Very Cool Video. A yellow filter will show the powder a little better. If you use the flashlight very much you will want to get the yellow uv protection glasses. These uv lights make your eyes sore after a while.
Normal washing detergent also glows under UV as do some toothpastes. Vitamin B tablets also glow as does olive oil, ketchup and peanut butter -all to varying degrees. I use washing detergent to track rats in attics.
This is exactly the concept I used to catch my cheating gf. Put some in her panties then checked my roommates underwear in his laundry some days later and what do u know...she's a cheating ho!
We've been using this sort of technique in the industry for years in the UK. It's just florescent chalk dust, completely inert and harmless but very useful. We usually put it neat on a piece of card or paper so that it can be removed. I've been told it's incredibly useful to fill a bait box with wool impregnated with tracking dust, but I've never done it myself. I have to say it's very impressive. It's got a far greater tracking range than using it neat. I'll start using that technique now.
this is a neat idea. Killing them with snap traps stops the issue for a few days. Tracking down the holes and blocking them up will actually solve the problem
Today is my girlfriends birthday and we love watching your videos together we are so happy to see you upload a video today :) me and her and our dog are the only people that showed up to her party today thank you for making us smile 😁🤠
That's amazing! It lead you straight to the opened pipe! What an awesome idea. I bet you could stuff that wool back inside and reuse it in every room / area. Basically as long as it isn't wet it probably is just as useful as the day you opened it... Cool find!
My uncle who keeps pigeons in the UK found this really interesting. The rats come especially when the pigeons have young and they will kill and eat the baby pigeons. As this is in his garden it's a really handy way of finding out which direction they're coming from or nesting. Great video!
@@amatsukiko yeah. They're opportunistic. If they can get a gold of it they will. They'll kill a ferret in a fight if it's a big right. They can be nasty little bleeders
I just gotta let you know I think you have 1 of the best channels on TH-cam! All the content is informative and I have learned so much from you! Thank you for all that you do 👌🏾❤️from Tennessee!
This is a really cool product! Wish I knew about it a couple months ago, when my parents got a mouse in their basement. They couldn't figure out where it was living, or how it came in. My parents had a lot of trouble catching the mouse. The mouse was almost rat-like in intelligence. It would set off traps and take the bait. But eventually, a snap trap was the mouse's downfall. They would have caught the mouse a lot quicker if they could have figured out where it was sleeping. Before it was caught, the mouse had torn through a lot of food stored in the basement. Next time I or someone in my family has a mouse problem, I will definitely buy this product.
Great video, Shawn- it looks like a very effective product! Hope things are going OK with your family- that everyone is healing quickly and are going to be fine.
Reminds me of how Arnold follows the trail of Predator’s blood that is glowing in the cave. Then the blood trail stops only to find out the predator is right on top of him as blood trickles down. One of my fav movies.
that's very cool. if they can't get in, you prevent your problem. this shows you where to secure the area. it's not a new method. because of your chann I've seen old black and white movies of tracking techniques and using powder around bait to track rodent footsteps is an old trick. but this is a new spin on it
Man Sean I'm only halfway through your video and this is definitely one of your best videos so far that you've made and I've been a subscriber for a wicked long time I can't wait for the ending I'm only halfway through but I just want to make a comment so you know how good this video is,... and by the way just so you know I've watched every single video you've made since then and it's been over a year or more
Great video. This is a great idea. Thank you Shawn for sharing this. I bet it could have a few other uses.? Do you think you could take out the wool and maybe put around your grain bin to see if you have a problem and then back track it.? Or would that not work.?
Thanks for this. I could trap rodents forever but knowing where they are entering is the other half of the equation. Block the entry points then trap them. Anymore ideas about tracking their movements would be amazing.
Sometimes TH-cam will do funky stuff to videos because of linked content in description and what not. That mainly started for Shawn when people where flagging his videos about seeing dead animals like rats and mice but originally from his primitive hunting videos.
I’ve heard that doing the same with tide laundry detergent, (the dry form) and using a black light you can track them as well. Can you try that out please?
I'm shocked at just how well the trail tracks all over the place. It should be great for me because I have mice getting in the house every few months or so and I have no idea where they're coming in. I may have to look into this.

Every time Shawn brings out his pet mice:

lmao too true. Shawn is perpetually pooed on
"ooh she pooped on me. good thing i'm wearing gloves."
I didn't see his other hand remove it, felt like he ate it 😂

It's ok he ate 2 testicles from a rat

Please do some more tracking at night, maybe put a motion camera at their nest.
Please make more of these tracking videos!! This is very interesting, you could learn a lot by tracking many pests!!

The mainly thing here is how you reinvented your content due to the TH-cam policy, great video.

I bet it could have a few other uses.? Do you think you could take out the wool and maybe put around your grain bin to see if you have a problem and then back track it.? Or would that not work.?
Id assume that since the wool if essentially coated in the powder then so long as you dont shake to much powder off it would work
@@WolfysMagic
Thank you and I agree with you.
Worked well! Didn’t have to give it a lil flip into the trash.
& I would have gotten away with it too if not for that pesky powder.
This is an awesome video! Very impressive product.
Could you bait a snap trap with wool -maybe use a light adhesive to keep it in place?
As effective as wool is, peanut butter is still better. They like it just as much and it's easily applied.
It might be nice to do a side-by-side comparison, (without traps), to observe how the rodents respond to each.
You should make a video setting all the traps you have at once
Does the manufacturer give any instructions for cleaning the powder trails?
This is seriously so cool! Can you do more of this???
00:25 oh hi Mark 😂

Kinda wondering if you intentionally leave them somewhat alone

Well Shawn, we cant see anything if you turn the black light off either lol.

So is a video going to be coming showing you how to plug the holes?
I’ve heard that doing the same with tide laundry detergent, (the dry form) and using a black light you can track them as well. Can you try that out please?
What a good vlog mate.

that's pretty neat, how about you try to use that to see where our opossum and skunk lives ?
I have clever mice in my home, Will the powder scare them away?
This was actually pretty cool
So cool. I never thought this existed!!
So what do you do with your pet mice? Are they pet store mice or wild mice u caught and turned into pets
I can read do not touch... what is going on if a owl eat your glow mice? She dies?
