Yeah! I too am not a big fan of the new wiggles, but out of Emma, Lachy, and Simon, Lachy and Simon are good, Emma I’m extremely iffy iffy with because I do prefer Greg or Sam over her. I just think compared to Emma, Greg and Sam fit better as the yellow wiggle!
Badmotorfinger I agree with you. But the new wiggles are not horrible. It took me a while to get used to Simon and Lachy, but I took time to have a listen to them and I like them now. I do not like Emma, never have never will, but I’m not gonna go out of my way to be mean to her. She is very talented, but she’s just not for me in terms of my entertainment. I much prefer Greg or Sam over her because they fit better as the yellow wiggle. And as for who I would rather have between Jeff and Lachy, between Greg or Sam, and between Murray and Simon, it depends on the day, but Greg, Murray, and Jeff will always be my first preferences.
Anthony was clearly not a fan of Sam's...there always seemed to be tension between them. The handling of Sam's departure was sad and I personally think it was Anthony's pleasure to get rid of him. Sad, as my daughter grew up watching both lineups and we were partial to Sam. A little side note, I portrayed Sam in a Tribute to The Wiggles in New England from 2009 to 2012 and even met Mr. Moran, who was nothing but polite and a true gentleman
I always felt Anthony took Greg’s original departure much more personally compared to Murray and Jeff. Especially considering Greg was there from the very beginning and was a founding member of the group. I understand why he may have felt some tension when Sam was bought on board. I was sad to see Greg leave the first time (even though I was 10 and clearly outgrown my Wiggles phase) but from what I saw, Sam proved himself to be a worthy addition and a good replacement. He was exactly what the group needed during such a difficult time. However, I still maintain Sam’s departure was handled awfully and a very poor business decision. I believe they should’ve least told Sam well in advance that the decision was made to have Greg return and Sam would graciously step aside to let Greg return as the OG yellow wiggle. Why wait until his contract ended? I don’t get it? The transition from Sam to back to Greg also could have had some more time thought out to ease things in. Compared to the first transition from Greg to Sam, it was very rushed and very unprepared. Suddenly, children who grew up on the Sam era were confused on why the OG yellow Wiggle was back without any sense of build up. It was very clear from this interview that Anthony, nor even the rest of the Wiggles, were prepared for the backlash and it shows. Greg thankfully did his best to not make the situation awkward but Anthony just stumbled. And you don’t agree with the interviewee that your former colleague was a “Hired Hand”. How extremely harsh. However, I do think later on, The Wiggles clearly regretted the way they treated Sam during this time. As their manager went on to explain that they should have handled things much better than what eventually happens. Overall. The Wiggles could have found a better way to have Sam leave and Greg return. But it was badly handled and badly thought out. They were very unprofessional with their treatment of Sam, as well as the nature of his departure.

It’s not like they expected Greg to be the one to leave first especially since he’s the youngest. Did you not see Anthony’s reaction towards Greg fainting during that reunion earlier this year? That says it all right there. Why wouldn’t Anthony take it personally. I do agree with somewhat of the San part. If they wanted to released him, they could’ve done better.
Sam was basically laid off from the Wiggles because they went through a recession at the end of 2011. The Wiggles asked Greg to return temporarily from January--August 2012 to transition from Sam to Simon. Sarah Whitaker they didn’t want to talk about it because they’re The Wiggles, they’re supposed to be kind and happy and friendly, but they basically fired Sam after his years of dedication to the group (he started as a dancer in 1998) so they could bring Greg back. It's probably both. In 2010, Anthony felt that Sam was leaving because Sam did some occasional solo performances and released his first solo album. That was what caused creative differences between Anthony and Sam. Sam said that he didn't know that Greg was returning temporarily to replace him until the day before it was announced. Greg was asked to return temporarily for 8 months to help transition from Sam to Simon. Then Jeff & Murray decided to leave in 2012, so they asked Greg to extend his stay so he could leave alongside them. In the band's documentary that came out recently, Anthony said that he wasn't involved in a conversation with Jeff or Murray about them leaving and Jeff & Murray made the decision to leave without him knowing.
Its sad how the wiggles treated and still treats Sam Its like he was never there. Looking at the 30th anniversary album there are only around 2 Sam songs on there. He deserves more love. Tbh I think the Sam era might have been the best.
I think here's what they should have done, they should have gotten Greg back and put sam on hold, then when murray Greg and Jeff would retire, then they should have gotten Sam to come back and he and Anthony would be with the other 2 new wiggles.
When Greg came back, Jeff & Murray hadn’t made the decision to retire yet. Simon was originally to take over the role of yellow in August 2012, with Greg holding the role to transition into another new Wiggle.

