    I like using Gigapixal and then I run it through Lightroom and use the enhance feature, sometime even play with the color. I get some really good results. Great vid.

    Try upscaling a watercolor image in upscayl. Do a double 4x upscale using the detailed photo engine. The output will be animated. It completely changes the look of the image and it’s pure awesomeness.

      Really cool! I'll check that out. It does seem quite powerful, especially for a free program.

    TY. Great comparison, Wade. I guess the big difference between the MJ upscaler compared to Topaz is that MJ is a default one shot approach, whereas Topaz Photo AI has a number of settings and variations you can choose/modify, depending on the image and style of upscaling you're after. That alone sets Topaz head & shoulders above the others, IMHO.

    • @WadeMcMaster
      @WadeMcMaster  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I agree mate, it also handles so many things better in regards to detail imo too

    you cant use the midjourney upscale on custom photos (or inpaint them), so midjourney is a walled garden and hence useless to me. unlike the others.

      Agreed. I'm a huge fan of the Topaz programs for that reason, the best at the job and the most versatile

    Allways good info - thanks for that. When you zoomed in were you going to 100% or above? Also what about upscaling to the 8000 to 1000 size, do you still like Topaz the best?

    • @WadeMcMaster
      @WadeMcMaster  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I was going beyond 100% in some cases to really bring it out . I do think Topaz is the best by far, really solid upscaler!

      I have on1 2024 with the improved upscaler. I down loaded Topaz Gigapixel and am using the on1 upscaler. Have you tested the on1 aginst others?

    upscayl is actually way more powerful than everything else in terms of output quality, in my opinion. depending on the model. there is a wiiiide range of custom models to choose from. i prefer 4nomos8ksc. the downside, of course, is the lack of sliders, options and settings. that's why i have to stick to topaz as well.

    • @WadeMcMaster
      @WadeMcMaster  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I do need to dive deeper into it. Topaz is very easy out of the box though too. Both of these are only going to get better :)

      What is "4nomos8ksc"?
      Google gives 0 search results.
      Edit: I found it, it seems to be included in a package called "Upscayl - Custom Models" which can be found on Github.

    Can i ask since GigaPixel is an offline software (I guess so) , what are the safety aspects such like if it uses unlicense copy right database to patch pixel such as an accurate face, or if my images are used to train the model as such?

    • @WadeMcMaster
      @WadeMcMaster  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Im sorry I don't have the definitive answer for that, however it don't think it trains on your images, you typically download the updated files to run the AI and the rest seems to be offline

    Don’t forget to hide the layers below too, because usually they have An effect on the layers above U can try to multiply A photo and And you will see the change that will happen

    • @WadeMcMaster

      Yeah, if you change it from normal or from 100% opacity, that's right

  • @rarindraprakarsa4376

    How about blending MJ upscale and Gigapixel with two layers and set certain opacity ?

    Thanks for this information. I have downloaded upscayl but find that I can't use that version with my macOS 10.14.6 and that it works only on macOS 12 or later. Are there any earlier versions of upscyl available for download?

    • @WadeMcMaster
      @WadeMcMaster  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I had a look and couldn't find one sorry, but if you search Google a bit deeper than I did or contact them, they may be able to provide you with a link

      @@WadeMcMaster Thanks for taking the time to answer. Spent quite some time searching even Apple store. But I found out that there is no suitable app that can meet my needs. Most of the apps work only in higher macOS versions that that which I currently have. I did try out one app, Photoins, but find that their outputs, though nice, have a watermark on them. You need to pay them for the upgraded version to use their enhancer and have outputs without the watermark. I tried out another app, but this wouldn't accept the low resolution image I tried to improve: the app accepts images only of a higher resolution [666x?] and above. I did find a way out. Importing the low resolution image into the Mac's Photos app, making necessary edits, and exporting the image as png with higher width dimension.
      Thanks once again for your answer. Have a great day Brother.

      No worries mate. There is an online service called IMGlarger which shoudl work on any device - however it is premium after a couple of upscales.

    Old photos with small sizes and you will notice immediately the differances between all of them.

    • @WadeMcMaster

      Definitely, they are notoriously difficult to upscale.

    Tbh, while the Hulk things were obvious, maybe I'm just lacking the critical visual acquity but these tend to look like barely unchanging images in comparison of upscalers

    • @WadeMcMaster
      @WadeMcMaster  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Maybe its lost in the video - but there's a definite difference in sharpness, even at the same resolution. Topaz definitely seems to favor more detail and sharp edges - I think the face is the best example of that, you may need to make sure the video is serve at 1080p on TH-cam or possible a bigger screen (if you're using a tablet or phone).
      It can be nit picky at times but when creating art or prints, I think it will make a notable difference.
      The midjourney upscaler is just a bit too blurred for me - its not blurry, but it doesnt seem to enhace as much as just increase the size and smooth things out, whereas Topaz adds detail.
      I hope that helps!

      @@WadeMcMaster pls brother break it down for us in a way very understandable as the 3 vids from my other fav MJ n AI master first schoolers were too much for me to understand (from someone here who’s hosting over 100+ web design clients and usually working on 3-4 new websites I only have minutes to focus on all the new creative luv!)

      I hear you man, I'm just getting out of the web design freelance side of things myself, your brain is cooked! Overall, Topaz offers the best upscale, Midjourney's is good also but a little less sharp - Upscayl wasn't as good as either - all my opinion tho :)

    This comparison is irrelevant when it comes to scaling real photos. AI generated photos are smother, lacking detail. Topaz and Upscayl are designed to scale real photos

      I might check out that as a comparison idea

  • @ricr8987

    Topaz Gigapixel ruins all the images. While the app increases the size, if you zoom in, you get a 'vector' filter look, and all the details are lost. I dot not recommend get this app if you work with portraits, even the hair looks weird, and I tried all the filters and adjustment possible.
