As somebody who has the irrational fear of being afraid of a piece of media once it reaches a certain amount of years old instead of being able to enjoy the memories, i am thankful for a sequel to trick my brain into thinking it shouldn't be scared cause the original is now still relevant. Poor AJ. She got a fate worse than death. Half responsible for the deaths of over a dozen ponies including her sister, Twilight more or less threw her under the bus, and she's serving a life sentence in a dark prison. I wonder how the Apple family and the rest of the mane 6 are handling this. Best case scenario, AJ doesn't get any of her memories back and she dies. Worst case scenario, they slowly return and become more vivid. If the fic had a sequel and she somehow gets out of there she'd go after Twilight with a vengeance. Also, if it were up to me I would've put Aj down instead of locking her up. Not as a punishment, but an act of kindness to a friend. Great song by the way.
I have to admit, this is probably one of my favorite songs I've ever written the lyrics and melodies for in the history of my TH-cam career... Glory did such an AMAZING JOB singing and Lost with her backing vocals are just awesome
What makes the story so unnerving to me is Twilight basically says it her potion robs AJ of her sleep when creatures don’t sleep they do really hallucinate and can be delusional the memory loss also lines up as it is a psychological affect of no sleep we don’t know how long Aj was awake by the time they cured her it’s no surprise she went insane it’s wonder she didn’t die herself

I think AJ was active without sleep like... 2 months. Just the fact that her broken legs were cured. Broken bones need to grow like... 3 weeks. But its only in normal way! AJ used to walk all this time and that slowed process of heal. And if its legs they take all weight of body. So its needed 2 or even 3 months. Without sleep... And still alive. We still don't know effects of magic. Twilight need to start buisnes of energetics.

Ok- time for a small story. I never listened to An Apple Sleep Experiment until a few months ago in like June/July. When I listened to it, I was obsessed with it. I love the story to the point I have fan art of the story as my laptop background. I listen to it atleast every week or so because of how it gives me the chills but also makes a good reading. When I saw “a bone breaking buck” in your trailer, I was hyped. I have been waiting for it since you announced the trailer and when I saw this I got more chills. At first it didn’t seem very scary but as it went on, I felt the chills. Well done Lost! Thank you for the amazing narration of An Apple Sleep Experiment and the song for it!

That potion that AJ drank really did a number on her mental health. I loved that story it was bone chilling and the ending, in my mind is kinda the aftermath of the potion wearing off. Still another awesome song for an awesome grimdark fic. Though the ending is really confusing.
Twilight should have known better than to give her friend an experimental potion that for all she knows could have immediately killed her or something a careless decision that resulted in the deaths of multiple ponies one of them being Apple Bloom (even if she does survive considering this is AJ we are talking about that kick definitely would cause major brain damage)

There was always one plot hole in the story I could never resolve. Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy and Rarity all knew that Twilight was the one who mixed up the potion that made Applejack go crazy. Why would they go along with her imprisonment? At the very least, why would they let that stay secret?
I always assumed everyone kept it secret because no one wanted to admit twilight could cause such carnage plus if twilight admits she caused it she’d be Imprisoned with AJ could be wrong tho

This was one of the first MLP darkfics I've listened to, so this brought back some nostalgia. As for the song itself, I just love the darkly melancholic beauty of the guitar and vocals, contrasted greatly with Applejack's twisted, violent side.

"A bone-breaking buck..." When you think about it, despite being the least popular of the mane six, AJ is the best and most terrifying candidate for grimdark. AJ's super-powered apple bucking strength is unparalleled, even among Earth ponies. I always wondered what kind of damage a buck could do if AJ was insane with anger.... and this fic answers that question 😬
@@animooredpanda7097 Basically, I had to look this up, but it was twilights potion/spell that made AJ basically go insane. It wasn’t because of the heat, as she told AJ. You also know it’s twilights fault because of when in the present, when they visit AJ, she’s gloomy and knows it’s her fault AJ winded up in the hospital.

Saying Apple went crazy in the heat and killed all those ponies so Twilight wouldn’t have to take partial blame for giving Applejack the potion in the first place. Because if the town found out her entire reputation as princess of friendship would be ruined. Apple is pretty much set to a life sentence in jail for her crimes and Twilight leaves with the town thinking she’s innocent but her having the guilt knowing part of this is her fault, and now her friend is paying for it.
Ending summed up: Applejack wakes up after affect of the potion (and when given the cure serum) and Twilight asks what she remembers and Applejack states that Twi gave her said potion but Twilight lies saying she never have it to her. She did this to save her own skin and keep her reputation (if Twi was honest she'd be also heald accountable for Applejack's breakdown and murders). Applejack felt betrayed and was upset. Twilight leaves Applejack to rot in the cell as Applejack asks if her family is ok. When she asked about Applebloom however and Twi didn't respond, its heavily implied that Applebloom died when AJ bucked her. This lead AJ to continue asking and fear what she may have done to Appleblooml

