I have vertigo and feel dizziness and after vomitting I feel relaxed after vomitting. I am suffering from the last 3 to 4 months. I have gone physiotherapy like traction, trans exercies, heat and ultra violet massage but no benefit Sir ji. What should I do Sir ji.
It’s amazing, last time I had a vertigo it was 16 years ago, this morning I woke up, I was crying because you feel lost, I started to search on internet and Doctor I found you, I did the exercises, for me it was very violent because I threw up, I took a nap, but it really works, I turned my head left and right, dizziness were gone, doctor you have no idea what you give for me and for everyone who suffers, thank you so much, merci infiniment,
Thank you so much, this was absolutely terrifying until I learned what it was . It's hard to tell someone who has never felt the violent spinning what it feels like. Thank God there is a fix for this.
Ty for reminding ppl not to give up if it no work after the first time. This is important and so generous of you bc ppl Lose hope if it no work after first time. So so so great you advise us to try a number of rounds. You are an angel.☮️☮️
Thank you for posting this video. After 4 weeks of having vertigo I was cured after 1-2 times of doing this last night. It made me feel unsteady on my feet afterward, had a headache and felt nauseous but I have woken up and the vertigo, headache and nauseous has gone! So happy
Thank you so much! This was my first vertigo episode, after 3 weeks of narrowing down my issues, I found you video, completed the test and focused on this procedure exactly as you described. After my 4th time I am no longer dizzy!! I'm shocked, it really felt like I was dying at times, but your instructions were extremely helpful. Thank you for posting this!
Thank you, this procedure is very well demonstrated and easy to follow along. I have recurring bppv and could never figure exactly how to perform the manoeuvre until now. I'm happy to report that I'm now vertigo-free and no longer need to schedule an appointment with my doctor. Thank you again, your work is very much appreciated.
Thank you Sir! I tried this about 4 times in a row. Yes, I vomitted twice but was prepared in advance. It's been 3 hrs since and I almost have zero symptoms now. I can't than you enough for making this video. Bravo. Outstanding.
This video was a lifesaver for me today. I had my first vertigo outburst a week ago (didn't even know exactly what it is). The next one this morning. I did the suggested test and performed the Epley on both sides. After doing it 7x on my left side, 3x times on my right and 2x severe vomiting the "miracle occured". :) Just want to mention thinking back, there were signs of vertigo for a while, like blocking sensation in my ears, little discomfort now and then, but major discomfort many times while using the air pods, which II use almost everyday while commuting (until now that is). My suspicion is that's what caused or triggered vertigo in my case. THANK YOU SO MUCH Dr.Jon Saunders
I am really happy you commented and mentioned the AirPods! I developed dizziness awhile ago and started to have actual spinning - vertigo. I suspected maybe my constant apple ear bud wear was the cause?? I’ll never know. I stopped using them and then started them again and started getting vertigo skins again .. I have stopped and switched back to one ear basic cheap headphones. How is your vertigo now? Have you had it anymore since the comment a year ago??
For me it triggered while I was sitting in the passenger seat of my car and we were traveling over 4k feet on the mountains pass. I ears popped and had vertigo.
Oh my goodness this really works. 🙏🙏🙏 thank you so much for sharing this video. I woke this morning with severe dizziness and vomiting but after 6 attempts with this manoeuvre I’m completely fine. I’m 69 yrs old and had this about 15 years ago when it took almost 2 weeks to recover naturally. My doctor only prescribed anti nausea medication. I’m currently in travelling alone around Australia in my Motorhome so you can imagine what a problem this could have been for me. 🙏😍
Day 2 of epley maneuver and my vertigo is gone . Still a lil light headed but I can sleep on either side without spinning. It really works! I suffered for 3 weeks it was so debilitating as I had to work. But glad I caught this video. Because it saved me ❤❤🎉🎉. If you ever get diagnosed with bppv do this maneuver… it’s life changing!! Thanks to Dr. Saunders.
This technique definatley fixed it. I have experienced this issue at least once a year. As soon as I followed these directions. The problem was fixed. Thank you.
I can't begin to tell you how much I appreciate this video. I've been dizzy for a few months. Tried some different things with my doctor and she finally referred me to an ENT. I was getting pretty depressed and even fell and cracked a rib once. It was bad. I decided to do my own searching for answers before going to an ENT. Your video came up in a search. I did the exercise the first time and almost vomited. One time I had to hold on to the bed because I felt like I was going to fall off as the room was spinning. After 4 sessions, the dizziness is completely gone. I am beyond thrilled! Thank you so much for this. I was afraid to drive sometimes and needed my husband to drive me when the dizziness was bad. Thank you!! It really did work. I can't wait to tell my doctor that this cured me.
@@drjonsaundersafter sleeping (I'm in new Zealand) I've woken up to feeling slightly different dizzy, more like slightly off balance. No headache, and room spinning when I stand up or lay down like the last few days, should I try the maneuver again?