Obviously, the Wiggles recovered from this, and very well; the new team after Greg, Muarry, and Jeff retired have been doing fabulously well, so it's obvious they learned how to handle transitions better (making Emma, Lachy, and Simon Wiggles in Training for concerts was a brilliant move, and gave the kids time to see them in action.) Here's what's wierd about this whole thing though: If the intention, as I read it when this whole thing went down, was to welcome Greg back if/when he recovered enough to do so...why did you give Sam the yellow T-shirt? Why didn't you give him a new color, such as orange, and make it clear in a video or episode that hopefully Greg would be coming back later, or at least, give the character the option to do so? Blue's Clues did this brilliantly; they sent the character of Steve off to college, and were sure to get the impression that Joe, Steve's brother, was just watching things..keeping things running as usual for when/if he decided to come back. Now, of course, Steve has not come back yet, but greg did, and it led to this awkwardness from the Wiggles. IF they had given him a new color, and gave the impression that Greg might return later, like, maybe, I dunno, sending him to a magician school or something, there might not have been any backlash to deal with, Now, for those who say, "But, they couldn't have harped on Greg returning, that wouldv'e made the show too sad for Greg fans!" True, except....Blue's Clues didn't harp on Steve being away either. In Joe's entire two season tenure, Steve is mentioned twice outside of his departure episode; once when he comes back to co-host the 100th episode, and once on the phone for a holiday special. Aside from that, never mentioned while Joe's there..and why should they mention him? Joe has this well in hand. :) The Wiggles could have handled it the same way. THAT's how the Wiggles should have done it; you would have avoided ANY controversy that way, IMO. :)

Both Sam and Greg did a fine job during their time as yellow wiggle. Things change, that's how it goes. Glad that the Wiggles are doing a good job entertaining kids. :-)
Here's how it should've been handled. Greg should have been in a costume, and the other Wiggles go on some kind of adventure only to discover that Sam had secretly switched places with greg for all of that time. And then given it a happy ending where Sam ends up back in a costume and Greg takes back the yellow skivvy so that the 4 wiggles can go on together as the group originally was, and after that, pretend that Sam is in the costume whether he's there or not, or even make it appear that it was all a dream or something.

While they're eating, the dog fucks off and they decide to "split up" with each guy going in 1 or 4 directionsl 3.Sam finds Greg asleep, propped up against a tree or living in a cave and calls the others to help wake him up because it worked so well on Jeff in the past... ;) Co-incidentally, the dog was right there with Greg. 4. Mysteriously he is wearing a GREEN skivvy and because we live in a politically correct and perfectly non-discriminatory wiggly world, 4. Howev, upon waking, Greg seems to be suffering from some kind of amnesia so they chuck him in the car and take him home and to help bring back his memory they sing a shitload of their old songs, but now they are able to sing in 5-part harmony, which leads to the release of a new album which includes both the Green Wiggle and the Yellow Wiggle.
Why did terminate same completely. He’s been with the Wiggles since 2002. He was Greg’s understudy. Before he was the official new Yellow Wiggle, he filled in for Greg more than a 150 times. Sam deserves a lot better than this.
My grandson was able to see this show in person and at the meet and greet prior to the shows. Greg was good - but Sam was just as good, maybe a little better. Incredulous that Sam worked so long with them and, in particular, Anthony seems to have little knowledge about Sam's feelings - much less any respect toward what he contributed to the shows. How sad that this group handled this so poorly!

