The withdrawal of support by Singh is not a surprise. The NDP inevitably had to disassociate themselves from an unpopular government. It is the timing that is intriguing. Was it a strategic decision or a reaction to sliding support? In either case, they may have backed themselves into a corner, but there remains no definitive explanation for the timing.

the talk is that Singh has a very unhappy caucus and they were on the verge of revolt this at this week's meeting

Humiliation is plausible, than calling in an election before Fall-25 looking at how Jagmeet responded to media yesterday.

My prediction : Montreal by-election won by Bloc, Winnipeg riding won by Conservatives.

The start for any potential election campaign is AFTER Jagmeet get's his pension.

What's going to happen Jugmeat will block every non-confidence vote until his pension is secured.

R I P ....... Now that Jagmeat has made his move, & even though NDP is low in the polls and lacks fundraising, there's absolutely no way he'll get away with continuing to support the liberal too much longer. If he prolongs this, the NDP will drop completely off the map, & his party will NOT let that happen. IMHO, election call sometime in Nov (early Dec very latest). Election date = spring. And I don't think there's time for the liberals to switch leaders, which is excellent, because Trudeau needs to be utterly humiliated on a public stage ! Probly 4th place finish. With a little luck ... loose party status. Then charges and jail-time for treason.

Althia Raj let slip on the national last night that 2 recent internal polls show the NDP or Bloc winning it

So it is all about the ground game then. Historically the NDP have an excellent ground game for byelections.
But under Singh the NDP have performed very poorly.
I don’t know Quebec’s culture, or NDPs Quebec wing of things, but if this was English Canada, the NDP would lose because there organization is terrible under Singh.

@@Niko-iv4ch Bloc win up the middle meaning the Liberals & NDP each win a significant share of the vote splitting it enough they neither reach the total the Bloc gets.

This election race will be full of new songs from these 2 groups of Canadian voters :
1% elite Canadians and big corporations vote for the Federal Liberals MPs
    Vs.
99% working Canadians vote for the "NEVER FEDERAL LIBERALS MPs AGAIN"
Canada is ready for the Federal Election 🎉🎉🎉

Please explain what is the downfall for PP . Follow politics very closely the only negative mention is CUTTING PROGRAMS yet the only cuts he has indicated lowering income tax and cutting the carbon tax.

    • @philcharles238
      @philcharles238 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

The CBC for one, but Trudeau is so disliked that PP could not even publish a platform at all, and still win just because he is "not Trudeau". I'd expect cuts to anything that is DEI related, environment/"green" projects, and probably a 10% cut to the public service workforce (if not more over time through attrition).
