  • An in-depth view of what it's like to arrive and hike Mt. Wrightson in the Santa Rita Mountains. There's free camping outside of the National Forest as well. It's down the dirt road at the fork before entering the national forest. Camping in the national forest is $20 and day use is $8 or $10 for the week. Keep your eyes peeled for wild turkey running around. Also the Jaguar they got on a trail cam that's been roaming the Santa Rita's. Overall it was a pretty casual hike, if you're fit and hike a lot. I saw some older folks reach the top so it's pretty doable.
MILEAGE: 11.5 miles out and back
TIME: 5:40 hours with filming. Moving time was 4:30
    STRAVA: / strava
I was going pretty quick on the way down so I'd plan for at least 5-7 hours if you don't run down like I did. I didn't see a water fill up so make sure to fill up the night before or at the stream but be sure to use a filter if you do that. Sawyer makes a good squeeze pack for like $20 at www.walmart.co...
So I hope I gave you some good info on hiking Mt. Wrightson! Leave a comment if you have any questions.

Great video, thank you for informing me of what to look for when I hike it. The only problem I have with the video was that the music was too loud and your voice was too low, so I had to keep turning the volume up and down between the music and you talking. Cheers!
