Your exercises for dizziness I saw in another video worked out right away for me. The other people’s videos only show maneuvers to move salts, but that is not my problem. Dizziness is a Horrible felling and I thank you for help me so fast.
So reduce or avoid: 1. Salt (because it retains fluids) 2. Caffeine 3. High sugar foods 4. Diary *due to milk protein avoid old cheese but also fermented food in general 5. Gluten what about consuming water with electrolites? Now I wanna share my story because I thin it might help others too: I had losing my balance for almost 20 years and it happened every single day and even lying in bed felt dizzy or sitting on a chair dizzy and losing balance and I had also vertigo episodes and docs didn `t know what I have (they said maybe its neuro vegetative but u don t have meniere or other things), until I got to endocrinology and there asked for blood tests so this way I found out my D3 (OH-D) levels were way under normal range and guess what: since I have started after 2-5 months started to feel much better (my dizziness, losing balance and vertigo episodes were accentuated by my low level of ferritin, but still with Ferritin level low I am so much better now and very rare, once at few years I might have vertigo episode (when I am super tired and also breath cold air), losing balance still have it but very rarely, only when I am tired and dizziness the same when I am tired and breathing cold air, so in the winter have to avoid cold, so I put many layers and protect my nose from cold air; but I am much, much, much better and I am supplementing witth D3 every single day 2000 UI or 5000 UI 2 days apart- I have to mention that I also do not expose myself to the sun at all so my vit D3 is still at the minimum level but in normal range).
Thanks for sharing. You know, there's so much confusion about Vit D... First of all, it's not a "vitamin" per se; it's a hormone. Second of all, I've read that its levels are actually symptoms of conditions/diseases and taking it as a supplement just may mask them. I've been researching it on & off for decades because of a chronic autoimmune disease. When I was living in the US, the tests were showing Vit D deficiency, so I used to take it for a long time (without K2...). That was years ago, so I don't remember details, but it was allegedly the best/liquid form. I don't recall why I stopped doing it... Something must've scared me. Also allegedly, just about everybody is Vit D deficient. The lab ranges, moving the goal posts for financial and/or nefarious reasons, change all the time and vary widely! The issue is very controversial among scientists as well. Most say the threshold is 20, some go as low as 12, others recommend at least 30. Yet, others, like Dr. Saunders here, think 50 is about optimal. I used to live in Arizona. You'd think I shouldn't have had any Vit D issues, but I was deficient. That may have been caused by my disease and medication, though. Before you get into trouble, you don't go around getting tests for fun, so who knows what it was in the past. Granted, even though I lived in sunny AZ, I also used to spend 5 days a week in an office cubicle, under conditions worse than in prison and one of the weekend days was usually dedicated to chores indoors. I've been living in Southeastern Europe for the past 4+ years; obviously, not as sunny as Arizona all the time, but not too bad, and I spend a lot more time outdoors. I haven't compared to my old US labs, but my Vit D recently was 22.4, which was well within range. The range left me flabbergasted, though! It was 6.60 - 49.90! On the one hand, it looks odd, ridiculous and irresponsible; on the other hand, Vit D seems to be shrouded in mystery and overloading may not be the best idea... Generally, overdoing anything is not a good idea. I took a look at Reddit/Supplements recently and the amount of junk these people take, without much or ANY knowledge, is astonishing and frightening!
I’m on #3 of this video and already have learned so much about what might be causing all of my problems. Dr. Jon Saunders you are so informative to this issue. Thank You so very much. What I learned after watching this whole video now is I need change. I need it fast. Thank you again for this powerful informative! 🙏🏻
I just had the worst vertigo I've had in years! Your video made me realize it may have been because I went to a Chinese all you can eat buffet the day before! Duh! Why didn't I figure that out myself 😕
Totally eliminating all caffeine has made a significant difference in keeping at bay my previous incidents of vertigo. Yes, salt and sugar and dairy are also factors not to eliminate, but to really, really keep to a minimum. But I disagree with gluten. Sure, some people have an adverse reaction like they do with nuts, especially peanuts. However, I mill my own flour and bake my own whole wheat bread keeping white flour to a minimum. Vegetables are key along with some fish and chicken. But bread in moderation (a lot of calories!) and chickpeas that I also soak and cook (never canned). Whole, unprocessed food and lots of water AND eating small quantities. Eat to live, not live to eat.