People say Anto fumbled this interview, but honestly, if he really did have "nothing to do with it" (as he claims in the clip), then what else more could he say? He was clearly caught off-guard---and if he "had nothing to do with it", then that's hardly surprising. It's ridiculous how people pin the whole Sam situation on Anthony, when the reality is that it had to be far more complex than that. (After all, Anto doesn't have executive veto power in The Wiggles' brand.)
I know it's difficult and the situation could've been handled better, but we need to respect people's decisions (sometimes). As audiences, we may never know exactly what happened behind the scenes. That's the reality of showbiz after all.
While I did grow up with the original Wiggles line-up (Anthony, Murray Cook, Jeff Fatt, Greg Page), I understand that they need to evolve in order to stay relevant. They will continue to do so (whether or not you like it).

I remember watching the wiggles as a kid I actually thought that Greg and Sam looked exactly the same. But now rewatching the episodes it was because they sounded so alike when they sang that made my child's brain think they were twins. XD I never watched much of when Sam was a member sadly but if he was good enough to sound exactly like Greg then I think he should have been a fifth Wiggle like when they first started.
This interview was featured in the new Wiggles documentary. What really happened was Greg was coming back because Sam wasn't going to continue on but it didn't come across that way in the media and the story became Greg wanted back in and kicked Sam out and that wasn't true. So it ended up a big mess with lot's of miscommunication etc. Even though I was happy that Greg came back I look at it now and I really felt for them at that time 💛💙❤💜
Poor Sam - not very nice how they are referring to him as just an "employee" - what great bosses they seem to be - chuck him aside and get the other bloke back - not done with any class whatsoever. I feel for Sam big time - but he has been the bigger person and done a video for the kids to explain - maybe the other Wiggles should do a video explaining why they feel it's right to dump a member in such a shocking way. My kids love the Wiggles - but I've really lost respect for them.

Jeff and Anthony put themselves in this awkward position live on TV. Last I read Anthony, Paul, Jeff and Murray all owned the wiggles brand at the time. They made the decision to fire Sam, which is there right. However they were not prepared to answer for their personnel change. They could come up with a political response that Sam was great and it was a hard decision but we needed to bring back Greg because we missed him. I agree that refusing to watch the wiggles because how Sam was treated is stupid.

People get fired all the time when contracts end. Contracts end! Thats what they do! It was a quick and sudden change. Mighta been nice to ease the public back in and watch how they gave this news to the public. They did a better job when the 3 wiggles left together of prepping the kids for the new show, still hard to watch the newer wiggles and not wish it was the originals. Also worth pointing out is sam was not the first wiggle to go, or even the second. Philip was first to leave followed by greg then sam. He was 3rd! So hardly new.
There's been other interviews since Richard Wilkens The Boys are opting to discuss very little about The Business Side of Things. They prefer to use the limited interview time to break out musically with The Hot Potatoe Hot Potatoe so as to avoid any kind of questioning or grilling over what happened to Sam Moran. It's better that they handle themselves in this kind of way to keep Their Fans (The Kids) Happy and to not set a poor example explaining Wiggles Politics.
What kind of questions did they think would be asked? Very politician-like in the responses. Carrying on about "the energy" is NOT answering the question. The public will most probably make very damning conclusions and the Wiggles may have sealed their own fate by just not being frank and honest. All the years they've been publicised as this caring bunch - Anthony give the impression none of the band were even present when Sam was sacked/dismissed.
I was glad Greg returned, as a huge fan growing up. But I could sense in this interview that they were not being entirely truthful on whatever it was that led to Sam’s departure, were sadly and unintentionally ultra-harsh with their words, and they were very uncomfortable explaining the situation. I get it…Greg was the original star and it would make sense for him to return when he got his health back…but they should have been more diplomatic and, while not disclosing everything from behind the scenes, helped us comprehend that, in their view, they couldn’t keep Sam if they wanted to grow with a new generation of Wiggles, even if you could make the argument of having Sam be on hiatus until Greg retired again. Instead of the alleged embellishment by them that Sam brought up, the Wiggles should have explained that they had to do different things, while acknowledging that Sam was valid and appreciated for his help. In this interview, they definitely didn’t give Sam the appreciation he deserved after working with them for a very long time. I get that they have a business to run and business involves major changes that alter relationships for good and bad. But Sam got a raw deal and, if they didn’t want him back and if I were in their shoes I would have made sure Sam got a way better severance package. And not openly used those words on television. He did more than the hired hand and a job.

