using Discord that we prepared: sweetgeorgiayarns.com/2023/02/how-to-join-the-sweetgeorgia-discord-server/ thank you!
Not a single stitch shown in the whole 20 min, wow. Next level of baiting, good job.
how do you wash superwash mixed with silk though?
