    The IEM journey never ends; even if you reach your definition of perfection you'll just start chasing unique tech and intentionally colored sound

    Hello, thanks for the great review. Is the bass quick and snappy like Odin? Also how does it compare in soundstage department to Odin?

      Definitely would be interested in this comparison especially since the MEST MK2 and Indigo have such a cult following

      Have both but not the Odyssey.

    The thing that does not convince me at all, is the fact that Astell&Kern chooses a 300-dollar cable for this particular IEM. And asks for the Odyssey in Europe even 3999 euros for this IEM. What makes it 300 euros more expensive than the Odin. In the US, the prices are the same. Even then it makes no sense when the Odin uses a 1300-dollar cable for its IEM. When we take a look at the drivers, again we see that the Odyssey uses 10 drivers vs 11 drivers for the Odin. The whole price difference still doesn't make any sense. Based on common sense, it becomes difficult to explain these differences.

      If they want to put 300 dollar cable on such an expensive cable they should at least remarket it first as something that is not on the shelves.

      Driver count really doesn't mean all that much, especially when they aren't targeting neutral sound. Take the z1r or the trio for instance; only three drivers per unit but consistently considered endgame both tonally and technically. And the price difference with the cable really isn't all that weird given that it's effect audio, who make extremely overpriced cables, vs pwaudio, who make cables more expensive than any device you could possible connect them to. If anything a cheaper cable is a good sign since the savings could go to the quality of the unit and not just cover the A&K tax 😂

    Nice !
    I’d put my Moondrop Variations up against them !
    My question regarding “bone conduction “…do they work with the supplied tips ..or should you really get a CIM package.💸💸

      The bone conduction effect works very well with the included tips, and will work with pretty much any silicone ear tip on the market. Foam ear tips reduce the effect, but you can use this IEM with pretty much any ear tip you want!

    How it compare to the Wraith with the SP3K?

    • @moon-audio
      @moon-audio  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Wraith is a brighter and more neutral sounding IEM compared to the Odyssey. The Odyssey has the Bone conduction tech with a much stronger bass presences and a warmer overall sound. Both are great IEMs and both work very well with the SP3k!

    At the official presentation of these earphones by a respected headphone specialist, we were very interested with 25 people present to see how the Odyssey would do in direct comparison with the Odin and the rest of the Empire-Ear portfolio.
    Well, none of us could give a verdict, because these plugs are so big and unergonomically shaped that really none of us could achieve a proper seal.
    For the boneconductor, however, it is absolutely necessary to have a solid contact with the auricle, which is not possible due to the shape and size, so the bass reproduction was completely inadequate.
    We all agreed that these earphones are the most expensive hi-fi blunders of the year. Sorry

      For some strange reason Empire Ears includes only Final Type E tips with their IEMs even though they don't fit properly and force a uncomfortable insertion angle. if you get the right tips (Spinfit CP100+, CP145, CP360, or Whizzer ET100) their IEMs are are extremely comfortable.
