Hello, I recently have experienced vertigo and I am not a fan. It is the worst feeling I have ever felt. My question is when is comes to the epley maneuvers, what if you get vertigo on both right and left side? Which side do I start first?
Chronic allergic dizziness due to hayfever and tmjd sinus pressure dizziness, and cervical vertigo here. So a lot! It's aweful. The brainfog is real. Also exhaustion where sleeping enough does not help. I hope this helps me! Going to try right away cause I'm not having a good day!
I have learned a few of these sleep positions through sad experience. This is a keeper video. Thanks for your frequent and helpful attention to vertigo a nd dizziness. I alternate; BPPV, cervical. Over decades, but less frequent in recent months. BPPV is a spin and it doesn't always disappear quickly with Epley. Sometimes days. Spinocervical is lightheadedness, inability to gain vision focus, nausea, and generally harder to get on top of.
I've had a history of BPPV, and the Epley maneuver has worked well, except for my current bout. If I sleep on my back or left side, I can get up without being dizzy, if I sleep on the right, it takes about 30 seconds to stop spinning when I get up. Gonna try another round of the Epley...really hope that helps. Thanks for your attention on this subject. It's one of the worst conditions to have. On par with migraines, and probably worse, except in my case, not as frequent.
Is this the way you gave to sleep the rest of your life Both sides at one time made me spin when I layed done .So do I i have to lay on my back forever.
I been dealing with this for a year I have to learn how to do the manvers .But will.inever het better and amount thing is my balance in is way of my and my hearing also. Is s to this my from the vertigo. And is s to this is e VC er no going to to me heal where I'm the crystals come in our
THANK YOU! I was at my witts end with the dizziness. The Epley maneuver worked instantly. Literally like magic, 11 days of dizziness and vomiting GONE. 🥳 I at applesauce and feel alive. THANK YOU. THANK YOU🤗
It can be if you have a loss of cervical lordosis (neck curve); with cervicogenic dizziness the symptoms may get worse with treatment before they improve. Best wishes.
Hi I'm on my third and most severe day of vertigo. Today it lasted from when i woke to 9pm. I tried epley for the first time, made me physically sick. This is the fourth time I've had a series of vertigo. It's crippling. How can i prevent it? Thank goodness i have a spouse to help as i have a young family.
I discovered that I can count on a 4-day vertigo event following a visit to the dentist (that incline position in the dental chair) or the hair salon (again, head position in the basin). Not much remedy other than patiently waiting for it to end. Which is always does.
Hello DR Jon, i really say thanks to you for the amazing video, can you please make video to fight against anxiety or depression, whenever i am getting shocking news or sometime i fell shortness of breathness, when i did check with pulmonologiest he said you have some anxiety and he prescribed anti depression medicine, i dont want to addict on medicine, please share some excerise to come over this problem
I've been dealing with vertigo at bed time for nearly 3 years. I feel like it's related to my ears. The sides I can sleep on change and for the last 3 weeks nothing is working. On top of the spinning and dizziness, I constantly get jerks that makes me feel I'm falling into a void and gonna die. It's absolutely awful and I wouldn't wish is on anyone. My life has become a blur at this point. I'm waiting to see ENT to see if they can find anything. Don't know how much longer I can cope
For those with vertigo or dizziness, proper sleep positioning is crucial. When sleeping on your back, use pillows to elevate your head slightly. For side sleeping, place a pillow between your knees to maintain spinal alignment. If you have BPPV, sleep with the affected ear up. Move slowly when changing positions to minimize symptoms.
What about metal rods inside my neck spine? Im starting to have vertigo more frequently and ringing inside my head even i’m born deaf. I’m suspecting my nerves might start pinching after many years after victim of a car accident. I already talked with vertigo therapy, she told me it’s could be from crystal inside my ear OR nerve being pinching-. I’m going have an appointment with neurosurgeon doctor this week.
Hlw jon I want to ask you a question. I am suffering from cervical spondylitis and I have done my x-ray. And it shows straightning of cervical lordosis. Whenever I move my head side to side and tilt it makes some type of grinding and crunching noises. So my question is that if we have loss of neck cervical curvature does it creates this type of Creepy noises ? And I am doing some exercises to make my Cervical curve back again . And if my curve backs in its own alignment will this noises be stop ?? And how much time it takes to get the curve back ??
@@drjonsaunders yes I have watched that video. But I want to know one more thing. I am doing exercises to get my curve back again. So I want to know if my curve gets back again will those sounds be gone ? And how much time it can take to restore again?? What is your thought ? Just wanted to get an idea about time?