Thank a lots,, m suffering from vertigo, dizziness, ringing in the ear, nausea,,, I checked your video and practiced exercise and it really help me, m getting improved, m going to practice more, hopefully I ll get completely heal. Once again thank you. God bless you
After months of thinking I had a vestibular condition which was by having cataract surgeries in December 2016 and January 2017. Nobody asked me prior to surgery if I'd ever had an inner ear infection which I discovered while researching my vertigo in May of this year was important to ask. On March 9th of 2017, I flew to Da Nang, Vietnam where I lived for almost two years. I was still recovering from the surgery and it was taking my eyes quite a while to adjust. Shortly after arriving, we went to a four-story mall and took the elevator to the top floor to the food court for dinner. As we stepped out of the elevator, I began to get dizzy and it felt like my knees were going to give way. I had to hang on to my companion to walk across the large expanse shiny white floor with bright lights above, loud music playing, and people rushing by. It was embarrassing, and I felt totally out of control of my body. Then over time, the issue became less and I was able to go to the mall on my own, but held onto walls and railings as I still felt uneasy. Years before, in about 1980, I had the worst inner ear infection anyone at the clinic in Boise, ID had ever seen. The onset was waking up at 4 am to use the bathroom with the room spinning like a five-martini binge, yet I hadn't had even a drop of alcohol in my system. The local doctor was befuddled as I had absolutely no equilibrium and would have dropped to the floor if he hadn't been prepared to catch me when he asked me to close my eyes. I was referred to experts who gave me Antivert and the strongest antihistamine on the market at the time. About a month later, I was finally able to walk unassisted and not look like I was drunk when I did. After returning to the States at the end of January 2019, I didn't notice the problem, though I hardly went anywhere with shiny white floors and bright lights. Then, this past May of 2023, I flew from Portland, Oregon to San Diego, California to spend five days/nights with a friend in Encinitas. After checking my bag at the Alaska counter, I started walking to the terminal gate which seemed to be at least a mile away. Suddenly it hit me, white shiny floor, bright lights, and people rushing by. I was dragging a carry-on and carrying a rather large bag. My knees went weak, I felt disoriented and had to cling to the wall as I was walking like a drunk. By the time I got to San Diego, I was exhausted, frustrated, and committed to getting wheelchair assistance for my return flight...which I did. I vowed to never embarrass and stress myself like that again. I cannot even begin to express my relief having made that decision, though I can walk just fine at home or in familiar territory with no white or light shiny floors. Then, the opportunity came up for me to live in a spiritual community for almost six months in Ajijic, Mexico. I had little time to think about it, as I needed to act on it right away. I decided to go and got my plane tickets complete with wheelchair assistance in Portland, Los Angeles, and Guadalajara. Prior to leaving Oregon, I went to the bank to pick up the pesos I'd ordered. Lo and behold, white shiny floors and nobody to hold me up. I ambled across the floor hoping nobody would take me for a drunk. I've been here in Ajijic for almost two months and my vertigo getting worse again as my vision takes time to adjust as I have to look down so as not to trip on cobblestones or uneven or slanted sidewalks, or not step in dog poop. Finally, I told a group of friends about my frustrating condition that has kept me from enjoying life here and doing activities that are no longer comfortable. One of the women told me she'd had vertigo and went to a chiropractor here who did the Epley maneuver, but that it was possible to do it myself. She said I might give it a try and see if it would work. Well, guess what? It did. After years of discomfort and embarrassment, a five-minute procedure has set me free. I used this video and I'm finally feeling like myself again. WHEW! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Hi Doc I have vertigo for five years My brother coming suicide I taught it was shock My kids did not understand they think I wanted attention I had a mri which confirm 5 types of vertigo I haven't done excesice yet just got results 3 weeks ago Looking forward to doing it Thank you doctor
First, thank you for this clear and helpful demonstration. It worked for me. I think I got the BPPV from my dentist visit that day. I woke up at night to get up and fell immediately back down into bed with the room spinning. I think the cause at the dentist was my head being tilted right for about 45 minutes while the dental assistant used a powered descaler which caused vibrations. I believe the vibration caused the crystals to reposition, causing the BPPV. Again, thanks so much for this. I was really suffering.
I live in Florida and had to dive to bottom of pool last week to plug the main drain. 7' deep. Ever since then ive had positional vertigo. Tried this for right ear was worse on test. Did the exercises. First time not so much. Second time going down could hear something moving around in right ear as i went down, then a little pop and sharp pain. Turning head back to left and again with the quick sharp pain but less dizzy. rolling on to side with head down at 45 no dizzy. Getting up no dizzy. Wow Thankyou very much. Now to the pain. I had a bad scuba experience about 20 years ago. Coming back up my ears would not equalize and severe pain all the way up. I have seen a few ENT's over the years and they say nothing is wrong but it was the same pain. Anyway ty for your help.
Hi 12 years ago I got out of bed to go to work and immediately collapsed to the ground, I was diagnosed with viral labyrinthitis and I had to attend a balance clinic, I rarely but the odd occasion have to do the epley manoeuvre on myself, it does work. I have acne in my ear canals so I don’t lose the wax in my ears like you normally would as the skin particles mix with the wax, I’m essentially making my own form of concrete and every couple of years have my ears syringed. I treat my acne with 1% steroid cream, recently after having my ears syringed I started getting giddy and light headed, I worked out myself why this was it was the steroid cream because usually when I apply the cream I have wax in my ears but this time there was no wax and the cream had gone further down into my ear canals, I stopped applying the cream and the dizziness disappeared after 24 hours. I thought I would tell you this as it could be another reason why one of your patients get dizziness. Hope this helps someone out there.
I have been dizzy for one week, Vertin 16 taken, i have seen very little improvement only, I'm searching more BPPV related Videos finally i got one perfect exercise video from your channel, Thank you so much❤ Dr.Jon Saunders , really i feel very good. நன்றி நன்றி நன்றி 🙏🙏🙏🙏
This is quite astonishing. I suddenly found myself having spinning sensations getting up and laying down. I followed this video and sure enough everything was true including vomiting. Will continue to self treat and see how it goes.
