An interesting trivia fact about Sholay: Longest Running Film: Sholay initially opened to a lukewarm response but went on to become one of the longest-running films in Indian cinema history, playing in theaters for over five years continuously.
Wrong- Sholay earned 11.50+ lakhs in its first week,a record that was broken by Amitabh only in 1982 with Khuddar, the lukewarm response myth originates from the fact that Sholay couldn't manage to take 100% opening, remained 96-99% in all the territories as it was released on record number of prints, not getting 100% occupance was what created the myth.
Fun fact: the character of the dacoit “Gabbar Singh” was apparently inspired by a real life dacoit, Gabbar Singh Gujjar, who terrorised the localities in Chambal Valley in the late 1950s. He was apparently so fierce that he would cut off the nose and ears of policemen that he captured and released them in this disfigured state as a gory warning. By 1959, he had become such a threat that the governments of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh declared a joint reward of ₹50,000 for his capture. But his gang apparently commanded so much fear that no one dared to leak any information about him. Eventually, the governments could not take it anymore and mobilized a large scale police operation, following which, he was cornered in the Bhind district, and killed in a gun battle against the police there. Kind of fun to think that such dreaded dacoits were not purely fictional, but had basis in real-life events.
@@umwelten988 It was the year 1978 that made him a Legend,he gave 3 A11 Films that year, means 3 Blockbusters in a year, with Kasme Vaade being an A11(Superhit)and Ganga ki saugandh being an A(Hit),the greatest year for any Actor ever.

Sanjeev Kumar was an exceptional actor, celebrated for his versatility and depth in portraying complex characters. In Parichay, he convincingly portrayed a father figure, while in Koshish, he starred as Jaya Bachchan’s love interest, illustrating his range by shifting seamlessly between varied relationships with the same co-star. His talent for nuanced performances made him one of the most respected actors of his time.
Another Fact about Sholay: Amitabh Bachchan Wasn't the First Choice: The role of Jai, played by Amitabh Bachchan, was originally offered to other actors. Amitabh, who wasn't yet a superstar, pursued the role with persistence, and finally, director Ramesh Sippy gave him the chance.
