Abby and Natalie are first generation with a twist. Their mom immigrated from a war torn area of Africa. She did finish HS. Their dad is African American, with a slave history in America, did not finish HS. There are no siblings.
I am helping as their Great Aunt but have no blood relationship. I do have a BS in Business & Nursing. My sister, also no blood relationship, has BS in Finance & Accounting and when needed a CPA. Her daughter has a BS in Communications from a 2nd tier state school with an incredible work history, great story. My niece has peers with disabling debt and one with crushing debt. My niece had no debt and it made a big difference.

Hello! great video! I was just curious what your suggestion would be if i were intending on transfering out into a better school after i meet the GPA and academic history as a first time student as to weather i should wait to go for these scholorships until i am getting ready to transfer from the current school, which will be more costly or if i should attempt to get them now? and are these scholorships only fromt he instituions?

Scholarships are available from institutions and outside organizations. Usually organizations will require proof of enrollment prior to distributing the scholarship award. So you should apply when you are ready to transfer or one academic year prior to transferring, since deadlines are between October-April prior to your September transfer.

What if the parents have a degree from another country but never went to college in USA? We live here under a work visa, no perm res, nor citizenship yet.

Every organization and college has their own definition of 1st generation. Some organizations allow students to be considered 1st generation students if their parents did not attend college in the USA.

Can first generation scholarship be applied if you are a junior or senior in college? Also, can you apply each year?

Yes. Every organization has their own definition of who is a 1st generation student, but you should still qualify while you are in college.
