My park at least even has workout stations with instructions on how to execute each workout. Got a nice track, tennis court, basketball court, volleyball court and pool. I can’t stand a gym that has broken equipments, nasty showers, overpriced smoothies and shakes, and honestly smells like a dead skunk.

If there is a smaller, tight nit gym in your area, and you can make it work, I highly recommend it. I pay a little extra per month and drive slightly further, but the experience of actually being at the gym, even at peak hours, is so much better than big commercial gyms.
This is what I do too! I feel like I've hit the jackpot with my gym. I'm in a big city and go to the small neighborhood rec center a block from my apartment. It has a basketball court, a cardio room, a 6 lane lap pool (only had to split lanes once in 2 years), and a weight room but only one bench and one power rack. Luckily, most people there aren't fitness fanatics and usually stick to the machines, so I can almost always get my planned lifts in without waiting, even at 6pm. The hours are limited though (9am-8pm), so can only really do 6pm. It's a small tight knit crowd with familiar faces too. Best part is it's only $12/month. It doesn't have everything in the world, but it has everything you need, feels tight knit, and isn't crowded at 6pm. Hard to beat that!
I hit the jackpot and got a small privately owned gym run by two competitive bodybuilders (husband and wife) right around the corner from my house, basically a block away from the Planet Fitness I was THINKING of going to. I'm really glad I made the right choice! I've never seen anything that insane, even at the busiest of times!
Yeah I did the 1 am and loved it up until a year when I had to remember the weirdos come out at that time. Yes the gym was empty but having that one weird guy who also comes in, and sings along loudly with his headphone music while talking to himself is just as annoying as a packed gym.
I did that, but it made me really tired at work, which also requires a lot of movement (I'm a cook). Changed to nighttime workout after work. The workout isn't as productive because I'm already tired from working, but I can then go straight to sleep after working out and not be as tired and achy at work.
@@SirGlitch-A-Lot I'm glad I don't have "normal" 9-5 work hours, I would be stuck in that madness instead of basically having everything in the gym at my disposal lmao
Dealing with this at my gym made me cancel my membership. People can see you waiting and will take 30+ minutes to use a machine. Now I just bike outside for exercise. It became too inconvenient to be worth it. Public gyms are full of many inconsiderate people and some just go there to socialize and not actually workout.
The worst are the gym bros that come in packs of at least 4 deep to a machine, you can kiss that machine goodbye for the next hour or so. Nothing wrong with socializing at the gym, just don't take up equipment when you do so.
@@Mr-jj3gp I'm a night shift worker so it works out perfectly for me. I'm not a big fan of the gym either but it's a good way to kill time when the family is asleep and I cant do anything noisy lol
I can’t do it. I have to go to the gym in the middle of the night. My gym is 24 hour. I normally get there 3 am so I can be gone before people start getting there at 4 am.
This is why I love gyms that track & record occupancy on their website. People who want to avoid crowds to either not wait or avoid getting hit on can see where the slow times are. Now if only gyms would make a section/ time block where influencers/youtubers had to reserve to keep them at a reasonable #. Straight up banning them during the rushes should be a standard thing as well.
@@ruthhorowitz7625 sounds good. I have a multifunctional bench for arms and legs - for bench pressing and leg lifting, for example. There is also a pull-up wall, a rowing machine, various bands and several dumbbell and barbell bars with various weight plates from 0.5KG to 15KG. I also have 2 mats, an incline bench for abdominal muscle training and the cross trainer unfortunately had to be moved to the shed due to lack of space. 😉 I train every other day with different muscle groups and walk several kilometers every day with my two dogs in the forest and fields in the area. I am now 59 years old, do a maximum of 34 pull-ups in training and am fit. So I don't need to go to a gym for my workout. That just takes time and would distract me.😁

@@F4billionyearzag0 people who are NOT as committed as you, who try to shame you for being into the gym. I get this a lot from the people at the front desk.
@Abstractsvision oh wow I don't know if I ever experienced that 🤔
Yeah, the funny part is the people who work at the gym they’re like fat or somewhat out of shape. I feel like it’s part of the all inclusive culture, putting people in places they kind of don’t belong not to be rude to go to the gym six years ago, totally different vibe. There was actually fitter people working there, maybe the pandemic🤷♂️
I've never known a gym rat that isn't one of the most obnoxious, temperamental, and self-serving people on the planet. This Short is just a tiny smidge of evidence of that. They worship themselves and want everyone else around them to worship them. It's actually a very gross culture to be a part of.

If there is a smaller, tight nit gym in your area, and you can make it work, I highly recommend it. I pay a little extra per month and drive slightly further, but the experience of actually being at the gym, even at peak hours, is so much better than big commercial gyms.
This is exactly where I go. Plus, you don't have a whole slew of people filming themselves or acting like they own the place.
The negative of that is tho its small so even if there are like 8 ppl your gonna have to wait
@@i2a7-of2juThere's always a trade off.

Not every can be a consistent early bird. Especially if they work late or are a student
Its all about efforts and determination
I did that, but it made me really tired at work, which also requires a lot of movement (I'm a cook). Changed to nighttime workout after work. The workout isn't as productive because I'm already tired from working, but I can then go straight to sleep after working out and not be as tired and achy at work.

This is possibly why home gyms are becoming popular now.
This. They just sit on the machines and chat away then act like an asshat if you tell them to move.
True and fights were getting too frequent, I started watching my back every now and then so I won’t get sucker punched.

This is why I love gyms that track & record occupancy on their website. People who want to avoid crowds to either not wait or avoid getting hit on can see where the slow times are. Now if only gyms would make a section/ time block where influencers/youtubers had to reserve to keep them at a reasonable #. 😉
I train every other day with different muscle groups and walk several kilometers every day with my two dogs in the forest and fields in the area.