Hi Dr. Saunders, I am a new subscriber in the Chanel. I have a Q ? With the wedge, do I need the roller to support the neck? I suffer from BPPV. I am waiting for an appointment. Thank you! You are a blessing.
Heloo doc . i am from Assam. My father got virtego problm from last 1week cant sleep straight..sometim he feels better what to do MRI ECG rapid profile ..or eye track exerciee.
Sorry to hear, please have him watch all my videos on dizziness and vertigo and then have him see his doctor for an appropriate diagnosis. Best wishes.
Hello Doc. It's my first time watching this video. I have been battling with this dizziness for almost 9 months. My right ear is the one affected. It's like water or an object moving inside it and it irritates. What can i do ??
I’ve had dizziness for 2.5 months. Started immediately after TBI. Doing neck exercises and vestibular therapy. Do you have a prognosis on how long this usually takes to heal. Some days I don’t know if it’s getting better.
Dr. Jon, I have been diagnosed with BPPV done the semont maneuver the strong vertigo is gone but I feel dizzy and uncomfortable when I lay supine and I am starting to freak out as I have slept on non affected side for more than 3 weeks, but I would love to sleep supine, any suggestions? Thanks 😊
Thank you so much for a very informative video, Doctor! I have very tense neck and shoulders+ lower back, but when I went to a physiotherapist, the only thing that showed on the X-ray, was bad body posture. Yet, for the longest time, I feel a bit floaty when I walk or sit or bend my head backwards, and a couple of days ago, I suddenly got a bout of vertigo in the morning. Now I am still 'floaty' and I literally feel a spot in my lower back that makes me feel that I am 'moving'. Would the lower back be also connected to cervical issues? Thanks A LOT!
Within 24 days I have positional vertigo, I am taking treatment but it does not go away, I am disappointed. is it normal for it to last so many days?? I'm really tired, 24 days I sleep only on one side, because if I turn on the other side, I get dizzy, when I bend down, when I raise my head... it's so hard
Sorry, been there done that. I dread dentist appointments because I can't tolerate having my head back too far. I have been good lately, but with occasional BPPV, I have found I may need 2 or 3 DAYS doing the Epley to feel secure away from the wall,or outside,or especially driving. Vertigo and lightheadedness are serious.
Hi! Im not sure what i have ... its been 3 time in like 4 months that I wake up at midnight feeling dizzy only when l'ingresso down and i try to lay straight but I still feel dizzy (and closing my eyes makes it worse ) and then I wake up in the morning and everything is fine...
Is it okay to use a wedge pillow if you sleep on your side? I'm not sure which side my veritgo is on but I've got left shoulder issues, so I'm unable to sleep on that side. Plus is it ok to you a flat pillow when sleeping on a wedge pillow, whether you sleep on your side or back.
I sleep on my left side and i use a CPAP machine. My neck is stiff and causing dizziness and I am afraid I am going to fall and I could use your help thank you
my first bout of veritgo was while i was sleeping was awakened with the bed spinning then tried to get out of bed to stand up. this is awful verttigo worse on left side. remember having headaches for 3 weeks lower right side before my first bout of vertigo. do you recommend ear candling and who does diagnosis of vertigo chiropractors or physicians? the other day I was experiencing seeing halos in left eye
From last two week i was having vertigo and difficult to walk Suddenly from last two day when i lay down flat on bed i feel something sttange or diziness And it shifted to left side When I turn over left side whole body feels diziness and room spining What it is?
I have a contour pillow that is thicker on the edges than in the middle. One edge is higher than the other. If I sleep on my side I use the higher side. If I’m on my back I use the lower side. I can’t sleep on any other kind of pillow anymore. It’s a lifesaver.
That can mean it may be a different canal involved, the anterior canal vs posterior. Or it may be a different cause that you would need to see your doctor for an appropriate diagnosis.
so if doing any of the maneuvers to get the crystal back where it needs to be, is it a fix/cure, or just subsiding it until the crystal gets out again, because its still loose right?
Hello sir, I have been facing vertigo from last 2 years and nothing seems to come to my rescue with physical health my mental health is at risk as i am not able yo find the cause for my vertigo can u help??
@@drjonsaunders I've had BPPV for about 20 years, right side when head back to that side. I sleep the way you suggested, elevated, pillows, etc. Early this morning in bed, turned to the LEFT side, but sort of down and wow that set off the spinning. Woke me up but didn't last long. So now what? Back only??? I really wish there was permanent surgery for this. On top of this I've had constant tinnitus for 5 years, right ear.
