Translated into simple speech: If you're lusting, you're sinning by you're committing adultery.
So if this pastor is out in public wearing a football jersey and then gets tackled by a professional football player, can we assume he was asking for it?
You see, that’s why he wouldn’t be caught outside wearing a football jersey. Hell, he remembers a time when men wore real dignified clothes to the mall he snoops around at and didn’t go around wearing sports gear like these modern sinners 😤
Being raised as a southern Pentecostal, that absolutely made my blood boil. "Man's a man" I have heard that growing up my whole life. I remember one time a preacher defended sex offenders in my town, and so many people walked out with their kids and babies in tow.
Restraint and Fighting Temptation are like the two fundamental things Christianity is always preaching for. Then these priests turn around and say sht like this. Really they'll say whatever suits them in the moment
My dad's dad was a hardcore Southern Baptist. He had a firm rule in the car: boys in the front seat, girls in the back. I get incredibly car sick so every trip in the car was miserabl. Looking back, I wished I'd been able to weaponize my gag reflex. I'd have puked all over his Sunday suit.
Ahh, that famous biblical quote “if your eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. But if the shorts cause you to sin, gouge out their wearers eye, they deserve it really”
My mom once told me “rape is a crime of power, not passion.” It’s not about satisfying lust because you got turned on seeing exposed skin. It’s about exerting power to control someone by violating them in one of the worst ways possible. It’s absolutely repulsive. Also I doubt this guy would ever be on a jury for a rape case because for one thing he admitted he’s biased. For another, he might be deemed not of sound mind.
It's not that black and white bud. People commit all kinds of crimes for all kinds of reasons. Some people murder out of revenge, some for money, others for fun like serial killers. Same thing goes for rape bud. Different people do it for different reasons. To say it's always about "power" is like saying all murders are done for money. That's not how it works at all.
As a guy I've never even been able to wrap my mind around that. A while back an ex girlfriend of mine and I were about be intimate and she was getting ahead of herself and was trying to just jump right into it and it was fucking painful... Like, holy shit. So, I think I would have to agree with that, that it doesn't have anything to do with anything sexual. That's so twisted.
Reminds me of those museums of the clothes of rape victims. Most of them weren't even wearing skimpy or provacative clothes. It was really sad and scary seeing everyday clothes, or clothes of children hanging on walls and knowing that's all it took for them to be raped. Nothing to do with what they were wearing, just an evil person with horrible intentions
Right, there were 2 times when I was almost abducted as a child, and I was literally wearing just regular kids' clothes because I was 7-years-old while a guy watched me in his car in front of our house while I played outside. The next time I was almost taken was while I was in my house as a 9-year-old playing in the living room when a guy tried to enter through a window. The only reason I survived was because both times my dad happened to be there to stop it. In fact, most of the times I've been targeted was during childhood minding my own business and just being a kid. Rapist don't need to see you in revealing clothes because they know what's underneath and have their own imaginations. They are on a mission and don't care what you happen to be wearing that day.
Yeah but too many people want to say "boys will be boys" it's all to often that people will say "well men have a higher s*x drive, so women should be more modest as to not tempt them". No women didn't tempt them! People being entitled, and being allowed to get away with their entitlement is the problem. We need to stop making excuses, and we need to have longer sentences for these people.

well plenty times women are “asking for it” but that doesn’t mean you should give it to them, girls who dress like that aren’t even worth talking to, let alone anything more
Yeah... If they're wearing shorty shorts, it's totally their own fault if people are staring, because that's just attention-seeking, but there is literally never a justification for rape. Nobody, not even an outright streaker, would be "asking for it"; to be assaulted and forever traumatized.
@@zenixkiryu thats still a bad take but its kinda understandable, i get where you are coming from but rephrasing it could make it sound better. i think that people should understand that dressing certain ways has consequences like people staring at you but rape, harrassment, and even unnecessary comments are never deserved or warranted

The fact that he was very confident in saying that out loud in front of people is very telling and scary because he has probably gotten away with it before using religion and was never held accountable for it by anyone.
True. It's like he's speaking from experience and defending himself from something he did. That much hate for women is unnatural. Especially over...shorts. The most common warm weather wear for any gender. Lul wtf