I know I keep saying this but I'd love a sequel to this story. Maybe a group of ponies gather to try to solve the mystery of what caused AJ to snap, for example Sunburst and Maud Pie because they don't buy Twilight's explanation of what "happened". They manage to get a visit to AJ with the help of someone like Discord to get them in without being noticed by someone who would tell Twilight. AJ, who remembers most of her actions, tells them what happened and they form a small group to expose the Princess of Friendship. Maud would have a stake in it because she noticed Pinkie was acting secretive and sad, Sunburst would have a stake because he's worried about Starlight and he wants to know the truth, Discord offers to help because for some odd reason he doesn't know how AJ was able to go on her madness induced rampage without him knowing and also to help Fluttershy who is too scared to tell anyone. Maybe add Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle because they want to understand what happened and seek the truth for Apple Bloom who is either paralyzed or dead. Maybe Sweetie Belle is also helping because Rarity asked her because she loves AJ and it kills her to see the pony she loves found guilty for a crime that wasn't entirely her fault. They could square down with the Mane Six and expose Twilight's lies But that's me just rambling

I saw the fic when it first came out on the channel. A couple years later, after I thought the fandom long gone following the end of MLP, you release this absolutely amazing piece to go with the already phenomenal thriller you made all that time ago. Lost, the fandom may be dwindling, the show may be over, but you’re still one of the best I’ve come across. Your readings and your own works were some of the highlights of my time as a brony.

@@arcticwolflover263 I remembered listening to Apple Jack's story and the one with the butterflies. Both were creepy, especially the one with Twilight and her toy Smarty Pants. As for Rarity it was by dubbed comics.

When you think about it, despite being the least popular of the mane six, AJ is the best and most terrifying candidate for grimdark. AJ's super-powered apple bucking strength is unparalleled, even among Earth ponies. I always wondered what kind of damage a buck could do if AJ was insane with anger.... and this fic answers that question 😬

I agree with the ending, it confused me until I finally knew what happened. I also believe it’s twilights fault for AJs downfall.

@@animooredpanda7097 Basically, I had to look this up, but it was twilights potion/spell that made AJ basically go insane. It wasn’t because of the heat, as she told AJ. You also know it’s twilights fault because of when in the present, when they visit AJ, she’s gloomy and knows it’s her fault AJ winded up in the hospital.
@@animooredpanda7097 Twilight lied to Applejack at the end. Saying Apple went crazy in the heat and killed all those ponies so Twilight wouldn’t have to take partial blame for giving Applejack the potion in the first place. Because if the town found out her entire reputation as princess of friendship would be ruined. Apple is pretty much set to a life sentence in jail for her crimes and Twilight leaves with the town thinking she’s innocent but her having the guilt knowing part of this is her fault, and now her friend is paying for it.
Ending summed up:
Applejack wakes up after affect of the potion (and when given the cure serum) and Twilight asks what she remembers and Applejack states that Twi gave her said potion but Twilight lies saying she never have it to her. She did this to save her own skin and keep her reputation (if Twi was honest she'd be also heald accountable for Applejack's breakdown and murders). Applejack felt betrayed and was upset. Twilight leaves Applejack to rot in the cell as Applejack asks if her family is ok. When she asked about Applebloom however and Twi didn't respond, its heavily implied that Applebloom died when AJ bucked her. This lead AJ to continue asking and fear what she may have done to Appleblooml
This was one of my favorites and I just love that people are keeping it alive. It just goes to show that even with the show over with the fans will keep it alive. That makes me feel better.

Just as the other day i watch the apple sleep experiment. You can clearly hear the rage in applejack voice And the betrayal that aj feel when twilight put blame on aj. Bravo! Love this❤

AppleJack was my favourite already, but when i see her like this, i don't know why but i love her more, even if she's a crazy murderer(or an assassin for hire if you've watched Friendship is Tragic), i swear why do i love the characters more when they're etheir murderers or just downright crazy? I probaly have been here already. And it’s nooo surprise apple jack and her dark tales are my favorite. But this song terrifies me.. you do so damn damn well.. that I just love this to bits..
I know I keep saying this but I'd love a sequel to this story. Maybe a group of ponies gather to try to solve the mystery of what caused AJ to snap, for example Sunburst and Maud Pie because they don't buy Twilight's explanation of what "happened". They manage to get a visit to AJ with the help of someone like Discord to get them in without being noticed by someone who would tell Twilight. AJ, who remembers most of her actions, tells them what happened and they form a small group to expose the Princess of Friendship.
Maud would have a stake in it because she noticed Pinkie was acting secretive and sad, Sunburst would have a stake because he's worried about Starlight and he wants to know the truth, Discord offers to help because for some odd reason he doesn't know how AJ was able to go on her madness induced rampage without him knowing and also to help Fluttershy who is too scared to tell anyone. Maybe add Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle because they want to understand what happened and seek the truth for Apple Bloom who is either paralyzed or dead. Maybe Sweetie Belle is also helping because Rarity asked her because she loves AJ and it kills her to see the pony she loves found guilty for a crime that wasn't entirely her fault. They could square down with the Mane Six and expose Twilight's lies
But that's me just rambling
Now I'm more scared of AJ than I ever was of Pinkie or RD in their iconic creepypastas, that fact you do such a good AJ makes it that much scarier

I saw the fic when it first came out on the channel. A couple years later, after I thought the fandom long gone following the end of MLP, you release this absolutely amazing piece to go with the already phenomenal thriller you made all that time ago. Lost, the fandom may be dwindling, the show may be over, but you’re still one of the best I’ve come across. Your readings and your own works were some of the highlights of my time as a brony.
