The Phoenixes didn't have the range to have a prayer of getting into EMP distance of the Melters. I ran into a similar situation recently where my opponent was leaning hard on succ melters (not multi though) and I the end I was able to win by using Range+EMP Farseers from a drop, with my damage coming from a mass of Ranged Elite Phoenixes (I actually considered EMP on the Phoenixes but didn't equip it). Ironically my opponent predicted I'd go for the EMP when the Farseers card came up and took them as well for the Photon Coating to counter my EMP, but the battles were too much of a grind, and the range meant that my Farseers were still alive by the time the Photon had expired 20 seconds later, which was enough to tip the battle for me.
i might have gone wasp shield and emp on the marksman because you already had sniper units invested and the wasps to reintroduce chaff back into your army as the chaff was all being burned alive leaving your big hitters weak to melter multibeam, there wasnt a lot of anti air other than a couple fangs and obviously the melters which would be the main goal to distract..... although its pretty easy to say after the fact. keep the videos rolling :)
Wouldn't EMP stormcallers have been more sensible as a response to multimelter? Without the range upgrade phoenixes can't get a lock-on.