The camera is facing directly at him you don’t know if anyone walked out and there was clearly backlash or else this clip wouldn’t have got out and gone viral
He was trying to backtrack and distract from what he just said almost immediately afterward. He kept his eyes down on the podium, interrupted himself a lot more, and made a "Well, cause you know back in MY day-" statement to garner agreement, then used God to deflect. I'm guessing he saw a few eyebrows raise and someone (probably his wife) made a face that let him know that he was sailing into shark infested water (hence, how this went viral). (Not saying that people in the audience didn't agree with him, mind you. Just that some of them have enough sense to know not to say their vile opinions outloud).
I used to be a Nurse/Caregiver and had a woman with severe dementia except instead of her brain feeling like it was getting older she was recalling her early memories. When ever you had a conversation with her she would spiral into that conversation. This was more often a bad thing then a good thing. She had spiraled multiple times about her family and once she would get to her brothers you'd be in tears by the end of the conversation. She had gotten pregnant by her brothers due to the years of repeated SA. Then was told that she was a Wh0re by her own father in church when he knew the circumstances and didn't want people knowing. She never healed from that and so when I hear this it's like one of the worst tastes my tongue had ever tasted. Terrible.

They get terrified when they need help bathing and such and it's always heartbreaking. People saying that women's existing tempts men as it's their nature are disgusting when it's men like this and depressing when it's other women.
I have the same stories to tell when I worked in a dementia wing it was always so so sad I do the same line of work you had mentioned it’s so so sad especially when an episode happens or an off day it’s heart breaking and it can be so hard helping them through the worry and anxiety it causes
"A man's a man!" A man is supposed to have self control, in the book it's called a fruit of the spirit. That pastor doesn't seem to know what a good man is.
@@vmofu7317 Respect is valuing another human being. Control is not taking urges, negative emotions or trauma out on another human being. My dad is a pastor, and one of the first things I ever learned from him was that when he’s up on that stage he tries not to always sound like he’s complaining or bringing people down. But instead he acknowledges that he’s a person who is flawed just like everyone else and encourages people to love others rather than constantly judge them. As a minister you’re called to be God’s hands and feet on Earth spreading the love of Jesus Christ through teaching the word of God and most importantly through serving and acting on it. And at the end of the day that’s what being a minister is all about, being a servant, not a judge. My dad inspires me to be a better person because he always puts himself aside for the needs of others and for God. And that he doesn’t always complain about how wrong or sinful everyone is as if he is somehow perfect. I wish other preachers had that same mentality because it’s men like this who give preachers and Christians overall a bad rep.
I had the opportunity to hear from a pastor like your dad when I lived in Kansas. He was a very good man and made a lot of the awful Sunday Christians angry when he called them out. Big dude, too. The phenomenon you're described in the beginning is called the Baader-Meinhof phenomenon, also known as frequency illusion. This occurs when something you've recently noticed, learned about, or thought about suddenly seems to appear with improbable frequency shortly afterwards. This isn't because these things are actually appearing more frequently, but rather because your awareness of them has increased, leading your brain to spot them more often.

Your brain simply didn't register or was conciously looking for volvo cars until now. Schizophrenia is a mental disorder that results in difficulty seperating reality from fiction and hallucinations. As a Christian, I'm ALL for pointing out the hypocrisy. How does a man of God sleep at night, blaming rape victims for getting raped? How God hasn't called in the horsemen out of frustration with the people claiming to be His mouthpiece yet is beyond my comprehension.

Dudes like this who justify rape because "God made men that way" or get stupid rich off of offerings and exploited power because "God blessed them with wealth" have a special circle in hell.
There's a weird social pressure in church to stay silent even if the sermon is offensive and blasphemous. It's a strange set up that allows for a lot of bs and abuse by church leaders. I needed this today, there are a lot of churches that I've heard of that say things like this. That women dressing a certain way, shorts is an example makes you a "target" and you should be fully covered, long sleeves, long pants/skirts, otherwise its your fault if you get raped.
considering Jesus literally said that women should be able to wear what they want and that any supposed 'temptation' had at a woman wearing what she wants was the man's problem and not the woman's, I wouldn't trust anything coming out of any church willing to say that shit.