I think this may have not only helped my vertigo, but a long-standing clog in my ear after weeks of feeling like there was a cotton ball stuck in there. I tried everything to clear it up - blowing my nose while pinching nostrils, saline mists, steam, different "maneuvers" on TH-cam... many different techniques. I did this on my bed and while the clogged feeling and dizziness didn't clear up right away, I felt something "open up" in my clogged ear while at the gym 20 minutes later and it felt 95% better. I'm going to keep doing this helpful technique and will report back with success.
I always fall to my right side. Never to the left. I have been dizzy at times. When I have I notice I go to the right. In the past I have fallen a couple of times down a flight of stairs. The 1st time I hit my head on a heavy wooden post and a few days later I had a concussion. I have had migraine attacks and ocular migraines. I am currently working on pt excercises for frozen shoulder. I ran across your video. I want to try these excercises you suggested. I have a lot going on right now health wise. I just recently started with bouts of severe dizziness. This makes sense to me. I will try it out. Thank you for your help and suggestions. I have kept up with my doctor as well.
Thank you. I'm taking it slow. I start tomorrow. It's been a very busy weekend. I did notice that I was going off to the right when we were working the Rockies game. I told my husband I felt a little lightheaded. I am glad I caught this video. Thank you. I will keep working at it. Thank you for your suggestions. I have already tried sitting straighter. I do remember that one of the therapist had me bring my hand over to the other side of my head and gently pull and hold for a count of 5. Thanks again. I appreciate these videos more than you know. I will be watching and learning better ways to take care of myself. I already mentioned you to my husband. Maybe he will try it to. Thanks again.
I’ve literally never commented on a video before but this was phenomenal. Two weeks ago I went to an amusement park with my young kids and got my brain scrambled on this crazy rides. Afterwards I did a two mile open swim in very cold water and caught a cold. Ever since, I’ve been having vertigo when reading to my kids at night time. I figured it was due to my cold or an ear infection from swimming but it wasn’t going away. I just did a quick search and found this video. I followed the docs guidance and within two times practicing these techniques my vertigo has vanished. Thanks for this!
Thank you. I realize the young person sent to see me in the hospital was clueless and completely mis-performed this maneuver - - and was highly impatient. She snapped my neck so hard and fast it felt like whip lash.
I have suffered from Vertigo in the past... This video was fabulous, clear, concise and well demonstrated. Thank you so much for such a wonderful explanation. Hopefully, my Vertigo does not reappear after viewing this video.😊
Thank you, the hosp did nothing to help me , my first experience, after a CT scan & bloodwork, said vertigo. & discharged me , no advice whatsoever, & suffered 2 days till I came here & one e exercise I feel so much better and safe
Reason why ER doctors don’t mention vertigo is because they don’t care for minor abnormalities these are things u have to diagnose for yourself. They only care for Major abnormalities because that’s what they’re trained to spend their time and resources on. If u want a doctor to treat minor abnormalities you should visit your own surgery doctor.
Wooooah. This bppv menouvre is saving me a lot of money on roller coasters. I've been getting this vertigo when I roll over in bed, go round corners in cars (as a passenger, I don't drive lol) and even walking around a supermarket. Trying to take it with some humour and patience, otherwise anxiety will run rampant. Thank you for this video!
I have been suffering from slight dizziness since quite sometime which I think is what you call vertigo. I have made up my mind to practice your method from tomorrow and let you know the result thanks Doctor.
@@drjonsaundersone day I was sitting in chair and suddenly electricity like something appair in my brain and everything started spinning around what is It??😢
I think this worked! It comes and goes over the years and weird timing. For some reason if I squint real hard when it’s happening, it doesn’t make me as nauseous.
It boggles my mind how many MDs are absolutely clueless about BPPV and what to do about it. My wife is a DC and has had to do this with many people AFTER they had already been in to see MDs putting them through all kinds of tests.
I know right??? They are unfortunately like robots 🤖 only programmed for Meds. I asked a freshly graduated med school doc one time how many semesters on nutrition he got in his 6 years. He said a 1/2 semester. All the rest was studying mostly pharmaceutical drugs. That's insane. Can't wait for our corrupt med system to go down!
Thank you for the video. I woke up the other day and almost fell out of bed with vertigo. I had multiple vertigo experiences over the next couple days. Until i used your stretches. I can't believe this worked. I had to do it twice and have not had vertigo since
I got vertigo 3 days ago, emergency doctor did ctscan for my brain, blood check but they could not find any problems. I can say l have low vitamin d and b12. 5 days ago l left swimming pool and first time l felt unbalanced and now l am having this vertigo so strong even l cannot eat my food 😔 I lost 10 lbs and l cannot even work. I am trying this technique. Hopefully it works
Going through the exact same thing, even was admitted into hospital, could not stop throwing up... ran a ton of tests, was told Vertigo, given Antivert and discharged.. Can't get into even see an ENT for 2 months and long wait for Vertigo therapy.. antivert doesn't help much.. with no other help in sight, I'm going to give this a try. 🙏 It's been pretty horrible, never had it before now.
