    Choke settings can be difficult. There are 5 different adjustments! Trust me on this.
    Give yourself a few days to get it to your liking.The dash pot settings are critical. IF the dash pot(Pull off) is leaking,you will never get it correct.
    When cold,the choke butterfly needs to be closed all of the way. The" pull off "opens the choke butterfly,just enough to allow a full rich condition,when the engine is COLD.
    There are linkage adjustments,too. The fast idle cam needs to be set as well.
    Needle nose Vice Grips work well.
    Yes, the T.A.C. tube needs to be attached and working.(Big,shiny 2 " hose that goes to the exhaust manifold).
    This video was posted in March and there will not be a problem until December,when it's a LOT colder in the mornings,Dylan.
    The stumble may be caused by incorrect accelerator pump rod setting(s). It's a Holley carburetor.
    Yes,I have done these.
    The slant 6 is a GREAT engine.The other one that is great: 258 AMC engine,with 7 main bearings.
    I really enjoy your videos and I can help with your carburetor settings.

    Looking good, both the Duster and the Petty truck. Wish I had that A/C set up for my slant 6 Fury II.

    Another McCool video. I really like the idea of pulling the engine out and detailing the engine bay on the Duster. Man the Petty truck sounds awesome, nice lope in the idle too! How long has your Dad been working on cars and trucks?

    Petty truck sounds tough! Duster (my opinion) clean the engine bay and enjoy it... oh and definitely make sure brakes are all good 👍

    I had a friend that had a 74 Duster with the 225 slant six and my dad had a dozen different Chrysler products as company cars with the slant six. They all had a hesitation and stalling cold problems. It was typical of all the Mopar slant sixes of the era. My friends Duster was the same color as yours, but his had the brown alligator skin roof... aka a vinyl top.

    I have been a Mopar fiend since I was 8 years old. My uncle had a bunch of R/Ts, Chargers, Super Bees, and even a '66 Belvedere with a 440 police interceptor! Finding your channel has been a huge breath of fresh air back into my Mpoar addiction! you said in this video thar you appreiate all that your fans do. Well, I for one really appreciate what you do! Time and life have gotten in the way of my love for Mopar, but retirement has changed that! By the way, I retired at the age of 42! Keep 'em coming, love to see what's next! My new project is a '74 Plymouth Trailduster, matching #s, original tin truck. Wanted one since high school. I'll send the info to the email. I think you'll like what you see...

    Do yourself a favor and get a heated ultrasonic cleaner. I have a commercial one at my job and there is nothing better for cleaning carburetor parts, plus a LOT more. But, carburetors especially! I use water and Simple Green. Buy the SG at Sam's for $9/Gallon.

      I've watched a few vids where antifreeze is used to soak carb parts. It looks like it works very well.

    In the early 90’s, I could not get a rebuild kit with the correct accelerator pump diaphragm for my slant 6. But eventually I found a brand new car. At Murray’s Auto Parts, for $77. It ran perfect right out of the box.

    nice, only carbs i clean now are on my lawntractors, i use carb cleaner spray, sometimes brake cleaner, and use pine sol to soak them in. it works really good, let it set overnite ( after disassembly) in it and it cleans really great. use carb spray and good as new.
    like that sound the petty truck makes, that growl sounds awsome.
    hey that chillhop music is great, i recently started listening it as well.👍

    • @DylanMcCoolVideo
      @DylanMcCoolVideo  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      dangerous toys56 I used carb cleaner and brake cleaner too. Looking back I should've got something to let it soak over night but it's running just fine for me. If it gives more trouble that's what I'll do. Thanks!

    • @dangeroustoys5668
      @dangeroustoys5668 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dylan McCool - yea i herd about using pine sol a while back, its not as nasty as the big carb soak buckets, and be used multiple times. 👍

  • @queenofyeay

    "It's kind of an interesting way of packaging something" The reason they started packaging carb kits that way decades ago is because of the number of variations made of each carburetor. The packaging is meant to allow you to determine if you have the right kit for your carb. Most if not all auto parts places will not take back a carb kit if the plastic has been broken on the packaging. You are meant to disassemble the carb first, identify that you bought the right kit before breaking open the plastic. I have known mechanics to order all the possible kit variations of a carb to issure they get the right one, then return the unused kits.

    Nice bunch of vehicles you have. Curious why you didn't change the fuel filter earlier, like when you rebuilt the carb? How long did this car sit idle? How's the inside of the fuel tank?

    • @DylanMcCoolVideo
      @DylanMcCoolVideo  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Frank P I glanced over it. I didn't notice how bad it looks until after I put it back together. The previous owner would start the car a couple times a year but it hasn't been driven in a good while. I'll probably change the filter again after driving it some more, but the main reason it had the dead spot was because of the float being adjusted wrong.

    It’s funny bc I have a 79 Honda motorcycle I bought not too long ago and I believe the accelerator pump on the carb is bad on it seems like that goes bad on 1970 s cars or bikes lol 😂