When I was 10, a guest speaker came to visit the church my family attended. Before the service started, two sisters walked in on this dude grabbing a crying girl by her chest. Turns out he cornered her in the bathroom and tried to make small talk for some reason. She was 11 btw, wearing a ruffled pink dress with daisies on it. We stopped going after that. It’s been years but that always stuck out to me. I have my beliefs but I can’t walk into a church without remembering that moment. And not all pastors or churches are like that but the fact they exist sickens me. It’s a grave insult to God and what he stands for
I refer to these people as professional Christians. The churchgoers who sin all week and have virtue on Sunday. They seldom live their life in the image of Jesus. They gossip in the pews. Yeah, my spiritual relationship with God is not dependent on the church🤗

As a Christian, I'm ALL for pointing out the hypocrisy. How does a man of God sleep at night, blaming rape victims for getting raped? How God hasn't called in the horsemen out of frustration with the people claiming to be His mouthpiece yet is beyond my comprehension.
Lol like the the Bible doesn't have instances where God is complacent with rape.
False prophets
@@DigitalCosmos555 Really? 'Cause my version clearly states a death penalty for rape. You might've gotten his version. *points to video*
@@ZetaNeubournooooof. Yeah, he’s definitely complacent with it
I've always interpreted the third commandment "Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord in vain" (essentially) to mean "Don't do bad things and use God as an excuse." Dudes like this who justify rape because "God made men that way" or get stupid rich off of offerings and exploited power because "God blessed them with wealth" have a special circle in hell.
"Being a man" should involve defending women from rapists, not being a rapist smh
How did no one stand up and yell WTF?! That’s an automatic stop filming, cut it off, timeout, etc…. Concentrated insanity.
Eh, considering those are American evangelicals, I'd dare to bet that at least ½ agreed, considering they're very fundamentalist & Conservative.
There's a weird social pressure in church to stay silent even if the sermon is offensive and blasphemous. It's a strange set up that allows for a lot of bs and abuse by church leaders. If my childhood church allowed the congregation to actively challenge the pastor, I might still have some faith left.
@@slavvy.mp4884Don't make assumptions like that.

I mean, I wouldn't have said anything because It was being recorded, now everyone can see who he really is XD
I've been in churches where clothing and some of the more traditional views were talked about but I'm glad my preacher usually takes time to speak against pedophiles, crime, corruption, being mentors to the youth and teaching them how to be our next generation of skilled craftsmen, tradesmen and leaders. There are definitely bigger fish out there, and I'm glad you catch them Charlie.
I have a hard time trusting anyone who worships the serial killer god of the Bible. Imagine worshipping someone who drowned millions of babies for his own ego.

Someone revoke this man's priesthood.
The issue is, he’s probably from a disunited denomination, so there is no head to reject him. Now his church on the other hand ABSOLUTELY HAS TO have bylaws in place to remove him in a vote. If they don’t, then it’s another failed church that failed itself and its congregation by nowt putting the laws in place to handle issues like this.

Which is crazy when you consider women have been getting raped all throughout history even when being fully clothed was the only fashion choice available. It’s so gross the lengths people are willing to go to justify the actions of monsters
@@dreamiinotdream730Also, regardless of gender it's generally understood that predators attack when they think the victim is vulnerable enough and unlikely to be able to get help and/or unlikely to go get it afterwards. Predators are opportunistic this way, and so will usually only attack when an opportunity presents itself so the victim's clothing or how attractive they are is irrelevant to who/where/when they'll attack.
@@anonymouscommentor411 And I have to imagine that a society where women are not believed and/or blamed for heinous crimes perpetrated against them would cause said women to feel (and be) more vulnerable to aforementioned creeps, thereby potentially INCREASING the SA rate. That pastors "solution" could very well make things way worse by every metric. Well, except for the "SAers held accountable" metric, I guess?
@@idontwantahandlethough Not a woman problem, a human problem. Gender literally doesn't matter, if it got a hole... not even that, but most do prefer a hole. Anyway, there won't change much with the victim rates as long it is seen as a gender issue.
As a native Tennessean this is saddening but utterly unsurprising. This is a pretty common mentality especially among the older folk. The only consolation is that they're on their way out and all we can do is try to unpoison the minds that they've been speaking to for all these years.
