Tumbbad should have been discussed as well. It was reviewed by both of you and could have used a nice discussion especially on its theme and how aesthetics were key in its narrative.
Zero trailer felt like Jab tak hai jaan in alternate universe
They even inserted 'Jab Tak' in the song that played in the trailer

As an SRK fan, I feel like we're all Kajol (as the mother) from K3G. And we see our kid doing stupid stuff and lose our shit, but then he smiles and says "this one's for you mom" and our hearts melt and we spread our arm wide and accept everything he does. Zero feels no different, I am willingly ready to be disappointed once again. Ahhhh... the things we do for love

Rahul, you have the knack of saying the exact things what we feel as an audience! I totally agree with you on Zero, if SRK's character was the star of the trailer, Anushka's totally fizzled out the whole excitement.
And more importantly...Rahul is not able to look at the film separately from the actor...he is iffy about Anushka because he didn't like jab Harry met Sejal and jab tak hai Jaan..how does that make Anushka a bad actor..major kuch bhi
@aishwarya gupta her expressions, voice modulation, characterization and body language are bang on...so when u say she is average...exactly which area are you referring to?
You can always depend on Rahul to say it like it is!!! He has no price tag, it seems.
why are the critics so nit picky towards anushka ? so generous and forgiving towards dp and alia ?
Don't take critics too seriously,if the story and acting satisfy you then go with that..even songs of Lata ji gets disliked..

I wish you guys spoke a bit about First Man. Rahul as always wrote an excellent review for it but I still feel that the movie isn't getting the kind of praise it deserves from audiences. Everybody goes all gaga over Interstellar and Gravity - why not this movie then?
Amitabh Sharma Its by far the best movie i've seen in theatres this year. Maybe the reason it has not become such a big thing like Interstellar or Gravity is because of how intimate and melancholic the film was. It's not really a 'big' space film, but more of a deeply personal look into Armstrong's grief.
Also the ridiculous flag controversy.
@@sanchitvarma1282 I think the 'deep personal' nature of the movie, like you mentioned, is precisely why everyone should see it. People probably think of movies like Apollo 13 (which is, no doubt, another great movie) when they think of astronauts - gung-ho, likeable superheroes who can do no wrong. First Man on the other hand shows astronauts as humans who are deeply affected by personal tragedies, who can be irritatingly cocky (as in Buzz Aldrin's case) and whose lives, at least in those initial years, were so deeply intertwined with death. And for god's sake, this is a true story. The events of this movie are the reason why Interstellar and Gravity and 2001: A Space Odyssey became possible.
But, more importantly, do you think it will manage to win Best Picture? I haven't watched A Star is Born yet, but I still think Best Picture shouldn't go to a remake. There's also Christian Bale's Vice.
Amitabh Sharma I agree with everything you said. Of all space exploration movies, this was the one which made me truly get in into the heads of the astronauts and experience their physical and mental turmoil. But most of the people who walked in were not expecting 'this' movie. They wanted more action, herioism and triumph. But the title of the movie itself gave away it's intentions - it's about the first man - his life, his family, his emotional turmoil, his fears, his grief, not about a country's mission to the moon.
As for the oscar chances, I really doubt it will contend for the Major awards - the movie is way too subtle and intimate to woo the oscar voters. But honestly, though A star is born is a really well made film, it just can't compare to the emotional impact that First Man had.
@@sanchitvarma1282 That's a pity. Everything about the movie was special. Even the music. It haunts me even now. And Damien Chazelle is so damn unlucky- three top notch movies and each time, he misses out on the Best Picture. But I am happy that I have found someone, other than Rahul Desai and my roommate, who loved the movie.! :P
I hate it when critics say, "the second half wasn't all that sparkling/intense/good" and leave it at that. It's a judgement, not a criticism!

Exactly. Problem is that I am unable to buy her character and what's surprising is that it escaped the notice of someone like Anand L Rai.
@Maninder Singh haan that's what I actually had in my mind. After seeing her my first reaction was like how good Priyanka was in Barfi. Also with Katrina my expectations are low too. But honestly she didn't disappoint me as much.
I don't know why they did not like Anushka's character in Zero trailer. She did a great job. I hope and I know Anushka's character will be the best and the most loved character of #Zero. And I really missed Sucharita ma'am.
I absolutely love SRK. I loved the trailer. I want the movie to be AMAZING. I just wish Anushka does justice to her role and doesn't look odd or unsatisfactory and take away the charm of the film. Fingers crossed.
I have the same fear, but for Katrina. She is great at ruining films.
But anushka is a keen learner, so I hope she did justice to her role.
i dont think anusha will ruin it.. she does it when she is convinced about it. we have never seen anushka gone really bad actress in any movie . and plus she will be carefull after JHMS so i dont think she will get off track.

Maybe you dint mean that but akshay Kumar after a billion movies can choose to only work on social messages movies, he at this point doesn’t need to experiment; he,s been there done that. He is using his stardom to good use.
I never go with Miss Chopra's reviews. How come SRK is looking like dwarf? Dwarfs have big head, small body and smaller limbs but then how come a superstar can look unusual/ugly? Then to be likable on screen, he has to act. Kamal Hassan did great with less technology in Appu Raja. But thats not in SRK's kitty. SRK's fans are dumb and so is AL Rai. How come he is convinced that an actor in a shorter frame can be shown as dwarf.
Tumbad was mentioned but not discussed which means they didnt forget it. They chose not to talk about it.
rahul is so strong headed that even anupama is scared of him.She thinks twice before speaking to him.
Anushka was only good in bbb and off screen wardrobe. I dont get the hype.

I can understand why they didn't like 2.0 trailer. It's because they fear that 2.0 ( South Indian film) will destroy all box office records once again when it releases because, that's what Bahubali 2 (South Indian film) did last year. They will never appreciate a hardcore commercial Indian film as they are huge fans of European style film makers like Zoya Akhtar, Imtiaz Ali, Vishal Bhardwaj etc who keep making craps that hardly get some footfalls.
Great relief to see just two of you....Someone who understand cinema least is out....Great!
I still remember trauma of JTHJ, my son left the film and walked out in between. I had to bear the trauma of completing it, was so bad.
There's a seen in the trailer where Katrina is also sitting in a wheelchair so my theory is that Katrina's playing a biopic of Anushka's character Aafia and that's how Katrina comes to know why SRK's character left Aafia.

Badhai ho is a great family entertainer but Andhadhun is a masterpiece. Tumbadd, Stree and Sanju are also so good. But award goes to Raazi which was just decent watch. Great year for bollywood.

Sometimes I feel what if Rahul Desai makes a movie, either the entire world won't understand and he'll alone give it a 5 or it will never get made because he'll never be satisfied. Nothing is flawless, stop crying that the second half wasn't great. The final product, the movie..was amazing. It's really difficult to make a movie. Please understand.