Sam, however, has implied heavily that he has a different perspective and I’m sure the only reason why he hasn’t shared it is because of legal stuff regarding his contractual deal with the Wiggles at the time. And Anthony, in this interview, seemed nervous about it when explaining the Wiggles’ situation. It’s not our place to know what exactly happened, but I don’t believe Sam was a hired hand. He did far more for the group when they were in a bad spot without Greg. I think what Anthony should have said, that would have been more diplomatic was something like this: “Sam did good for us. His contract ended, and while we could have renewed it and put him on hiatus until Greg was finished with his service to our brand, we decided, as a group, that we couldn’t go forward with him any longer. Nothing against him personally, but we run a huge global business and Sam’s services weren’t going to work for the Wiggles as we are preparing for potential new singers for our group for the next generation. We wish Sam the best and thank him for his services. We will make sure that he has his royalties and the studio for his own projects. That is the best we can do for him.” I think if they worded it along those lines, there wouldn’t be any controversy and Sam would have been not as disappointed about his treatment as he was. Just my opinion.
@@r-urelentlessandunstoppable Well after 12 years, Annthony admited the truth of Sam's exit in his memoir (partly) To make it short, The Wiggles were bad in debt and couldn't keep Sam on as The Yellow Wiggle. When Greg returned, he was only supposed to help bring the group back on track financially. Then the media pounded the Wiggles on the switch-up and put them in a negative light. He failed to mention that he signed an NDA from talking about it or Sam finding out the day before the annoucement or the many ways they've tried to spin this over the years. But the Wiggles were "just saving their company" 🙄

they asked him back greg did not get on the phone to anthony and ask him to be back in. and why on earth would you say sams carrear is over. sam will be doing other things in that indistry like maybe another solo album or even a childrens tv show. simon i am guessing you belive the media. as i said greg did not push his way back in the group they asked him back. and no sam was not fired they could not come to an agrement on his contract so they went there diffrent ways.

My kids grew up with Sam after they fired him on sams daughter birthday no less, when he was on vacation. I was happy enough to never play them in my house again.
This change will not affect the mental health of children world-wide, however, some parents' overreactions and harsh opinions are being quietly observed by their children. Use this opportunity to teach your children the coping skills to adapt to change and they will grow up to be well balanced adults that can handle stressful situations. Besides, all kids eventually outgrow The Wiggles obsession anyway. At the end of the day, all entertainers under a contract know it's not going to be forever.
There were 5 Wiggles in 89. They could have made Sam a Green Wiggle. This interview sums up modern Australia = cash grabbing pigs and bugger everyone else. Greg lost his fortune and jumped back for the money. So Sam is "just an employee". Expendable when it suits them. Well as I said...a lot of modern Australian business is like this.
Fancy performing that closely with someone for five years, they get dumped and you don't bother to speak to them. That is atrocious behaviour by anyone's standards. Lucky for me, my kids stop watching the wiggles. I am so disappointed in the way they treated Sam. I loved Greg but the way this was handled was way out of line, all in the name og greed i believe.

Honestly I could care less about Sam I grew up with Greg and I didn't even know that he left until I saw a video of Sam singing toot toot chugga chugga Big Red Car and I was like who the hell is this guy and where's Greg? But I kept watching just to see where it would go and he did better then I expected but then when Greg came back I just didn't care about Sam anymore and I was so happy that Greg was back as the yellow wiggle. If the Sam era was your favorite I respect your opinion and I would rather have him over Emma.

@medislamara Sam had a very reasonable belief his contract would be renewed again, that's why they gave him some compensation for the lack of notice. The behaviour of the employer in this instance looks bad indeed.
Have a 9 year old, who I saw the Wiggles twice with, and a 5 year old who has never seen them. They weren't the same with Sam, and I am so happy and ecstatic that Greg is back! Going to see them this summer, for the first time in 6 years, with my littlest one and CANNOT wait!

Why didn't they just tell the truth? We couldn't afford Sam anymore. When Greg left we had to pay him millions of dollars and we were pretty much broke. We didn't renew Sam's contract because we couldn't afford him. Greg coming back was never meant to be long term but a short term fix till they could find another yellow wiggle.