The doctor must check your ears first what type of vertigo you have maybe you have a syndrome on mernier dissease, watch out. Another case its if you have anxious, panic or fear then you have a vertigo and dizzyness. My doctor consult me some tranquilizers like Xanax because i have a vertigo, i have syndrome of mernier and also i have neck pain. They help me a little, its killing the symptoms from the vertigo but its not final treatment to take drugs. Try to take Vomex, or Antivom for a while to see how its going, those medicines i mentioned its for vertigo but you dont take it for a long time, after your vertigo has been healed up cut the medicines. I hope the best for you
Thank You for Great help!! I finally told my Massage therapist & then my Chiropractor about my head spinning sudden problem. They both suggested I do this exact treatment. I looked at a few videos but stuck with yours because your delivery is good & to the point. I don’t know how often to do this so I’m only doing it once a day. I’m on day #5 and my symptoms are almost gone. It’s been greatly reduced and progress has been fast.😀
I went to the doctor and i said "i vomited last night and felt weak", i was clueless about what happened last night. She prescribed some medicine related to gastritis but after consuming it for 2 3 days I didn't find any improvement, now i get this, I will surely try this. Hope it goes away forever for god shake 🤞
I had this last year after an accident, and have suffered all week again this year. I can't remember what my chiro did last year "exactly" so this video was a BIG help. Thank you.
I am impressed I had vertigo since sometimes last year i did not know what it was I spent 4days in the hospital since then I have been having episodes of it after coming across this video I did the test maneuver it has significantly reduced I feel better I tried activities that mostly triggered it I did not happen thanks a million .
Home health PTA here. I don’t frequently get to work with BPPV patients but have one now and this was a great, succinct refresher and quality video. Thanks for sharing and treating!
I was diagnosed by BPPV, my vertigo is already 1 week. Last night, I didn't sleep whole night, scared of sleeping because of my vertigo. And I hope that this method will help me, I will try this at home.
Excellent video and instructions. I did it and my vertigo is 100% gone. Unbelievable! I was lucky to have been told about Epley maneuver by my doctor yesterday when I had a bout of vertigo for the first time. Today, after these super simple exercise, it is gone! I wish every ailment had such a quick fix 😄
Thank you for making this video. I watched 10 other vides on BPPV Epley Maneuver at home and decided to comment on your video because yours is the best! background info: 15 years ago I had a case of vertigo from swimming. My ear was infected and caused minor pain. The vertigo lasted 1 month, lots of vomitting. Infection subsided and vertigo went away. Perhaps, not completely. 5 years later, mild case of vertigo that lasted a few days. Another 5 years after, (current time), and i get vertigo again. It seems the crystals are slow moving and do not completely get dislodged back into the proper placement. In your video, you move from a 'non vertigo' position to a 'vertigo' position fairly quickly. Over time, my vertigo goes away. I do not feel pain or discomfort in my ear. my symptoms are exactly the same. eg. no dizziness when standing or sitting still. quick head movements causes transient dizziness. execution of Epley maneuver causes temporary dizziness that goes away with each step (head tilt). my questions: 1. can i move my head, quicker than you instruct on the video, when performing this maneuver? 2. is it safe to shake your head while in the vertigo position, possibly helping to move the inner ear crystals? 3. can the infection be caused by sleeping on my side, dirty pillows, sheets? 4. can picking on your ears with your fingers cause inner ear infections.? 5. can using an inversion table cause vertigo? 6. does sleeping with a fan blowing towards your face cause inner ear infections that can lead to vertigo?
Thank you for your kind comment! Answers: 1. No, don't rush through the movements 2. No, its not necessary to shake your head and could cause more problems 3. No, sleeping on your sides with dirty sheets/pillows, unless extremely unsanitary wouldn't typically cause an infection 4. Yes, in some cases, an inversion table may contribute 5. No, a fan should have no effect on causing infections leading to vertigo. Thanks for watching! Take care.
Dr John, Thank You sir !!!! I couldn’t believe I found this video and the symptom description matched mine exactly. I first felt it getting out of bed quickly and I almost fell over. From there the worry began and a lot of sleepless nights and a bit of fear. Low and behold, the test was strongly positive. I did the procedure twice bag firmly in hand and some serious grunting to get through it. No vomit but pretty spinny is an understatement. Worth every bit. Next day I was prepared for more reps….. nothing! Gone ! I attribute mine to some very intense workouts and tons of golfing almost every day for months. I am very grateful and I wish you good Khama sir. I am sooo grateful 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you for this video. I have been treated twice now for BPPV and I feel just plain awful afterwards. I usually shake for half an hour. and I have to sit in the waiting room for quite a while before I can drive myself home. With your video, I hope I can do some training at home. My balance is really off.
I been suffering from virtigo since I was 31 I am now 51 and still get it about 10x per year or more. It goes on for weeks and it's so frustrating. I do notice it happens more often in winter Days and ofcourse being a resident of canada our winters and endless and so is my virtigo. I just performed these exercises and it did give me relief I also take medication for since last year. Thank you so much for sharing this video it may be life changing for me.
Dr Saunders, thank you for the information. My Aunt has been going through this problem for a couple of years and she has seen many doctors, and each and everyone of them told her they had no idea what the problem is, so there is no real diagnosis! What should she do and how does she know what the problem is before she does this exercise !Thank you for your answer.
Thank you so much for this video. I experienced this for the first time this morning when I got out of bed. So weird!! I sat up quickly because I realized i had overslept. I didn’t open my eyes until I was in an upright position. The first thing I saw was the ceiling fan spinning. But my eyes followed the blades uncontrollably. All this in a matter of seconds. I stood up and quickly sat back down, feeling nauseous. I closed my eyes to make it stop but when I opened them back up they were still in motion. Not knowing what was happening I stood up, walked towards the bathroom and nearly fell over. I held on to the walls until I sat down on the toilet. Still spinning, but I put my head down, closed my eyes, and it eventually stopped. All in all about a couple of minutes. I do have an inner ear issue, also neck issues as well as ankylosing spondylitis. But, this has never happened to me before. Can it be a one time thing? I will mention it to my doctors. I don’t want to go through that ever again!!!