I don't believe gluten itself is the problem, either. Had that been the case, it would've been a problem for centuries, but it wasn't... The problem is the industrial bread and baked products and all the poison in them. Once, I was on a diet quest, trying to eliminate foods, hoping to somehow get off an awful med. Since I'm not about to bake bread, I was sourcing bread from France, via San Diego, to Arizona... Yeah, it was ridiculous, but in addition to the potential health benefits, I also like good bread. At this stage of the game, mine and the world's, I don't particularly care about anything other than not ending up in a situation in between being in control of yourself and your fate and expiring on the spot...
Especially processed salt, which is stripped of minerals. This creates a systemic imbalance... likely why people get salt cravings, but fail the craving with junk processed salt. Sea Salt / Hym salt has a much larger content of minerals. It's funny how your list by now should be elementary knowledge, but Marketing still fools people. Great list, and adding more details why.
I see now I can't eat certain things anymore...I would rather do without them to prevent the dizziness from my neck issues. Thank you doc for this information!!
I totally eliminated gluten and all grains in general. Didn’t help. I gave up caffeine for a long time because I don’t sleep well but lately I’ve been having some and it doesn’t seem to increase the lightheadedness. I switched to an almost carnivore diet and that seemed to help a lot but it’s boring and my stomach didn’t like it. I’ve been modifying it to try to be able to see what I have to avoid to make it help and continue on it. I also never go out in the sun without dark glasses and a visor because I recently realized that often I’m fine in the house but as soon as I step outside in the sun my balance is all off. I haven’t been able to give up dairy products yet because I’m addicted and they’re a large part of my diet. 😢 I also happen to have a meningioma that hasn’t grown since it was discovered 3 years ago, but I’m wondering if that could be causing an issue.
My balance problem is from surviving a hemorrhagic stroke. I don't consume any processed foods, so the only sugar I eat is fruit, high blood pressure, I already consume less than 2000mg. And, I don't consume dairy, except for butter, and no wheat of any kind.
I've been struggling with dizziness/lightheadedness and balance issues for just over a year now and still don't know what's going on. I was diagnosed with IBS a few months ago but that's all so far. Cutting out gluten and wheat has helped my stomach pains and getting lactose free dairy seems to not leave me feeling sickly like regular lactose dairy. Is it advised I ditch even lactose free dairy? After about 7/8 years vegetarian I reintroduced fish because my vitamin D came back as being low and I also recently started eating meat again but I make sure it's organic and grass fed. I noticed that being mostly paleo (with the exception of rice and lactose free dairy) has put a stop to my low blood sugar issues as I'm eating the right kinds of carbs now to better regulate my blood sugar. It's just so hard to cut out dairy given how much of a staple food it is and how useful it is especially when I'm not someone who has the patience required to cook from scratch.
@drjonsaunders Thanks. Would you say lactose free cheese is as bad as regular lactose cheese too? I'll have to try and find out what alternatives I can use
Hello Dr. JON SAUNDERS😊😊 Does vertigo can cause heavy head and inbalanced when wallking,i feel dizzy too😪it's more than 4 yrs. I experienced it and i don't know why..thanks dr Jon😇❤🙏God Bless everyone..
Same here I have imbalance, dizziness and light headache issue since 2020. I went to chiropractor for 3 months it didn't help and then I went physical therapy for 6 months still don't help. All my blood work, ENT, Thyroid, MRI, Cardiologist is normal except my Plalete is low, now radiology will going to ultrasound my obdominal on the 14 August.
Here is a good start to see if any of these may be causing it: th-cam.com/video/oW1rlhiVS50/w-d-xo.html. Also, check out some of my other videos on dizziness and then have a conversation with your healthcare provider. Best wishes.

I have Celiac (No wheat (which is in almost everything), Osteoarthritis all over, so far two bouts of Vertigo, Diverticulitis and various allergies!! I eat Gluten Free (that is, the few things available in Canada), mostly chicken, expensive fruits and vegetables (no tomatoes or acidic and have reduced to 1 cup of coffee per morning. Eat some dark chocolate and love my old cheddar cheese. My diet is so limited now that if I cut out anything more, my life quality is sorely reduced. I can only hope you are wrong like the doctors that once said Eggs are bad for us???
Only issue I strongly disagree with you on are coffee and tea. There are so many positives of green tea and black coffee taken in moderation I won't eliminate.
I 💯% agree with you, however the point I was trying to make is to analyze your overall caffeine intake per day and try to reduce it...was just giving some examples of where one might do that. But yes, I enjoy my coffee as well. :)

So now i can't eat or drink anything anymore.
Just look at in terms of 'reducing' not 'eliminating' - even a reduction can have a dramatic impact. Best wishes.

Most yes, but they are really problematic with those with dizziness and Vertigo. Best wishes.
