For its price point, the GSP is the best emulator out there. What's really cool is you can utilize your PS5 and Xbox Series X controllers (wired via usb-c) for awesome game play. And the micro sd card slot is where the real goldmine value is found. You simply can't go wrong with this purchase. I'm actually playing my GSP more than any other system I own and I have many platforms at my disposal. Great video and seeya on the next one, Mur!!!
That's gonna be lit! (Do people still say that?) Im gonna load some Genesis & Master System stuff on this bad boy and then probably play the Renovation classics first! Good to see ya, Mark!
@@gklinger I appreciate that! And glad to have you aboard. We have a lot of fun on this show. Definitely would like to hear what you think about the rest of the content. 👍
I just won one of these new, but will have to wait for it to arrive to see all the games... I was hoping to find out if it has dig dug? Didn't know I'd need that power plug piece so I'm glad I stumbled upon this review thanks!
Dig Dug was Namco so it's not on here for licensing reasons. But you can add any game that you want to this thing. I still need to mod mine and I'm hoping to do that soon and make a video!
Out of the box the sound only plays on the left speaker (only updating the firmware fix this). I had to return the first one because it bricked during the firmware update. The 8bitDo wireless Turbografx16/PC engine controller works perfectly witht that thing (with the usbc male to / USBA female), all the buttons are working. I added all the 2600, 5200 and 7800 games on the Micro SD Card and boom 1200+ games. I love the bonus games, a nice selection of games that I am not familiar with. A nice surprise, the cherry on top of a delicious cake.
That's scary talk on that update bricking. Some of the old Flashbacks did that according to people who commented on those tutorial vids. Here's hoping this particular unit behaves! And if you haven't played Countermeasure on 5200 yet, I highly recommend it!
@@Emceemur If it does fail and you cannot return it, there is a simple solution on atari age forum. You open the thing and on the small board you short/jump 2 holes with a paper clip and you will be able to start the flashing again, in fact as much as you want.
I have the Atari 2600+ already. This is still really cool though for sure. Awesome to see the channel getting some attention partnering up. On a side note I think Dash Galaxy is a fun game. Nostalgia factor of course. Can totally see how some don't like it which is fine. How was your Christmas and the new year so far Mur?
The holidays flew by but they were decent. How was yours? I'm looking forward to loading this thing up with more games and I'll be doing that soon. Dash Galaxy definitely begs you to dig deeper into what it is. But the controls frustrated me to no end. It was a game I scored cheap and I wasn't expecting what I got there lol. @@Emceemur Holidays here went well. My niece is due in March with her second child. Traded in my car for something better and more reliable. Good eye! That's what it made me think of. That brush metal finish on the 7800 accent. And yeah, the controllers were a high point for me. Because generally u get cheapos with plug n plays and these are heavy duty with rgb lighting lol.

Great vid brother Murr!! I'm thinking of getting one of these. Can the joysticks be plugged in USB instead of batteries? I like that it has the ability to add 2600,5200,7800 plus Arcade and more.
Yes they can. And yeah man, this thing does Nintendo, Sega and more. We gon load it up! I'll be doing a followup episode for sure, probably a tutorial.
@@Emceemur I'm probably gonna get one soon. I'm really stoked about the Atari 400 mini!!! Looks like it might solve the controller problem for playing 5200 games on it as the new joystick has 7 buttons on it. Plus you can play all kinds of Atari on it 400, 800 etc!!
@@JeffBailey1999 man, I'm hip! Time for some Apshai dungeon delving!! Atari 400 is so cool and it's one of the few units out there I'm really still actively collecting for. My 400 is in mint condition.
$50 is a home run swing! There were some open box units for $70 on Amazon so that's not too bad. But yeah eventually all these come down in price when they sell well initially so that'll be interesting to keep an eye on.
I got mine on clearance for $50 and my experience with this mini is mixed although overall I’m very happy with it. 2600, 5200, 7800 are all great especially the paddle games. The bonus games are slightly unplayable with the joystick for me but I got an adapter for my Xbox controller and now I can enjoy those games. I got sega cd games to work on here and with the Xbox controller this has become a great Atari pi device, especially since my last pi stopped working. The bad part of this mini is the Atari arcade experience with is abysmal. Tempest is probably the worst offender and is a complete mess compared to the version I have on my 1up tempest.
Sega CD, huh? That's incredible!! I wanna get those on here too. My Sega CD still works but hooking it up is like wiring a space station. I didn't get to try Tempest on the unit. The spinner worked well on the games I used it on so I didn't think there were any problems but I will check that out.
@@Emceemur With sega cd you can't have multiple bin files per game and you need to put the bios file in the same folder as the bin game. Almost all sega cd games have a rom version of just 1 bin file; it just takes some digging. Snatcher works well with the atari joystick but I play games like Mickey Mania with the Xbox controller. The spinner doesn't work on Tempest and instead uses the joystick which has the diamond gate... epic fail 🤦♂
I have absolutely zero nostalgia or interest in anything Atari but even I can appreciate that cool controller - they could have gotten away with doing much less but they went all out on it.
A lot of people don't. I started gaming before the NES dropped and I had neighbors/friends with Ataris so I put a lot of time in on em. I can definitely admit a lot of it didn't age well lol. But some of it holds up. And you're right, A+ job on the controller! It was better than I was expecting.
Such a cool unit!...bit I am getting really tired of products not including a charging block! Come on man ...heres the unit but screw you go buy your own power block! Smh...Thanks fir the review brother!
The 5v1a blocks are the iPhone ones so they're everywhere. But the 2v isn't. The one I used was off the Genesis mini. The c64 mini also didn't include one. And Nintendo stopped including 3DS chargers after awhile, that really stunk.
@Emceemur yeah it just seems like everytime I open something it doesn't include the charge blocks amd my kids areb19 and 20 so my blocks go missing all the time! Lol
It actually would, yeah. Because you can add ROMs from other consoles and play Nintendo & Sega 2 player too. These have come down in price too since this video so that's cool. 😎
Well, a minute and 30 seconds. Although that's a lot in TH-cam time. Just to touch on the quality of the hardware though. I felt that was an important detail given how cheap plug and plays can be. And the controllers really won me over. Thanks for watching!
theres not much transparency on "review" videos anymore so as soon as I hear the line "sent to me for review", well it use to be "sent me this for review" but each youtuber gets more stealth at this statement....I get skeptical as can be.
