Crazy how mainstream hip/hop rap has went from a complete masterpiece like this with hundreds of hours of work to a hour of work with a beat made in ten minutes. Maybe the good old days will come back again.
Because the technology behind it has gotten so much better. There's no need to have huge mastering decks and consoles, a laptop has enough to do it all. You can zip large files and send them over the internet. No need to fly to LA to get a mix done. No need to buy 10 different keyboards with specific presets, you can download a handful of VSTs and get any sound you want.
Just because the tech got better doesn’t mean it should be quicker. I think what OP met to say, is that artist aren’t going after the best possible sounds and options to amplify the record. It’s more simplistic and dare say, lazy. Even with better tech, artist today know they can get away with a lazier beat and lyrics, just the clout matters now.
imo there are still mainstream artists that take their time to perfect their craft or songs. you just gotta look in the right places. art that takes time to perfect doesn't dwindles as time go on, it just so happens that music that takes "less effort" gets more attention.
This is why Timbaland has moved into mentoring Young artist these days. Genius. I grew up listening to alternative rock, UK dance music and native tongues hip-hop... After years of seeing this video I realized that it was mixed 10 times because in the end what the real problem was the production of the track and sound selection.
Something cool about seeing talented people work
I really want to hear the different versions back to back cause there’s no doubt it was a good song but Timbaland made it what it is
Respect to them in the 2000s no question asked gold 💯💯💯
There’s a science to layering drums. It’s gotta be right
Kanye is a very great producer and an artist, a real artist knows every kick, snare, syth, violin, guitar string that is in the song, todays artist just sing or rap to whatever is offer to them..Yes he has ego but damn he works his ass off in the studio..
Some people an just hear the sound no one else can, it’s a special talent
"I have every drum machine ever made in this joint right here"
I don't doubt it either.
Tim is a legend. Forreal
This man said he got every drum machine and every choir ever made @2:30
Jeremy Thompson i believe timb
This man is the God on drums/percussion so I would say it’s safe to say I believe him 😂
@@TheShadowless no he's not. He had a ghost producer protégée named 'Danjahandz' producing some of his greatest beats and took credit for it.
@@ChescoYT danja did melodies..timbos cataloge goes back to 96...there is no better drum/percussion programmer in urban music...he never used the same drum pattern and his sense for rhythm is unique. 1.5TB of beats on my hard drive aint lying
@@g_o-a_t holy shit. Bro i didn't realize he never used the same drum pattern
1:45... Tim seems like he was offended lol
Yeah, I'd be like: "Why are you touching this beat anymore?" it's perfect, and we all know and knew how perfectionist Ye is. Like MJ, Timmy, and Quincy Jones, he can listen what other people can't listen too.
1:59 LMAOOOOOthe struggle is real
This is the song that introduced me to Kanye
Kanye went to Timbaland with that beat and he knew he had to “Bow at the presence of greatness”
808s now>808s then
+Ave Mcree (CeeMurda DaBasedgod) Came a long way lol, and thats cool to see you posting here Ive watched some of you're videos man keep up the good work
Mick Mc thanks dude
You know nothing Jon Snow!!!!
Looooooollllll
808's only as a kick drum then. 808's as a melodic baseline instrument now.
That video transition was slick as hell
Ah yes my favourite Knye song “Stonger” off the album “Gaduation”
who dislikes this???? its just behind the scenes footage of the process. I hate haters!!!!!
people who dont understand the importance of bieng creative with music Mike Ross
MIKEROSSMUSIC TH-cam PAGE a fuggin men
Ye, Mike, Timbo, and DP.
Legend shit.
that edit at the end bangs so much credit for that jeez
Crazy how mainstream hip/hop rap has went from a complete masterpiece like this with hundreds of hours of work to a hour of work with a beat made in ten minutes. Maybe the good old days will come back again.
on everything
Nowdays its all lazy preset 808’s and the same lazy repeat-note hi hats, back in the day the quality was so much better
imo there are still mainstream artists that take their time to perfect their craft or songs. you just gotta look in the right places. art that takes time to perfect doesn't dwindles as time go on, it just so happens that music that takes "less effort" gets more attention.
This is why Timbaland has moved into mentoring Young artist these days. Genius. I grew up listening to alternative rock, UK dance music and native tongues hip-hop... So Timbaland blew my mind in Hip Hop when he came out... Because he combined all of that into his Urban Pop creation with Aaliyah. I used to call him the best dance music producer in hip hop before hip hop artists followed his lead and did dance music songs. Kanye was genius for going to the genius timberland to fix this 😎🤘🏾
Fun fact: according to Manny Marroquin, the track’s mix engineer, in the end they went back to the original kick they had on the first day.
Kanye moment
I thought the original kick was fine tbh
Timberland beats so specific as I’m listening to this in my cars speakers the drums beat is coming out of the speakers flawlessly through both sides.
