I installed the 3rd function kit on my T494C tractor and the install was a smooth install. I used all OEM parts that I purchased from a dealer. I actually found the kit online and the person contacted me to make sure that I was able to purchase the kit. Bought a TYM 474. Same deal. Dealers were taking so long I emailed TYM and by the time they contacted me I had a dealer who ordered it. TYM called me and told me it was shipped to my address. Thank you to Charles D Stahl Sales & Service in Little Falls, NY.
Did you get it to work properly? If not look at the 3rd page of the install manual and see if you installed the "connector" between the block and new piece.
is there any way i can get a copy of those instructions from you? in 6months having the kit finally, i am getting no where trying to get the instructions. i am getting we will email it, and none show up. i watched your vid, i do not see you adding, checking any o ring fro removing the block off plate and adding the control valve at the bottom. my kit appears complete, yet there are no orings left over to seal that valve. i assumed they get reused. there must be seals in there. i have yet to take it apart even though i am a mechanic as i prefer to have full understanding of whats what and specs. also the kit came with a spool valve, that needs to be installed somewhere. i am not seeing all the pieces in my kit being used in your video. i have a 474 and my valve looks identical to yours and in same location. i have asked dealer, and even called corp and never get instructions. i got a service manual for tractor but does not include it. i can send you some $ if need be thanks

I bought the third function from a TYM dealer in Tennessee I can’t remember where exactly but they sent it right out and I believe with shipping it was around $900

Just had my used T454 cab delivered yesterday and it has the third function already installed (previous owner maybe?) Will check and see if the buttons function the same. Great video!
Good luck with it! I put mine in the shop in the middle of March. Got it back last week. Had transmission problems. And I found out why by buttons didn’t function properly. I was missing a part. I have it now
You’ve got something plumbed wrong or something. You def have to push button then move stick but it should be “right” and “left” with button pushed. That opens and closes grapple. It should not close on its own either. Also, if you ever hook up the hoses in reverse on the attachment, “left” could do the opposite of what you are used to as well as “right”.
In other videos with TYM third function installs there is a piece that needs to go in before you bolt on the kit (e.g., while the hydraulic fluid is leaking out). if you dont install that you will have a diverter setup and not a true 3rd function.
That must be my issue as well, I can't open my grapple while moving the bucket at the same time and vise versa (installed at dealer). But 2 days ago I started having an issue that I can no longer tilt my bucket down. I'm guessing my 3rd function (diverter valve is engaged).

Out of the Woods also. My TYM is in the shop. The transmission (Low High) selector shift fork broke inside the transmission. Had about 110 hours or so on it. Been watching your videos for a while. Love the sawmill! I have to pick up some cedar and black walnut tomorrow I had milled up!

Yes. I have. It’s been to the shop twice for transmission issues. And I have to take it to a different ship tomorrow. And the hydraulic steering went out also. Customer service is not very good either

@@311hitwall on the low-high range selector, it started out by just popping out of low range. Wasn’t a big deal. I would just put back in gear. Now, if I do put it in low range, it takes about 10 minutes to get it back in high range. It will stay stuck in low or neutral

Should deliver it wed the 574 hst cab with backhoe ,grapple with 3rd function, box blade, landplane, with front end loader $40500 out the door. Cant beat the price on the tym tractors.
C.B. Harrison that’s true. Hope you have better luck from yours than I’ve had of mine. 100 hours in and the transmission broke. 120 hours and the steering ram went out. My closest dealer (3 hours away) was hit by an arsonist 2 times a week apart. My tractor has been in the shop for 8 weeks. No clue when it will be fixed at this point

It’s located inside the unit itself. Looks like a plunger. It installs into one of the holes in the bottom side of the unit

Permatex Aviation seal. I would get a set of nice long hoses instead of couplers ,I would also add a guurd.

Contact heather at TYM headquarters. She can put you on the right track. That’s how I got mine

mine opens without pushing back on the joystick. Perhaps you have something incorrectly plumbed in?

Teflon is recommended on NPT fittings. Even on hydraulic systems.