Thank you for these videos. You mentioned to do the Eply maneuver a few times if needed, are you saying to try this a few times in 1 day? Or you recommend one tries it once or twice on one day...and if that doesn't help try again another day? Or is it safe to try to do this multiple times in a day? Thanks
I can almost always draw a line from the onset of BPPV symptoms to a period of dehydration or higher salt intake. Posterior canal is the usual culprit, so Epley maneuver usually fixes it, but I have to take Bonine (meclizine HCl 10 mg) or similar about 40 mins before doing them to avoid barfing.
Please help! I just got diagnosed with BPPV. My dizzyness started 5 days ago where I was bed ridden for entire day bc the spins wouldn’t stop, I was so scared and thought I had heat exhaustion. Now I am getting the spells in bed rolling over so sleeping is a nightmare and my quality of life is suffering. I tried the method and know without a doubt it’s my left side as when I went down I got spins very bad and my husband said my eye balls were going manic while I was dizzy which subsides in about 30 seconds. We did it a couple times and each time I got up I needed his help bc when I’d sit up my dizziness would hit hard and if he wasn’t helping me I’d fall over after sitting up. Is that normal????
Hi Dr Jon, thanks so much for these, but I have not diagnosed the cause yet! Having done this test and the neck tests it does not bring on the dizziness. I have had this for years. Sometimes I feel its brought on by exercises, which I stopped (push-ups or cobra position in Yoga) But other times I am sure its the crystals. eg. when I feel my inner ear is blocked up I learnt a technique from a US doctor that you hold your nose and blow, and it clears (like glue ear) or the pressure like when on an airplane. Today I tried this and it gave me Vertigo/dizziness immediately, which sounds like crystals problem? One week ago I turned over too quick in the night in bed and brought it on. I don't have any cold/flu but am recovering from Long Covid - maybe part of the "inflammatory response" caused by Covid? I take Ibuprofen when I have an episode and it definitely helps. Should I see a Chiropractor or Physical Therapist or which profession? many thanks in advance from UK.
@@drjonsaunders What does it sound like to you? I mean the cause(s). Have you seen similar symptoms? Also what do you think about the inner ear technique and what that shows? And which type of professional would you recommend in this case? Thanks again
I had an episode 2 days ago, and although I haven’t had any extreme dizzy spells since, I have felt off. It’s like I am light headed, and overall a bit woozy at all times, but not necessarily spinning. Would this help? Or do I just need to wait out the residual dizziness? Thank you.
I got so scared when I had a very long - hours - episode. Thank goodness I already had an appointment with my PT that afternoon. I kept closing my eyes which doesn’t help at all. My husband drove me and my PT came out to the car to help me walk in. When she did the steps shown in the video she took it one step further. Instead of laying on one side she had me lay on the other side after sitting up for 2 minutes. When he shelled me lay down on my right side the room was spinning so fast I thought it was spinning me right to heaven! She held onto me as I laid on my right side and applied deep pressure, which is one way to help improve the success of fixing my vertigo. I’ll be honest, I totally panicked and my eyes were going side to side in very rapid fashion. I started breathing fast but it eventually stopped. I was nauseous, apologetic for freaking out, and just started crying from both fear and relief! I was pretty much done for about 24 hours but the dizziness lessened. By around 29 hours later I was completely better. So when said you felt like you’re dying I TOTALLY understand! ❤️🙏
Out of the blue, I was turning over in bed to my right side and when my head hit the pillow, WHAM, I never felt so dizzy in my life. This was last week and I am still struggling sometimes getting dizzy when I look down or bend down, too, and upon trying to sit up from bed. It's scary. Would this help? I do have a small amount of recent pain way deep in my right ear, if that matters, and I had put hydrogen peroxide in my ears like a night or two prior to the intense dizziness when I flipped over to my right side.
Yes I think it definitely will, I know this is weeks after and you probably already have the answer but for any other people try it. Same exact thing happened to me 2 years ago, rolled over and I felt horrible, horrible vertigo, my first time ever. I started the maneuver, chickened out 2 times lol tried again, by 4th time I did it all the way and it actually worked and I was so relieved I could've cried.
Hi. I wish you were here in New Jersey. You have a very calming voice. So, at the age of 29 (I am now 64) I was diagnosed with BPPV. I had a major vertigo attack. At the time I was pregnant and there was nothing that really could be done. As soon as I delivered the baby, the vertigo stopped. Then, one year later, it came back and since then I am fine for a couple of years, then I get an attack - but lately, the attacks are different . The first time, there was spinning, dry heaves, had to crawl to the bathroom. Now, I start getting this 'strange' feeling which then causes anxiety. I immediately have to go to the bathroom, and then I break out in a sweat and feel very week. One time I passed out. They last about 2-1/2 hours and then I am ok. The past few weeks, tho, I have had about 4 "mini' attacks and I am so anxious and fearful that it will continue. I went to my ENT who did the Dix Hallpike maneuver and said because i did not have nystagmus, that he couldn't do the Epley maneuver because it wouldn't help. I am at a loss. Help!!!! Susan
Sorry to hear all this...it seems the ENT has ruled out your inner ear...please go back and see your doctor for further testing to rule out other potential causes...all the best!