@dennisandvicki Completely agee Dennis. It seems to me that the "Greg" fans are the parents of the kids that grew up with Greg. The Wiggles have completely misread this wave of sympathy for Greg to mean "everyone" wants Greg back and Sam out. From DVD's and cable shows with Sam in aI guage that my kid loves Sam. DVD's being complilations on occasions show Greg as well. Personally I can see that Sam offers more and really revitalised a tired act. A Green Wiggle shirt was the least he deserved.

I do not like Emma, never have never will, but I’m not gonna go out of my way to be mean to her. She is very talented, but she’s just not for me in terms of my entertainment. I much prefer Greg or Sam over her because they fit better as the yellow wiggle. And as for who I would rather have between Jeff and Lachy, between Greg or Sam, and between Murray and Simon, it depends on the day, but Greg, Murray, and Jeff will always be my first preferences.

Anthony was clearly not a fan of Sam's...there always seemed to be tension between them. The handling of Sam's departure was sad and I personally think it was Anthony's pleasure to get rid of him. Sad, as my daughter grew up watching both lineups and we were partial to Sam. A little side note, I portrayed Sam in a Tribute to The Wiggles in New England from 2009 to 2012 and even met Mr. Moran, who was nothing but polite and a true gentleman
I always felt Anthony took Greg’s original departure much more personally compared to Murray and Jeff. Especially considering Greg was there from the very beginning and was a founding member of the group. I understand why he may have felt some tension when Sam was bought on board.
I was sad to see Greg leave the first time (even though I was 10 and clearly outgrown my Wiggles phase) but from what I saw, Sam proved himself to be a worthy addition and a good replacement. He was exactly what the group needed during such a difficult time.
However, I still maintain Sam’s departure was handled awfully and a very poor business decision. I believe they should’ve least told Sam well in advance that the decision was made to have Greg return and Sam would graciously step aside to let Greg return as the OG yellow wiggle. Why wait until his contract ended? I don’t get it?
The transition from Sam to back to Greg also could have had some more time thought out to ease things in. Compared to the first transition from Greg to Sam, it was very rushed and very unprepared. Suddenly, children who grew up on the Sam era were confused on why the OG yellow Wiggle was back without any sense of build up.
It was very clear from this interview that Anthony, nor even the rest of the Wiggles, were prepared for the backlash and it shows. Greg thankfully did his best to not make the situation awkward but Anthony just stumbled. And you don’t agree with the interviewee that your former colleague was a “Hired Hand”. How extremely harsh.
However, I do think later on, The Wiggles clearly regretted the way they treated Sam during this time. As their manager went on to explain that they should have handled things much better than what eventually happens.
Overall. The Wiggles could have found a better way to have Sam leave and Greg return. But it was badly handled and badly thought out. They were very unprofessional with their treatment of Sam, as well as the nature of his departure.

It’s not like they expected Greg to be the one to leave first especially since he’s the youngest. Did you not see Anthony’s reaction towards Greg fainting during that reunion earlier this year? That says it all right there. Why wouldn’t Anthony take it personally.

The Wiggles asked Greg to return temporarily from January--August 2012 to transition from Sam to Simon. Then Jeff and Murray chose to leave in 2012, so they asked Greg to extend his stay so he could leave with them

It's probably both. In 2010, Anthony felt that Sam was leaving because Sam did some occasional solo performances and released his first solo album. That was what caused creative differences between Anthony and Sam. Sam said that he didn't know that Greg was returning temporarily to replace him until the day before it was announced. Greg was asked to return temporarily for 8 months to help transition from Sam to Simon. Then Jeff & Murray decided to leave in 2012, so they asked Greg to extend his stay so he could leave alongside them. In the band's documentary that came out recently, Anthony said that he wasn't involved in a conversation with Jeff or Murray about them leaving and Jeff & Murray made the decision to leave without him knowing.

When Greg came back, Jeff & Murray hadn’t made the decision to retire yet. Simon was originally to take over the role of yellow in August 2012, with Greg holding the role to transition into another new Wiggle.

