    Congrats on 200 even though it was several months ago.😊
    I have a question about some of the containers you use.
    Some appear to be regular bowls or cups. Did you drill drain holes in them or do you put something in the bottom to keep the roots out of the water in the bottom?

    Great channel Liz! My green thumb has been recently reactivated. I received some succulents and cacti as a tip for some work that I had completed. 😅 plants are Not what I expected to receive but now that their in my care I feel I need to give them the same effort I've been putting into my other hobbys, a full on maximum effort.
    You had used some type of seaweed/kelp solution in your master soil video... I cant find that specific brand, I keep finding things that contain Yuka and kelp and its marketed as a wetting agent. Would this solution be ideal?
    In my research into Coco coir, I tend to hear the most from hemp farmers... However the soil mix they put together is not as airy as what is needed for succulents. They use terms like "Living soil", "Compost teas", "Charging the coco with Cal-Mag& molasses". 😅 I guess really what I'm trying to figure out is how do you sort out your nutrition long term and on a small scale? All my plants are in a small grow tent with a 100w 2x2 grow light about 300mm from the soil.
    😅 Sorry for all the questions Liz, I know its kind of a broad topic with many conditions one would have to accommodate for. Considering I live close to NYC and im not working with alot of room to grow Ihave to think smart and utilize off-site storage to my advantage so knowing what supplies I should have at the ready to keep the soil doing its thing for the plants is something I'm considring atm and so I dont end up with a bunch of cluttering supplies I'll only need a few times a year. 👍 No need to respond in detail, maybe doing another video around my situation would make for some more good content for you since your OG soil mix video is how I found you, the universe must really be pulling me towards you since it gave you the neat gift of growing haha. Thanks in advance!

      Thanks for watching. Your questions are simple enough and is covered under these videos below. For soil wetter, you can use any Liquid Seaweed. Even the ones use for Tomato is good. Succulents don't need much nutrients and this is covered in my different soil mixes especially my MASTER Succulent soil mix. A top up of 10:10:10 slow release fertilizer once a year is all they need depending on the condition of the plant.
      You can also take a look at my other Succulent Soil mix below this video in the description box.

    Hi Liz. I have a large jade plant . It is under the shade of a pergola, but our weather in Texas has been in the 100's for over a month. It is very sunburned on one side. I would like to prune it back and let it start rebuilding. Is it a bad time? When is good. I don't think she can wait until Spring.

    • @GrowingSucculentswithLizK
      @GrowingSucculentswithLizK  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can start pruning it and keep even the burnt ones as they might still grow. They can be kept indoors with bright light and they will grow roots even in winter as long as the temperature is kept between 10 to 28°C | 50 to 82°F. Once roots shows, plant in fast draining soil and if it happens in winter, water sparingly. Good luck.

    Do you have any tips for growing the Chinese Dunce? The one you showed in the beginning of your video growing in the star shaped pot inside your grow tent. That is the one I struggle with most. How often do you water yours when it’s indoors under a grow light? I can’t tell if I’m under watering or over watering. It keeps looking like it’s drying out. What soil do you use for it? What does it prefer? Does it like to be watered more like aeoniums or echeverias? I love the look of it so much but I just can’t keep it looking nice.
    HELP!!! 😝

    • @ForeverASucculentAddict
      @ForeverASucculentAddict ปีที่แล้ว

      PS I’m in MinneSNOWta USA and I grow all my succulents under grow lights in my house where it’s dry and is 75 degrees Fahrenheit all the time. All year round. I keep my Chinese dunce in a very bright location next to grow lights but not directly under the grow lights like I do for my echeverias.

    • @GrowingSucculentswithLizK
      @GrowingSucculentswithLizK  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@ForeverASucculentAddict Like most succulents, Dunce Caps prefers to be watered heavily but less often. The plant will show signs of needing watering (soft leaves, dry soil or light pot). I grow mine in my Master Succulent soil mix.
      They're summer growers and will die down to nothing in winter in my Zone 9 area (we have frost); but can survive extreme cold(-30°F).
      Grown indoors as shown in this video, I was able to control the growing temperature to stop dormancy. My same dunce caps growing outdoors ATM have gone dormant(bare soil/no plants showing). They prefer bright light and very little fertilizer. They are also monocarpic(die after flowering) but easily puts out babies for continual propagation.

    Hello Liz. I am new to your channel and am enjoying Very much your videos. I am just getting into succulents again. J placed a small order and as usual there was an elephant bush cutting in there. I haven't had much luck with them. How can I get this one to live?? It is about a 4 inch cutting. I started it in water and the leaves are starting to shrivel, as usual. Something always goes wrong. No water?? Lay on coco peat until roots form??. Please....I am at a loss. Please help. Thanks you for any advice.

    • @GrowingSucculentswithLizK
      @GrowingSucculentswithLizK  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Elephant bush grows like weeds in hot and dry places. They don't like the cold. Cuttings have to be mature with a node. If they're too young(soft tips), they won't grow roots and just dry up. You can lay a "mature" cutting on top of the soil and in time, they will grow roots. Then you can plant them in the soil.

      Black stems are an indication of rotting due to too much watering. In Summer, once temperature hit over 30°C | 86°F, I stop watering altogether. Unless of course they are in desperate need of watering. Then I take them indoors or somewhere cooler and soak them.

      @@GrowingSucculentswithLizK and it is ok to take them out after the soaking? Or you let it inside for few days and bring it out?
