The withdrawal of support by Singh is not a surprise. The NDP inevitably had to disassociate themselves from an unpopular government. It is the timing that is intriguing. Was it a strategic decision or a reaction to sliding support? In either case, they may have backed themselves into a corner, but there remains no definitive explanation for the timing.
R I P ....... Now that Jagmeat has made his move, & even though NDP is low in the polls and lacks fundraising, there's absolutely no way he'll get away with continuing to support the liberal too much longer. If he prolongs this, the NDP will drop completely off the map, & his party will NOT let that happen. IMHO, election call sometime in Nov (early Dec very latest). Election date = spring. And I don't think there's time for the liberals to switch leaders, which is excellent, because Trudeau needs to be utterly humiliated on a public stage ! Probly 4th place finish. With a little luck ... loose party status. Then charges and jail-time for treason.
So it is all about the ground game then. Historically the NDP have an excellent ground game for byelections. But under Singh the NDP have performed very poorly. I don’t know Quebec’s culture, or NDPs Quebec wing of things, but if this was English Canada, the NDP would lose because there organization is terrible under Singh.
@@Niko-iv4ch Bloc win up the middle meaning the Liberals & NDP each win a significant share of the vote splitting it enough they neither reach the total the Bloc gets.
This election race will be full of new songs from these 2 groups of Canadian voters : 1% elite Canadians and big corporations vote for the Federal Liberals MPs Vs. 99% working Canadians vote for the "NEVER FEDERAL LIBERALS MPs AGAIN" Canada is ready for the Federal Election 🎉🎉🎉
Please explain what is the downfall for PP . Follow politics very closely the only negative mention is CUTTING PROGRAMS yet the only cuts he has indicated lowering income tax and cutting the carbon tax.
The CBC for one, but Trudeau is so disliked that PP could not even publish a platform at all, and still win just because he is "not Trudeau". I'd expect cuts to anything that is DEI related, environment/"green" projects, and probably a 10% cut to the public service workforce (if not more over time through attrition).
The NDP need time to get voters on their side would be stupid to support an election anytime soon. Pollieve is the only one that's been campaigning constantly for 2 years about
I think the St Paul lose was because the same woman for 30 year's had that riding. If she had of been still the candidate I don't think they would have lost .
JS hoping to increase his voters base with the upcoming public servants being asked to return to on-site work sites next week. JS NDP will be supporting the Unions on this stance. Impacts 282,000 p.s. employees.
This man has no credibility whatsoever. A vote for the NDP is a vote for the Liberals and Vice-VERSA. Think SMART people and be wise with your vote. This could be our LAST "kick at the can".
Singh, has ripped up something, somewhere. But will support the liberal government in any case A pure subsidy to a petroleum company might get Singh voting against TruDoh. But TruDoh won't do that. 😂
Only union leaders gain anything that's why they tell you to vote ndp don't be fooled. Conservatives all the way. I am a union member who will never vote ndp wef.

the talk is that Singh has a very unhappy caucus and they were on the verge of revolt this at this week's meeting
Humiliation is plausible, than calling in an election before Fall-25 looking at how Jagmeet responded to media yesterday.
My prediction : Montreal by-election won by Bloc, Winnipeg riding won by Conservatives.
aww come on Eric and Phillipe call the election now
The start for any potential election campaign is AFTER Jagmeet get's his pension.
What's going to happen Jugmeat will block every non-confidence vote until his pension is secured.
Happy Anniversary

Althia Raj let slip on the national last night that 2 recent internal polls show the NDP or Bloc winning it

Good job you two. Love the humour also.
This byelection livestream will be amazing.
Long Live The Numbers!!!
it's been a great year, I don't always tune in but when there's a shake up in Canadian politics I always know I can get some good analysis here!

The only question is who is the liberal Kim Campbell. ??

Some of the best analyses possible!
Can Singh sing well? I think he should be another pop star as his next career.
Love the work you guys! Great chemistry :)
The BC NDP need to go, their continued deficit spending will sink this province.
Great podcast as usual! Looking forward to the by-elections.
PP is the only one who can bring Canada back.

Confidence in this government is gone as the poll numbers obviously state. Therefore IMO an election should be called.
with numbers like the NDP has,why would jagmeet pull the plug?

Goodbye Jughead, NDP's need a new leader, you are so crap. Smarten up NDP caucus!
Bloc will be the next loyal opposition LOL

It's all a big play. We know he's just going to keep supporting them until the election. He believes he can be the leader of Canada. He's delusional 😂
