Same here. I had a friend of 5 years. We didn't see much of each other during the pandemic. We had lunch about a month after Biden took office. We are at the opposite end of the political spectrum so we seldom talked politics. He brought up 1/6 and Trump and I just shrugged it off. He wouldn't let it go, within 10 minutes ( we're in a restaurant) he brings up the fact that anyone who voted for Trump was a racist. I was surprised, as race was never a topic for us (he's Hispanic, I'm White) He knew I voted for Trump. I asked him if he thought I was a racist because I vote for Trump. He wouldn't answer, instead changing his attack on Trump. Over the course of the next half hour, I asked him twice if he thought I was a racist. The second time he wouldn't answer. The third time he finally said " I guess not" That was the end of our friendship.

One of them told me "I don't mind discussing politics or religion with someone as long as they agree with me". We are fed up with this attack also.

Same here. I had a friend of 5 years. We didn't see much of each other during the pandemic. We had lunch about a month after Biden took office. We are at the opposite end of the political spectrum so we seldom talked politics. He brought up 1/6 and Trump and I just shrugged it off. He wouldn't let it go, within 10 minutes ( we're in a restaurant) he brings up the fact that anyone who voted for Trump was a racist. I was surprised, as race was never a topic for us (he's Hispanic, I'm White) He knew I voted for Trump. I asked him if he thought I was a racist because I vote for Trump. He wouldn't answer, instead changing his attack on Trump. Over the course of the next half hour, I asked him twice if he thought I was a racist. The second time he wouldn't answer. The third time he finally said " I guess not" That was the end of our friendship.
