Sonu ke Titu Ki Sweety was probably the most baffling and terribly conceived film I have seen in maany years.
Nothing in that movie made any sense.
Sonu came across like a psychopathic madman madly in love with Titu and spoiling all his relationships.
Was I supposed to root for him?

Rani Mukerji is also one of the noted and talented actors after the Sridevi and Madhuri era. I don't know why she is so underrated and often ignored? The way she performed in black, no other actress could have and still can't.

I would suggest not putting all the names in the title, the thumbnail already mentions that.
You should rather mention the topic of the conversation to entice the viewers to click more.
Just a suggestion,Keep up the good work.

Plus I would also suggest putting the date or episode number so that people who want to go back and see episodes, it will be easier to choose what to see as per their interests. Now it just looks like all the episodes will have FC Film talk as the title and nothing more.

Hi, I respect your view. But after watching the film, I feel that it was not important to know what Sweety (Nusarat) has done wrong. What is important is that here is the guy who trusts his best friend more than anyone. I don't think Luv Ranjan needs to declare or showcase them as a gay couple or anything. It was just the friendship over love. That is it.

All respects to the great Sridevi. She was a great actress and a very decent human being. But I have to ask this question because I saw this written in several places. They are saying she was the first female actor who could make a film a success all on her own. I think that is unfair to other actresses.
First, how many movies like that does she really have? When I look back at her filmography, I really see only four movies like that - the double-role Chaalbaaz (which was a remake of Hema Malini's Sita aur Gita - so certainly the "first" claim falls flat there), the snake revenge drama series Nagin/Nigahein (both films' sucess was as much attributable to the great villains cast in the films and also, both films had big male stars cast opposite her, even though in a supporting role), English Vinglish and Mom, the latter two of which came out only after we had actresses like PC, KR and VB give us some big female oriented BO successes. All her other movies had big male names cast opposite her and her roles were no different from other actresses of that era. It is absolutely incorrect to attribute the success of those movies only to her.
Secondly, and this is the bigger problem - how can people forget or erase the legacy of the amazing leading lady roles Hindi movies have had in the past where the leading ladies made the films a success. The list is big but to name a few that come to mind: Nargis in Mother India/ Raat aur Din, Sadhana in WKT/ Mera Saaya/ etc., Waheeda Rahman in Khamoshi, MeenaKumari in Pakeezah/ SBG, Zeenat Aman in Satyam Shivam Sundaram, Hema Malini in Sita aur Gita, etc. The problem is that many Indians are so stuck in the Hindi films of the 70s and 80s when the male (aka. Rajesh Khanna and Amitabh Bachhan) ruled Hindi films that they have forgotten that at one time Hindi cinema used to make great movies and tell inclusive stories.

I really feel the last scene was great! when you say that girl didn't do anything for that but she did actually intended to come in between the guy's relationship, She wasn't doing to please anything and she was intending to get the control of the house. You should not bash the movie if you can't grasp the idea, it was entertaining and funny and you're just being biased lol. And the best part about you guys is that you haven't seen Akash vani and how conveniently you've formed an opinion about Luv ranjan and his movies. I don't think the ending of the movie suggested at all that Mildred and Dixon were going to go and kill the guy. The purpose of the last dialogue was in fact to hint at the exact opposite. Mildred asks Dixon, "Are you sure about this?". He answers, "About killing this guy? Not Really. You?" And Mildred answers, "Not really. I guess we can decide along the way." For me there was no grey area. They had decided not to kill the guy. It was a continuation of the "anger begets anger" theme of the last half of the movie, and the arc the characters were experiencing after Willoughby's letter. I really don't see why people are not getting the ending. For me it did not feel open-ended or ambivalent at all.

People who are battling with life every day and have lived their lives to the fullest are not dying, but people with so much of life left with them are leaving this world. Paul Walker, Phillip Hughes, heath ledger, om puri, reema lagoo and now Sridevi are the perfect example of this.😐😔😔

  • @trishitabose3950
    @trishitabose3950 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Dear Anupama,
I think I might change your mind about that ending. See, the film is all about redemption, right? And if it had ended with the two of them setting out on that open road, I would have not liked it, definitely. But when they say that they are ‘not really’ sure about killing the man, it is, in my opinion, the director holding on hope for these two people brought together by two terrible tragedies. I think that on that straight, open road, somewhere there’s a bend or a curve and they turn back. In that last dialogue, the director makes it pretty conclusive, pretty smartly I’ll say, so I would argue that the film is not open ended at all. The director’s intentions have always been very clear.
Let me know what you think, if you read these things at all.

