    Sir, does the admissions committee emphasize on CGPA while recruiting a PhD candidate in Western Europe?

      GPA is always considered to be an important predictor of PhD student success in theoretical areas of work.

      @@Mathematician-w1c Yes those are also important. It is a holistic decision. The letters of recommendation can play a big role to counteract any issue with low GPA. In US, GRE can play a key role in this. Also note that GPA from all universities are not comparable. But most admission committees have some idea about the better universities and their Gpa.

      @@Drganguli I think sir all these things are true for USA only. Europe seems to be extremely unpredictable. The motivated and highly qualified students are only selected.

      @@Mathematician-w1c In cases I know they have an interview at the end. They also consult other students and professors from that country about the candidate. Letters are given huge importance
