I'm a commercial truck driver and have been thinking about buying my own rig and becoming an owner/operator. A new sleeper semi 🚛 that would have cost me $110k in 2019 is almost $200k in today's market. This inflation can't last forever, eventually the manufacturers will be forced to come back to reality and lower their prices, people can't afford this.

My 1978 Chevrolet Silverado looks so good in my driveway. Drive it everyday and maintain just like new. Remember if you maintain your vehicle like it is the last vehicle you will ever own you will not have to replace that vehicle.

not quite half that. but some years back i had to buy a new truck as some fool ran into me and totaled out my paid for 1999 truck. new truck is having problems with some of the computer crap already. only been on the rd 4 years.
I've had my GMC truck for 19 years and my Lexus for 17 years. Both are running fine. I look at a new vehicle every few months but there is NO WAY I'd buy any of this junk. Lexus is complete garbage at this point so every time I go there I spend a few minutes, ask a few questions, laugh at the salesperson and leave. Sometimes Chevy acts interested in selling me a new truck, but the price and terms are awful. I've told them I'll buy their new vehicles USED with 80% depreciation before I'd ever buy one new. Both my older vehicles were bought new so that is the sad state of the economy now.
I couldnt beleive people were still buying new vehicles when the price reached 40k. I' ve been driving my '94 s10 4x4 for the past 10 years. $1500 truck that now has 226k miles. Still gets as many looks as a brand new 1, and i don't have a bank calling me asking for my beer money. I have never put myself in a situation, where i'm tied to a job in fear of bankruptcy.
I bought a new truck (all f150s) every three years from '92 until 2007, then bought one that i had until 2017. Then bought the one I have (a 2017 lariat) that I paid 55000 for. I'm done now and will keep this until my end. 50000 miles on it and I am now retired. I feel sorry for anyone who has to buy a new vehicle now days. Way overprice and just a total ripoff.
Dealers believing that affordability will magically get better in 2025 is a totally stupid view in my opinion. Most people today can't afford a $50,000 vehicle and some of these vehicles are 80 thousand bucks.
For me, the ultimate truck would be one that had a bed that would fit a 4x8 sheet of plywood between the wheel wells and would have a king cab so that I could keep my tools and things inside the cab. That's it. These modern trucks that are basically big four-door cars with the lid removed from the trunk are not what I'm looking for at all. No thank you.
The truck makers need to start actually thinking. Part of the reason trucks are so expensive is they have to add all the gadgets and power everything. I would tell them to go back to a good basic truck. Think trucks of the seventies. They would be solid and gain a good reputation. They would be cheap to make and they would sell like hot cakes.
dump the crap. manual windows, un-powered door locks. body's made of STEEL. not tin or worse alum. just need a good strong work truck with power/torque, with ac and heater. sure my old body likes better than a bench seat, but i ill take that. i do not need a fancy stereo, or gps, etc.
Can't build them, can't sell them. Never would make it past the EPA, NHTSA and all the other Gov't agencies that are sticking their fingers into your vehicle. Think about all the "safety" items meant to save texters and drivers from themselves. It's mandated and every gadget adds to the price. Now move on to the fuel economy standards. A 351 would never make it out of design now.
I will never pay these people an amount that’s not worth the vehicle anymore…never…thanks to you guys making all these videos I now have a birdseye view over the entire market.
Back during rhe depression of 1929 a neighboring farm of 640 acres (which was really sizable then) had a couple of hundred fat steers ready for market. The price want good so they held on to them and kept feeding them. The cattle market totally collapsed and they lost the entire farm. My dad used that story for one of my many life lessons.
Huge lot rot. No one want to buy a new vehicle that has sat for 500 days in some dealership, Dead batteries, Oil sitting never changed from factory, never been run or used, worst thing to do any vehicle is let it sit unused for a long period of time.
Keep up the good work people. Continue to let these auto manufacturers we can't afford and don't want your garbage for the astronomical prices being charged for junk

My second one was a Chrysler Sebring 2004 with 100K km, I paid C$9000 (plus tax) for it and when I sold it it had 250K km on it. I was at the local ford dealership yesterday. 11 to 13 thousand off on f150's. Most everything was a 2.7 ecoboost tho. I didn't know if I want that. And even with discounts I don't want to pay 50g's for a xlt truck. I might go back in a couple of weeks and throw down a lowball offer and walk out. If they want to sell it they can call me. If not I'll drive my 2011 f150 5.0 with 145,000 miles running strong.
Back in 2003 my wife & I bought a one year old “ used “ 2002 GMC Sierra 2500 HD LB-7 powered Crew cab with almost 80,000 miles on it !!! I asked the seller how the Hell he racked up 80 k miles in only one year and he said it was driven daily from Here in San Diego to his job in Los Angeles, racking up 250 plus freeway miles daily . It was $57,000 plus new to him & we bought it for $38,000 . I STILL own it & drive it daily & it’s been hands down one of my best vehicles I’ve ever owned in my almost 65 years in life. I’m just floored by the insanely high prices on Trucks & cars these days & can almost guarantee that most will not still be driving relatively problem free 22 years later like my truck has been doing . It’s not as simple to work on as my ‘67 Chevy pickup or my old ‘72 GMC Jimmy was ( still sorry I ever sold either one back in my younger days ) , but my ‘02 doesn’t require a PHD in electronics to work on it either . The days of cheap cars & trucks are indeed over I’m sorry to say , as tightening emissions and Federal standards just keep adding more & more Bullshit to vehicles to comply and that in turn drives up prices to manufacture them to meet the increasing standards . Too bad ….. we had a good run there for awhile. 🫤
There are zero trucks in any dealership or any brand that I would pay more than $50,000 for!! I will drive my diesel dodge until the wheels fall off before spending that kind of money on a new truck!! And if more Americans stopped buying new, overpriced junk, like the F 150 lightning, those a holes would be forced to lower prices and make better vehicles!! It’s insane that the last new truck I bought was $47,000 and had all the options I wanted and that truck costs $95,000 today!