really i found your explanation of the maneovre exellent and i will do it, two days ago anotolaryngologist did the maneouvre for me but i suffered vigorous vomiting in spite of some improvement
I had this a few time in the past that’s for posting this am just waiting on help to do it right now because my one side not work from stroke but ty for your time in posting this ❤
This is a good exercise to remember doing it when I went to physical therapy thank God. Remember personalized help the one said he's doing otherwise that you have physical therapy great job
Hi all, I got Vertigo after a 24hour vomiting Bug a while back. Then when I turn in my sleep the room would spin and the nausea would start. What a horrible F'in sensation. Light headed and nauseous going about my day too. I have started this exercise & I'm finding it very helpful. Going to keep at it until Vertigo hopefully disappears. To anyone suffering with this defo try these techniques rather than popping pills. Greetings from Wicklow, Ireland.
My 12 year old daughter have been complaining about dizziness for 9 months and all the tests the doctor done on her was normal so she was recently referred to an Ent doctor and she said she have Bppv ,I pray she'll overcome this and live a normal life ,she got a hard hit in her head twice so I feel that the cause of it
I found out one of the reasons for my vertigo was because my jaw was out of alignment. When opening mouth and hearing a clicking noise and putting fingers at base of jaw feeling that jaw bone out of alignment is the sign. In talking with jaw PT specialist, she taught me how to get the jaw back in alignment. Also, ENT said to stop yawning big and instead train myself to yawn with mouth barely opened. After dentist visits I always have to put my jaw back in alignment and somehow this whole jaw out of alignment contributes to the ear problem that contributes to vertigo. Also, ENT told me to actually put myself into vertigo daily and then don't fight it; just let it work itself out. It was a matter of training the brain. After about a month of this my vertigo became less and less. I get vertigo a couple of times a year now and when I do I always check to see if my jaw is out of alignment and if so, I do the quick exercise to help get it back in alignment then I don't fight the vertigo. When I do have vertigo now, I only have it for seconds vs days or a month as before. Interestingly, in my ortho surgeon office, when I told the radiologist as I was laying down now to help me but let me do it so I didn't get vertigo, he shared his experience with me. He had vertigo for years and then also did same thing...put himself in vertigo everyday and unfortunately a side effect can be throwing up, but then don't fight it. He was also told this trained the brain and his vertigo is also virtually gone. But, he said his took longer to get rid of than mine. I did this maneuver but it didn't solve my problem but will for some. Just sharing my experience.
Your video is clear and easy to understand. My vertigo when I do according to your test is on the right. My question is by being patient, do I really have to continue doing it because when my head is 45 degrees on the right at lying position, when the spinning dizziness starts it seems intolerable so I turn to left to and dizzines is relieved. If I try endure the dizzines until I vomit, are you sure dizziness will dissipate? Or maybe worsens and why?
Thank you very much. I had a sudden onset of vertigo. Did not even know how i got it. It was getting worse and starting to scare me. I came across this video and on my second try it was gone. I'm very grateful to you.
My dad had vertigo again yesterday morning we went into emergency care and the doctor adviced some injections and to visit an ent if it didnt go away. It didnt go away and i can tell my dad is scared. Unfortunately the ent wasnt available today . Hopefully we could go tmrw. And thanks doc for this info
@@drjonsaunders doc we went to the doc today he didn't say much but he prescribed this medicine for 2 weeks and said he will teach us this exercise after that.. So now by evng dad said his vertigo is getting worse and his whole body is feelin sick sometimes. Now we r wondering if it's in fact vertigo or something else.. What do suggest?? Should we visit another doctor
So I just had vertical yesterday and went to my doctor's and my doctor told me that go to watch this on TH-cam and then again thank you for your time if I would have known about this sooner I would have gotten it done quicker
Thank you, Dr Jon I tried the Epley manoeuvre after having Vertigo for over a week I have done it quite a few times now and at last I woke this morning without any dizziness I would like to know after the dizziness has gone should I keep doing the manoeuvre or stop it thank for an amazing video
I have a bubbling on my right ear, When I lied to my left side, did this maneuver help you permanently? I’ve done a few days now and every time I lay down I still spin, so I don’t understand how it’s supposed to fix it. days after doing the maneuver for it to fix it?
Do you have a question about dizziness or vertigo? Ask here! :)
only do it left side ?
i mean how to check we hav vertigo on left or right side?
@@fazrenyidrus708 Do the Dix-Hallpike Test...at 4:23 of the video...which ever side make the dizziness worse, do the Epley on that side. Good luck!
Yes. Just watched the video are we supposed to do the left side only?
It’s amazing, last time I had a vertigo it was 16 years ago, this morning I woke up, I was crying because you feel lost, I started to search on internet and Doctor I found you, I did the exercises, for me it was very violent because I threw up, I took a nap, but it really works, I turned my head left and right, dizziness were gone, doctor you have no idea what you give for me and for everyone who suffers, thank you so much, merci infiniment,
My pleasure!
Omg same thing happened to me a few days ago it sucks it didn’t stop for 6 days
Is there any medication of BPPV?

Thank you so much, this was absolutely terrifying until I learned what it was . It's hard to tell someone who has never felt the violent spinning what it feels like. Thank God there is a fix for this.
This is truly a miracle. Had a concussion and vertigo for almost 2 months. Did this procedure only one time and completely cured. Thanks doc.
Wonderful, glad it was helpful to you!
