    That's a good distinction "how easy/relax we feel holding the breath" as opposed to "how long we can hold the breath" which brings in that competitive element.

    • @SensingVitality
      @SensingVitality  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for pointing that out- it's easy to get competitive or forceful with one's body, particularly with breathing.

    This was a great lesson, thanks Annie! Wow, my eyebrow was very sensitive and painful! Feels so much more stimulated now.
    LSD - Light, Slow, Deep breathing… yes, I love this and do it when meditating. Feels so wonderful that I also do this when I get into bed before going to sleep. I sleep much more deeply! Thanks too for the alternate nostril breathing- I’d forgotten about this one!

    I have a common cold and could feel the difference in my sinuses, wow! Also the movement with the breath in the beginning was awesome. Yoga doesnt work for me, (tried again two weeks ago, a simple session aimed at fatigue but no) so it’s awesome and uplifting I can do this practice. It felt really good for both body and mind. Thank you so much for your work and for sharing it freely! You’re videos are always life savers

      Thanks Ume-- glad to hear it. Yes, these lessons and practices are a bit more accessible and gentle compared to typical yoga classes-- though yoga can be so helpful as long as it is not taught too aggressively-- in my opinion. If it works for you to come to a live online class, come join us.

    Hi Ms. Annie you have a very calming voice. Thank you for sharing this. Most specially your hand exercises. I've suffered stroke last 2016 I've finished my PT that year too. It's nice to do your hand exercises coz til now I can't write the way I used to. My right hand is trembling.. More exercise I guess? 😊😊

    So I'm willing to bet this also helps the Vegas nerve stimulation which also cures sleep apnea. When one looks at the epidemic
    proportion of people with apnea and their habits in our society there's really no wonder at all.

    Thanks a lot Annie! I have a question: is there a reason why you hold your breath during exhalation? do you do it even during inspiration? Thanks 🙏

    • @SensingVitality
      @SensingVitality  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Sorry, I missed this comment. Good question. Are you asking why to hold breath in between exhalation and inhalation or that I'm holding my breath while I'm inhaling or while I'm exhaling? If you are asking the first question-- It because it brings our attention to that space between, consciously rests/relaxes the muscular/nervous system to drop down effort during the active breathing part. If it's the second question-- that means you have picked up on my own habits of effecting while speaking or moving that requires me to brace/hold my breath-- and could be from nervousness or the effort of moving, showing, teaching, speaking all at once....I can always refine my own relaxation with breath. Sometimes I'm more relaxed and organized better than in this video and other times I may be holding breath more... :)

    I cannot inhale that long tracing my body on the upward position can you do an alternative version for people with compromised breathing

    • @SensingVitality
      @SensingVitality  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, good question. Do this in the timing that works for you. You may need to pause the video -- or adapt as you need. That's the problem with teaching anything about breathing, we need to have some flexibility for each of us to learn. Thanks for writing.

    Oh, I have had no problems breathing. But I had covid in November and it left my sinuses in really bad shape. I have no congestion at all, but severe pain on right eyebrow. When I do neti pot then the pain spreads to many other sinuses aread. I also have drastic photophobia that renders me blind at times. I'll be trying this sequence. Anything else I could try?. My humming totally feels very different on each side. Thank you !

      I would recommend Palming for your eyes (sinuses are right around eyes) and the full Breathing Series, my Face Series-- my Patreon site has various levels of access to all these series. My Elemental Balance series may also be helpful. I use humming a lot in some of my other series-- the Owl series for instance. Some of the movement lessons we make in these series will work with ears and other areas that access sinuses and your nervous system in general. I've never worked with photophobia before but the owl series is quite powerful in working with the eyes and ears. Hope you can join me sometime in a live class. We begin a new series next Tuesday working with Rabbit Wisdom-- a truly amazing animal that can help with clearing fear from the nervous system, grounding, vitality and agility. Take care...

    What if one nostril is already closed ?

    • @SensingVitality
      @SensingVitality  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Often you might be able to breathe in a little on that nostril -- you can also breathe through your mouth with that nostril. Keep working with the face massage-- I have other lessons working with face, including a face series on Patreon-- and the entire Vital Breath series on Patreon. It may take time to open this nostril and also there may be something more going on there for you-- sinus infection or deviated septum. Something to look into if this nostril feels really mechanically blocked.

    trying to breath through this..... really hard to do.

    • @SensingVitality
      @SensingVitality  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Relaxation is a good beginning-- do less if you can. If your sinuses are clogged, try a warm, wet washcloth on your face before doing this lesson to help relax our face or lie down with head elevated. I don't know your situation, but see if you can create a relaxing environment to practice. And things that are hard to do, you can imagine doing them a little easier, gentler.... and see if that helps you. Take care...
