The maestro is not me actually, but it's my friend Leo Aquino who gave me permission to publish his recordings. Leo is still alive at 85 or 86 years & lives in a nursing home for the elderly in North Vancouver, British Columbia. I will be posting a live video of Leo performing next month & in the summertime hope to produce a live video of myself (Paul Shigrove) playing this piece. Of course it won't even be close to as good as Leo's recording.
Thank you Danie! I'm glad you enjoyed Leo's remarkable talent. Before he switched to Tonaveri Leo played a Guerrini. Guerrini actually bought the Sonola factory. Horace Lazzari played a Sonola SS20 but then switched to a Petosa (a.k.a. Zero-Setti). I hope this answers your question. God bless!
Yes, & with no dubbing. The nice thing about the accordion is that you can play the piano accompaniment part of this composition with the left hand & the solo violin part with the right hand.
I think Leo plays it at a slower tempo not because he can't play it faster, but rather, because he chose to play it slower. I'm told that in the late stages of his career he would listen to his old recordings & say, "I played everything too fast!"
I was joking a little bit. Branimir Djokic is very famous in Serbia and I am sure that he can perform Hora staccato just as he can a lot of other pieces too. Aquino is a very good player, of course
Thank you, Milan...I understand! Serbia has many fantastic accordionists & Branimir Djokic is certainly one of them. I see he plays a "Sonola" just as I do.
Awesome
What a masterly performance capturing the Romanian spirit.
The original song was composed by the famous gypsy violinist from Romania, Grigoraș Dinicu in 1906.
Thanks for the extra information Emanuel!
Awesome.
Glad you liked it!
Deosebit ! 🎹❤️🙏👍👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
EXCCELENT !!
Heifetz The greatest violinist in the world. I pray he was saved.
Beautiful....Very well played...Congratulations, maestro
Thank you too!

RIP Leo Aquino 1931 - 2022 Leo passed away on February 4th.
Yes, but thankfully, he left us so much good accordion music to remember him by. May the Lord rest his soul!
Nice and clean and at a great tempo. A lot of Mr. Aquino’s earlier recordings are a bit too fast for me. RIP
You're right & in his later years Leo acknowledged that fact himself.
Thanks

Wow~ is this played by one accordion?
Yes, & with no dubbing. The nice thing about the accordion is that you can play the piano accompaniment part of this composition with the left hand & the solo violin part with the right hand.
@@accordionland1205 Thank you. Heifetz would be delighted if he could still alive and hear you.
Maybe Branimir Djokic can perform it better

The interpretation of Jan Meijer was excellent. Listen to it
My personal favorite: Bojan Jovanovic th-cam.com/video/KnOi4YEX1Os/w-d-xo.html nice modulations in the finale too