Da li se procedura ponavlja na obje strane, ako su otoliti i lijevo i desno?
Ty for reminding ppl not to give up if it no work after the first time. This is important and so generous of you bc ppl Lose hope if it no work after first time. So so so great you advise us to try a number of rounds. You are an angel.☮️☮️
Thank you! :)
Thank you for posting this video. After 4 weeks of having vertigo I was cured after 1-2 times of doing this last night. It made me feel unsteady on my feet afterward, had a headache and felt nauseous but I have woken up and the vertigo, headache and nauseous has gone! So happy
Glad it helped!
Thanks for sharing and happy you are feeling better! :)
How much time in between doing this if virtego didn’t resolve?
Thank you, this procedure is very well demonstrated and easy to follow along. I have recurring bppv and could never figure exactly how to perform the manoeuvre until now. I'm happy to report that I'm now vertigo-free and no longer need to schedule an appointment with my doctor. Thank you again, your work is very much appreciated.
Great to hear!
Thank you Sir! I tried this about 4 times in a row. Yes, I vomitted twice but was prepared in advance. It's been 3 hrs since and I almost have zero symptoms now. I can't than you enough for making this video. Bravo. Outstanding.
Fantastic!

Amazing...thanks for sharing and watching! All the best! :)

Did u do it first left and then right ear
Or all 7 tyms on left and then 3 tym on right??
Oh my goodness this really works. 🙏🙏🙏 thank you so much for sharing this video. I woke this morning with severe dizziness and vomiting but after 6 attempts with this manoeuvre I’m completely fine.
I’m 69 yrs old and had this about 15 years ago when it took almost 2 weeks to recover naturally. My doctor only prescribed anti nausea medication. I’m currently in travelling alone around Australia in my Motorhome so you can imagine what a problem this could have been for me. 🙏😍
Wonderful!
@dianawallis1098 how are u now??
Saunders.

Great!
I have vertigo 2 years. Pills do nothing. Thank you Very much!!! I am grateful 🙏
You are so welcome.
Thanks for sharing!

Hi Doc
I have vertigo for five years
My brother coming suicide I taught it was shock
My kids did not understand they think I wanted attention
I had a mri which confirm 5 types of vertigo
I haven't done excesice yet just got results 3 weeks ago
Looking forward to doing it
Thank you doctor
Worked like a charm for my vertigo. Much better after just one time. Completely gone after doing it once a day for five days. Thank you.
Great to hear!
Glad it was helpful! - Take care!

Glad it helped and you are feeling better...take care!
Wow, You are the best!! I did it three times, my dizziness on my left side was gone!! Thanks sooooo much!!
FANTASTIC! :)
Thanks for watching and sharing....all the best!

This is quite astonishing. I suddenly found myself having spinning sensations getting up and laying down. I followed this video and sure enough everything was true including vomiting. Will continue to self treat and see how it goes.
Best of luck!
Will this help ringing in the ears?
I think this may have not only helped my vertigo, but a long-standing clog in my ear after weeks of feeling like there was a cotton ball stuck in there. I tried everything to clear it up - blowing my nose while pinching nostrils, saline mists, steam, different "maneuvers" on TH-cam... many different techniques.
I did this on my bed and while the clogged feeling and dizziness didn't clear up right away, I felt something "open up" in my clogged ear while at the gym 20 minutes later and it felt 95% better. I'm going to keep doing this helpful technique and will report back with success.
Wonderful, thanks for sharing!

Thanks for sharing! Glad you are feeling better.
I had a similar experience in the ER recently but the doctor never mentioned vertigo. 😏
It’s ruining my life
Reason why ER doctors don’t mention vertigo is because they don’t care for minor abnormalities these are things u have to diagnose for yourself. They only care for Major abnormalities because that’s what they’re trained to spend their time and resources on. If u want a doctor to treat minor abnormalities you should visit your own surgery doctor.
Wooooah. This bppv menouvre is saving me a lot of money on roller coasters. It boggles my mind how many MDs are absolutely clueless about BPPV and what to do about it. My wife is a DC and has had to do this with many people AFTER they had already been in to see MDs putting them through all kinds of tests.

I hope the best for you

the epley maneuver is not for dizziness , its for vertigo caused by BPPV. You might want to do vestibular therapy (eye exercises) for dizziness.

I wish every ailment had such a quick fix 😄
Great job!
I do not feel pain or discomfort in my ear. my symptoms are exactly the same. eg. no dizziness when standing or sitting still. quick head movements causes transient dizziness. execution of Epley maneuver causes temporary dizziness that goes away with each step (head tilt).
my questions:
1. can i move my head, quicker than you instruct on the video, when performing this maneuver?
2. is it safe to shake your head while in the vertigo position, possibly helping to move the inner ear crystals?
3. can the infection be caused by sleeping on my side, dirty pillows, sheets?
4. can picking on your ears with your fingers cause inner ear infections.?
5. can using an inversion table cause vertigo?
6. does sleeping with a fan blowing towards your face cause inner ear infections that can lead to vertigo?
Thank you for your kind comment!
Answers:
1. No, don't rush through the movements
2. No, its not necessary to shake your head and could cause more problems
3. No, sleeping on your sides with dirty sheets/pillows, unless extremely unsanitary wouldn't typically cause an infection
4. Yes, in some cases, an inversion table may contribute

Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for this video. I have been treated twice now for BPPV and I feel just plain awful afterwards. I usually shake for half an hour. and I have to sit in the waiting room for quite a while before I can drive myself home. With your video, I hope I can do some training at home. My balance is really off.
