Blue wires are usually the dimmer lead.I’m assuming they left extra cable if have an aftermarket radio gauges that take a 12V+ for the lights on/off signal. Radio amps too, at least those are usually blue.
not all bmw 3 or 4 series have this oem led ad the buttonm, how to connect the cable then!? all radio led trim you can order didnt have the information but it should fit to all this cars models.

Hey i have the same trim but i cant change the colour from orange to blue, because i domt habe the option to in the menu.what can i do to get the option ?
Hi there. I have the BMW 320d Touring (F31) - 2017 - and below my Radio there is no cupholder light connector. It's empty. The series seems not to come with a light below the radio. So how can I wire the ambient LED's now? ... by the way: the Amazon description of the LED ambient radio part says, that my model is full supported, LOL
Don't know if you solved it but ambient lightning is actually an upgrade feature that you purchase when you order your car. If your car does not have ambient lighting I'm afraid you cannot install this upgrade. You'll have to look into another option unfortunately.
You can wire it to the wires that go to the central lock button. brown to brown and orange (or if you prefer blue) to light grey-red wire which is the dimming wire. Since the trim has already a Y cable, you can cut the wires that go to one connector to wire on your cars harness that go the the central lock. That way, whenever you want to take off the trim, just you unplug the connectors as if it oem.
So I bought the exact one you have in your description, I’m pretty sure I put in the wires the exact way they are in the video, but my led lights will not come on. Am I doing anything wrong ?
Either its faulty or they aren't connected all the way/in the wrong connectors. They will only come on when your headlights are on btw and you need to make sure your brightness isn't set to 0 in the iDrive settings
i never reccommend a screwdriver for clips or all that !!! use plastic tools on market they are very cheap and on most as set or packet with 20 - 30 plastic tools to save oem parts!!!!
Nobody talks about the extra blue cable, no matter which tutorial i watch 😅 I'm so confused why it's there

Did you do anything with the loose blue wire?

Get a cable which splits footwell ambient lighting to either cup holder or radio trim or get one that splits into both
How do you get blue light option mine only has the brightness no choice between sport or classic
Means you don’t have the m sport package
