Your version was my favourite and I still play it. This video is great and so is your arrangement. I always loved the bath atmosphere and you are so nice. It's "Then afterwards" and "same old lines". If you want to hear the absolute original, you can hear my parents sing it on their album if you search "Carson and Gaile Something Stupid" on TH-cam. That will have it all as it was intended. As for "chance you won't be leaving with me", yes, you're right. It's basically a story of a guy who has low self-esteem but is taking a chance regardless. Then he "blew it" by saying he loved her. What happens after that is left to the imagination.
Thought I'd let you know, contrary to popular belief, the lyrics are "I practice every day to find some clever lines to say to make the meaning come through", not come "true". He and I were both friends of the Kingston Trio and we sat backstage together at a trio concert in Bowling Green, Kentucky. After the show I got to jam with him and Bill Morehead and Bobby Haworth from the Kingston Trio. What a great night it was. Though I knew he wrote "Something Stupid" I didn't realize he had even recorded it first before Frank Sinatra got a hold of it.Carson was pretty modest. Bathsingers, great.
Great opening guitar intro. The dead pan delivery is quite funny. It looks like you were having a lot of fun. The song is really quite lovely. It was written by C. Carson Parks a onetime member of the New Christy Minstrels and brother of notable recording artist, Van Dyke Parks.
When you're inside a close bathroom and try to sing, it's sounds great than when you are outside. Thanks for sharing. I think I will also do my own version. A little different cause I' ve done it while sitting on the bowl.

I also loved Michael Bublé and Reese Witherspoon's version on his new album, To Be Loved. But, not released as a single. Go check it out. It's nicely done.

I assume that the respective first version is the correct one? Also, I don't quite get the sense of "a chance you won't be leaving with me". Does it mean he is afraid that when they go dancing, she might go away with another guy?