You got this!
Can u do this without spinning, like dizziness?
I been suffering from virtigo since I was 31 I am now 51 and still get it about 10x per year or more. It goes on for weeks and it's so frustrating. I do notice it happens more often in winter Days and ofcourse being a resident of canada our winters and endless and so is my virtigo. I just performed these exercises and it did give me relief I also take medication for since last year. Thank you so much for sharing this video it may be life changing for me.
My pleasure, check out some of my other videos as they may be helpful as well. Take care.
Hi Maria, can you please tell me what medication you take for your vertigo? Thanks, Kitty
My pleasure!
Thanks for watching...I hope you find my videos helpful.
Thank you for these videos.
You mentioned to do the Eply maneuver a few times if needed, are you saying to try this a few times in 1 day? Or you recommend one tries it once or twice on one day...and if that doesn't help try again another day? Or is it safe to try to do this multiple times in a day?
Thanks
Yes you can do it a couple of times each day. All the best.
I'm so happy I found this, will try as soon as my wife gets home. I thought I was having a stroke.
I hope you feel better soon, please see your doctor for an appropriate diagnosis.
Thanks a lot Doctor . The video was awesome !
Most welcome!
Thanks for sharing. :)
Yes my doctor told me to take some meclizine before exercise if hardcore spinning occurs….will try the pill prior. Thanks
You are a wonderful human being. You are sincere and empathetic. Ty for being you and doing what u do.
:)
Sometimes it can take multiple attempts over a few days...I hope you feel better soon.
I have top shelf vertigo for about a year now,, I’m about to try this as many times as I should .. fingers crossed 🤞
If it doesn't help, please see your health care provider. All the best.
Sorry to hear this, yes see a professional that is experienced in treating vertigo and dizziness.
@@drjonsaunders What does it sound like to you? I mean the cause(s). Have you seen similar symptoms? Also what do you think about the inner ear technique and what that shows? And which type of professional would you recommend in this case? Thanks again
Actually ibuprofen can cause vertigo and ringing in the ears be careful with it
Most thankful Dr. Jon. You have been so helpful. God bless you!
Thank you! :)
I had an episode 2 days ago, and although I haven’t had any extreme dizzy spells since, I have felt off. It’s like I am light headed, and overall a bit woozy at all times, but not necessarily spinning. Would this help? Or do I just need to wait out the residual dizziness? Thank you.
It could help, but even after you have completed the maneuver you may feel off for a few days...all the best!
Thank you! I’m really looking forward to trying this out 😊
Hope you like it!
BPPV started suddenly, First time in my life I felt this much dizziness back to back, Every time it sets in I feel like I am dying 😭
Sorry to hear that. :(
Don't be sad ,man .
How are you now
You're amazing, Dr. Jon. Thanks so much. 😊
My pleasure!
How are you now?
Speak to your doctor...it could be a number of things..
One being BPPV.
Exactly how mines started. Will be seeing my MD this week
Currently I've vertigo.. Thank you Dr I'll definitely try
Best wishes!
really i found your explanation of the maneovre exellent and i will do it, two days ago anotolaryngologist did the maneouvre for me but i suffered vigorous vomiting in spite of some improvement

:)
Very good explanation thanks Dr I’m suffering with this problem
Glad you found it helpful.
Great information. I would like to know how often should a client or a person needs to do this, like 1 or 2 per day.
3-4 times per day until it resolves.
@drjonsaunders Thank you, that is awesome, and I will have my wife and clients do it with your recommendations.
Excellent explanation. Well demonstrated. thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you…. It worked the first time!
Thanks for sharing!
My 12 year old daughter have been complaining about dizziness for 9 months and all the tests the doctor done on her was normal so she was recently referred to an Ent doctor and she said she have Bppv ,I pray she'll overcome this and live a normal life ,she got a hard hit in her head twice so I feel that the cause of it
It could be from a concussion if she eas hit in the head. I hope you find my videos and channel helpful. Take care.
Good share. :)
Thank you thank you thank you, this helped me with in a few times of doing it!
Great to hear!
Typically you have to endure the vertigo when doing the maneuver in each position. Best wishes.
Thank you, you’re a great doctor
Wow, thank you!
Thank You for this information!
My pleasure!
Thank you very much. I had a sudden onset of vertigo. Did not even know how i got it. It was getting worse and starting to scare me. I came across this video and on my second try it was gone. I'm very grateful to you.
Glad to hear it!
I hope my video helps!
Glad to help!
Thank you, Dr Jon I tried the Epley manoeuvre after having Vertigo for over a week I have done it quite a few times now and at last I woke this morning without any dizziness I would like to know after the dizziness has gone should I keep doing the manoeuvre or stop it thank for an amazing video
Once your vertigo is gone, there is no need to continue doing the maneuver....take good care!
Thank you Doctor. I didnt hear about the bag before but it is helpful.
My pleasure. :)
Why do I hear like bubble sounds in my ear. Healing? I did this exercise and it helped. I will continue. Thank you!
Glad you found it helpful!
I have a bubbling on my right ear, When I lied to my left side, did this maneuver help you permanently? I’ve done a few days now and every time I lay down I still spin, so I don’t understand how it’s supposed to fix it. days after doing the maneuver for it to fix it?
The Epley Maneuver is the most effective treatment for BPPV. Thanks for preparing such a concise and helpful video!!!
I'm so glad you found it helpful. :)
