2:15 1000% man, I totally agree that it is VERY convenient to have a cash option at tolls, especially for those people who only have cash on hand. lol
Half iced tea, half lemonade is one of my favorite drinks. Glad to see Florida acknowledge it by calling part of the highway Arnold Palmer.
There is an Arnold Palmer Airport in Latrobe, PA, which is his hometown.
Arnold Palmer is one of my faves too..
Florida tollways in my experience are worth the money. So smooth and the whole ride is eye candy with good landscaping. Luckily I haven’t been in heavy traffic on any tollway yet haha
3:30 Tinker Field used to be a spring training field where the outfield faces the citrus bowl before the citrus bowl was renovated. Thats when there were Spring Training games played in Orlando/Kissimmee. Nowadays grapefruit league gamss are either in the Tampa Bay area, SW florida and Jupiter/WPB
I’m excited about US 61 southbound next week!!
Gonna be cool!
@@ControlCityFreak If you see anything weird signage in Mississippi and/or Louisiana on 61, Let me know at once, I can find a solution.
7:46 This lake crossed by FL 408 south of Orland Executive Airport is called Lake Underhill.
3:30 ☠️☠️☠️
I can’t wait for US 61 I live off that highway!
This video showed almost everywhere I lived in Orlando. I lived off Semoran, Goldenrod, Mills, and in Ocoee. Didn’t realize how much I actually could have taken the 408 if it wasn’t for the tolls.
With as many significant suburbs as there are in the Orlando metro area, my list for this highway came out very simple, with only a couple additional controls to make everything pretty symmetrical. As usual, left to right is eastbound.
The Villages-Ocoee-Orlando-Alafaya-Titusville
Since Ocoee is listed as a control for the western end of the toll road, I figured that there should also be one for the eastern end; hence Alafaya. And since Titusville is listed as a control for the next metro continuing east past the terminus, I put another one for past the western terminus; hence the Villages. It is a metro area along Florida’s Turnpike before it ends near Ocala, so I think it should be mentioned. Overall, I’d say that this route is signed pretty good.
I considered Alafaya but like I said, not incorporated. If The Villages grows to a million people, I still don’t think it should be signed anywhere. It’s not incorporated and it’s not a real city
Can you please do a US1 super cut?
In Florida, “SR” is “State Road”, not “route”. It was a big deal when the “I-4 Ultimate” construction at 408 was completed, with Express Ramps too. And I’ll be at the Citrus Bowl for a concert in June!! Thanks!
Your music knowledge is second to none. And just out of curiosity, how do you feel about the current name of the stadium where the Pro Bowl is played? It's not clear from the video 😂.
As we all know Todd hates corporate named stadiums (and I don't blame him for it)
7:54 I went to the executive airport in 2022 to greet the Special Olympics teams coming into town for the 2022 USA games.
The only time I have ever been to Florida is the Orlando International Airport. I flew from Pittsburgh to Orlando, and then from there to Kansas City. Then I flew from KC to Orlando and then to Pittsburgh. It was the most convenient place to have a layover!
3:30 Does the sign really have that graffiti on it? Or did control city freak add that in himself?
He added it in himself ☠️
I remember avoiding this road. Because... tolls.
Wouldn’t mind Gainesville as a westbound control city either
Lol "You can't spell Citrus without the UT." Not a Florida fan but a classic quote
Here’s Speedboy14’s the way it should be for FL 408
Eastbound: Orlando, Titusville
Westbound: Orlando, Winter Garden
Do 528 toll next year for the Pro Bowl!!!!
possibility for doing something in Columbus for Ohio St's natty?
Given the trajectory of 408 westbound where it meets the Turnpike, I suppose you could sign Ocala, or even Gainesville, past I-4.
Hmmm yes Arnold Palmers
Pro Bowl should be in Honolulu 😢
True. Way better reward for the players
@ControlCityFreak Also liked the Pro Bowl better when it was after the Super bowl. I guess I'm old
@@ControlCityFreak Interesting fact on the US 61 video. A stretch of the highway from St. Paul, MN to St. Louis, MO is known as the Avenue of the Saints. Just want to point that out to you.
Well tbf there won’t be another Aloha Stadium for a while
Spessard Holland was a former governor and Senator in Florida. His biggest accomplishment was formally introducing the 24th Amendment.
6:52 I think I live on the other side of that forest.
East - west: west to Clermont, if we are going to Titusville going east (the expressway is the sr50.bypass).
Now you can use PikePass in Florida which is Oklahoma’s toll pass.
SR 417 and SR 429 didn’t connect until early 2024, hence the different numbers.
Thoughts with all those effected by AA 5342 today. I saw the news at 6 AM ET (I had an 8 ET class) and was like “f**k” when I saw that
Yeah awful
Go AFC,few more weeks until spring training
Always thought is was weird to have the possessive form of Florida's Turnpike instead of the Florida Turnpike. My turnpike--no sharing.
lol
Lonesome Dave Peverett of Foghat fame is bured not too far from the west end of this toll road. So slow ride take it easy.
Wow, I looked up Ocoee. Not a history to be proud of!
FL 408 parallels FL 50 within Orange County, FL, the primary county of the Orlando Metropolitan Area. When leaving the county seat, Orlando, I agree to sign Titusville to the east, but I'll sign Gainesville to the west where it will eventually meet FL's Tpke. Why would they sign Ocoee, a suburb of Orlando? Also, why would FL's Tpke sign Ocala? It should be Gainesville because you know, the Gators.
I bet US 13 Will be done because Eagles are going against Chefs
And it will be The first time that you'll be in Hampton Roads ever since I-64
It’ll be US 61 next week, because the game is in New Orleans.