I'm a commercial truck driver and have been thinking about buying my own rig and becoming an owner/operator. A new sleeper semi 🚛 that would have cost me $110k in 2019 is almost $200k in today's market. This inflation can't last forever, eventually the manufacturers will be forced to come back to reality and lower their prices, people can't afford this.
some pick up trucks are for sale at those prices.
Garbage prices for garbage cars that wont even last as long as the loan term. Wait for the real Deals when 90% of these dealerships start going under with their mountain of lot rot.
Why is every industry such a disgraceful fucking scam these days.

I have a 93 GMC 2500 Detroit Diesel and I maintain it and won't even consider a new vehicle until the prices come back to reality. Not interested. Between that and my '89 I ROC Z 28, all the vehicles I need.

Too many fools “have to have it” and their parents didn’t teach them about managing money
Cant do that here, rust will destroy it eventually, wish we had a dry warm climate but heh...
I want a $40,000 truck. V8, 4 wheel drive, Air, Power steering, radio, and that's about all I need.
Right on!
that's still too much
I just want a Diesel powered small pickup or Jeep Wrangler. They had them both on the market 2 years ago, but since America is going communist and our freedoms are going out the door, we don't have any freedom of choice for the vehicle we want to drive. Land of the free my ass. I didn't fight for this.
I will sell you my V8 4 wheel drive truck right now for 15k. 😅
Archie 40 k still to high try 20 k.
29 short years ago I bought my first home for 55k. Log cabin on 5 acres with garage. Paying 80K for a truck, mentally impossible.
They’ve got them way higher than that as well.
FYI people already maxed out credit cards it will take years to get out of this mess. Stealerships and manufacturers are morons selling unreliable trucks at insane prices.
They're bluffing don't fold or these idiotic prices will never stop.
They are trying to hold out as long as possible, because they know the moment they start dropping prices in will never go back up at least for a very long time.

I cant imagine buying a new truck for 80-100k, then starts up on fire two months in and insurance denies.
I know I can wait longer for a new truck than these dealers can wait to sell them.
Hell yeah!!!!!
I loved your sarcasm when it comes to "The Deals"😜
I couldnt beleive people were still buying new vehicles when the price reached 40k.
I' ve been driving my '94 s10 4x4 for the past 10 years.
$1500 truck that now has 226k miles. Still gets as many looks as a brand new 1, and i don't have a bank calling me asking for my beer money.
I have never put myself in a situation, where i'm tied to a job in fear of bankruptcy.
Beer?? 4.3 ?? No debt ?? Smartest fella in the room lol
The looks are the problem. Too many seek that gratification
6 months ago The prices were ridiculous and they're still ridiculous and they're still not selling
Dealers believing that affordability will magically get better in 2025 is a totally stupid view in my opinion. Most people today can't afford a $50,000 vehicle and some of these vehicles are 80 thousand bucks.
Yup, like you said, garbage prices for garbage quality….
can not even use the word "quality" in that sentence.
Yes exactly, I don't want a 6 way folding tailgate with an electric latch.
dump the crap. manual windows, un-powered door locks. body's made of STEEL. not tin or worse alum.
just need a good strong work truck with power/torque, with ac and heater. sure my old body likes better than a bench seat, but i ill take that. i do not need a fancy stereo, or gps, etc.
How a dealer can try to sell old stock with high garbage prices attached is beyond belief! Consumers are getting smart.
I will never pay these people an amount that’s not worth the vehicle anymore…never…thanks to you guys making all these videos I now have a birdseye view over the entire market.
They have priced themselves out of the market!
Bank is letting them get away with this? No buy for me with these prices.😢
then look at the rates the banks charge to finance said truck.....
who's the bigger crook?
Huge lot rot. No one want to buy a new vehicle that has sat for 500 days in some dealership, Dead batteries, Oil sitting never changed from factory, never been run or used, worst thing to do any vehicle is let it sit unused for a long period of time.
100 days is bad.

That’s total crap. Hyundai dealerships don’t do that brand any favors. Just go lease a Tesla for $300 a month man. No dealerships, it’s a fair price.
Wait 6 months and take 10k, make the sales worms fight each other for it
I only blame the consumers at this point.
Corporate greed is endless. People coming to work for corporations to collect paychecks nowadays. I have been in Canada since 1999. My first Dodge Caravan 1995 I purchased for C$9500 (plus tax) with $140K km on it and when I sold it, it had $430K on it. My second one was a Chrysler Sebring 2004 with 100K km, I paid C$9000 (plus tax) for it and when I sold it it had 250K km on it. Then I purchased a Dodge Grand Caravan 2007 with 66K km on it and paid C$9500 (plus tax), now it has 215K km. I have spent less than C$30K on my vehicles since 1999 in Canada!

When I took my wife 2016 buick encore to get service, I saw a 2500 Denali truck. It looked nice but the service advisor told me it had one in the shop the other day.

I like your style. Honest and sarcastic. … sometimes the truth hurts. Cheers (from Canada).
the dealers are hoping for a government bail out again.