Anupama do not worry what people think. I get it. Some people thrive on female bashing and they just can’t digest the fact of end of patriarchy. They continue to reinforce the idea by these shitty movies. I totally get why “Bhagwan ne acchi ladki banana band kar diya hai” is WRONG on so many levels. It shows how regressive our society is even today. I saw someone in comments saying you are okay with Padmavat which is regressive. I am shocked again. These people just don’t get the idea of movie setup of 13th century vs 2018 do they? Unfortunately as long as we have gender biases in society prevalent. Nothing’s gonna change. One more thing Anu, you may have maids to get a lot of things for you. But the idea of “achi ladki” today is still having her cook 4 course meal for family, do a mata ka jagrata, make tea, make Diwali sweets all alone, manage to look good after all this.

Female -bashing is one of the outcomes of trying to protect patriarchy. But it can also be the outcome of some relationship dynamic shown in his previous movies like pyaar ka punchnama 1 and 2. Any character from those relationships would have the same attitude towards women and such power relationships.

Becoz she is reacting not as a feminist but as a human being . I felt the women characters were caricatures, like what a teenage boy who has been dumped by a girl would have written.

There are two female characters in the film .. those 2 characters do not necessarily represent all women ... there is no outrage when men are shown as sex hungry creatures .. watch a movie as a movie not as propaganda

Sonu Ki Titu was a very honest film. It shall be an educational film for ladies who are in a relationship. They shall know how a guy feels when he gets manupulated by feminine tactics. Plus the plot was very feminist because it showed woman in charge of a man's life. full in control. Guys had to put an effort to get out of that trap. A very honest film which resonated with urban youth that's why people are watching it again and again. I think women critics would have appreciated the film more if the gender roles were reversed like in Veeerey di Wedding. These critics are so sexists. Overall i think Sonu ki Titu was an honest film sugercoated in comedy with brilliant direction, script and acting. Loved it.

Where was the back story of mogambo ... where was the back story of shakal.... For decades and decades men have been portrayed as villains in bollywood... out and out black shade with no reasoning ... in thousands of movies the girl runs away in the climax because she realizes someone else is more important or she is getting married to the wrong person.... dil hai ki manta nahin, dil chahata hai etc... why is such a big deal that there is a guy this time who walks away and the girl is left at the alter ... just like in most of the movies how the hero saves heroine from getting married to the wrong person ... this time the hero saves his friend from getting married to the wrong person... please stop wrong portrayal of women empowerment to the society .... it strictly means equality and not supremacy ....

Again with the ending of three billboards. Even though I expected it to be a rape revenge for a minute second and I just got carried away that they should, then the director just blew me away with a little dialogue between both the characters inside the car.
Something like "should we really?, I don't know, whether it's correct thing to do"
That is genius in my opinion, making audience think on what they have to take away from the film. It wouldn't be as impactful if they killed or they backed off. It takes time to sink in and when you get it it's all in your brain.
Talking about the performance of Francis Mcdormand she is more impactful than meryl Streep and Sally Hawkins in my view, her scope in this film was limited when compared to Sally because there are two more great actors who had great character arcs and nearly as captivating as her. Despite of that she did her best. Haven't seen Margot robbie's work
But I think Francis McDormand should win

You mentioned she just said 'Main Chaalu Hu' and didn't do anything. They didn't show but it was quite obvious, everything she was doing was a fake drama, the kadhi and mata ka jagrata. The whole rishta was pre planned, she researched this guy who is like bhola bhala and who she can control and then they sent the rishta. If you hear the background, 'she is a goal digger', she accepted she was and she planned everything. She was just getting married for the money and controlling the house! She also very very clearly mentioned she is going to kick his best friend (who is like a brother) from Sunny's life and house, first as soon as she gets married!

So the only sophisticated response is to get panties in a bunch on an entertainer? The woman is an antagonist in the movie and the dialogues are funny. It's an all out entertainer. No one cares for feminist bitching. The free market has delivered it's verdict.

The definition of Meninist on google states that It is someone who believes that men are victimised due to feminism. Love Ranjan sir didn't retaliate against feminism. He chose to speak about something not very commonly spoken about. Such relationship dynamics are very frequently seen in relationships. A few years ago people did not talk about gay rights. That doesn't mean that the problem didn't exist. And if your argument is that feminism is fighting a bigger fight, Malala is fighting an even bigger fight. Shouldn't we wait until all those problems are solved before we talk about anything else?

Thanks for the detailed analysis three of you, love these discussions
People should understand that having a debate and argument should be more healthy.
Before you judge and start calling names for them not liking what you enjoyed.
The reason why we are still bad at cinema is we are not perceiving it properly and we are not talking about it in detail. We should stop watching the world from a key hole, open up more to other perspectives. If the content creators understand that people are not taking their bullshit anymore they will work on more suspenseful stuff
I'm hopeful looking at the way 2017 was huge flop for bad bollywood movies.
