One reason that might happen is using a minus (on the right) instead of a negative (on the bottom). Or, it could be not closing a parenthesis. Let me know if either of those solves it!

No matter if I use the table or not the answer is always coming out to -43/3. Can you help me see where I went wrong? (9)²+5/3(9) = -43/3
I'm so glad they've been helpful! For that one, 9 is the answer, so you could plug in the answers and see when x = each answer, which turns the whole thing into 9. Or, if you're using the table, look to y = 9 and see which x makes that work. Hope that helps!
Love the videos, been helping me out alot but on the first question my online calculator (Ti-30XS Multiview) gives me 108 instead of -16 any idea how to fix that?
Hey there, for that one, replacing x with -6 turns the equation into: 5(-6)^2 + 2((-6) - 3) we'll use the white negative button for the negative - signs in front of the 6's and a minus sign - in front of the 3. Hope that helps!
It might have been the 12•-2 in the middle, did you have a -2 there times 12? Or, it could have been 3(-2)^2 and putting the squared on the outside of the parentheses for the first part
Good question! Functions like these are just substitutions while determining functions are the tables/graphs, seeing if it fits the definition of a “function” like a vending machine. Hope that helps a little