Obviously, the Wiggles recovered from this, and very well; the new team after Greg, Muarry, and Jeff retired have been doing fabulously well, so it's obvious they learned how to handle transitions better (making Emma, Lachy, and Simon Wiggles in Training for concerts was a brilliant move, and gave the kids time to see them in action.)
Here's what's wierd about this whole thing though:
If the intention, as I read it when this whole thing went down, was to welcome Greg back if/when he recovered enough to do so...why did you give Sam the yellow T-shirt? Why didn't you give him a new color, such as orange, and make it clear in a video or episode that hopefully Greg would be coming back later, or at least, give the character the option to do so?
Blue's Clues did this brilliantly; they sent the character of Steve off to college, and were sure to get the impression that Joe, Steve's brother, was just watching things..keeping things running as usual for when/if he decided to come back. Now, of course, Steve has not come back yet, but greg did, and it led to this awkwardness from the Wiggles. IF they had given him a new color, and gave the impression that Greg might return later, like, maybe, I dunno, sending him to a magician school or something, there might not have been any backlash to deal with,
Now, for those who say, "But, they couldn't have harped on Greg returning, that wouldv'e made the show too sad for Greg fans!" True, except....Blue's Clues didn't harp on Steve being away either. In Joe's entire two season tenure, Steve is mentioned twice outside of his departure episode; once when he comes back to co-host the 100th episode, and once on the phone for a holiday special. Aside from that, never mentioned while Joe's there..and why should they mention him? Joe has this well in hand. :) The Wiggles could have handled it the same way.

Here's how it should've been handled.
Greg should have been in a costume, and the other Wiggles go on some kind of adventure only to discover that Sam had secretly switched places with greg for all of that time. And then given it a happy ending where Sam ends up back in a costume and Greg takes back the yellow skivvy so that the 4 wiggles can go on together as the group originally was, and after that, pretend that Sam is in the costume whether he's there or not, or even make it appear that it was all a dream or something.

Why did terminate same completely. He’s been with the Wiggles since 2002. He was Greg’s understudy. Before he was the official new Yellow Wiggle, he filled in for Greg more than a 150 times. Sam deserves a lot better than this.

My grandson was able to see this show in person and at the meet and greet prior to the shows. Greg was good - but Sam was just as good, maybe a little better. Incredulous that Sam worked so long with them and, in particular, Anthony seems to have little knowledge about Sam's feelings - much less any respect toward what he contributed to the shows. How sad that this group handled this so poorly!

People say Anto fumbled this interview, but honestly, if he really did have "nothing to do with it" (as he claims in the clip), then what else more could he say? He was clearly caught off-guard---and if he "had nothing to do with it", then that's hardly surprising. It's ridiculous how people pin the whole Sam situation on Anthony, when the reality is that it had to be far more complex than that. (After all, Anto doesn't have executive veto power in The Wiggles' brand.)
You have a point. Anthony Field may be a founding member of The Wiggles, but I don't think he has all the exec power (especially in branding).
I know it's difficult and the situation could've been handled better, but we need to respect people's decisions (sometimes). As audiences, we may never know exactly what happened behind the scenes. That's the reality of showbiz after all.

This interview was featured in the new Wiggles documentary. What really happened was Greg was coming back because Sam wasn't going to continue on but it didn't come across that way in the media and the story became Greg wanted back in and kicked Sam out and that wasn't true. So it ended up a big mess with lot's of miscommunication etc. Even though I was happy that Greg came back I look at it now and I really felt for them at that time 💛💙❤💜

Am I the only one who thinks that the guys were put in an awkward situation... Of course they would have the decency to talk to Sam. It all happened so fast and they were not expecting to be bombarded with all these questions, therefore weren't sure of what was happening with Sam. Jeff and Anthony put themselves in this awkward position live on TV. Last I read Anthony, Paul, Jeff and Murray all owned the wiggles brand at the time. They made the decision to fire Sam, which is there right. However they were not prepared to answer for their personnel change. They could come up with a political response that Sam was great and it was a hard decision but we needed to bring back Greg because we missed him. I agree that refusing to watch the wiggles because how Sam was treated is stupid.

People get fired all the time when contracts end. Contracts end! Thats what they do! It was a quick and sudden change. Mighta been nice to ease the public back in and watch how they gave this news to the public. They did a better job when the 3 wiggles left together of prepping the kids for the new show, still hard to watch the newer wiggles and not wish it was the originals.
Also worth pointing out is sam was not the first wiggle to go, or even the second. Philip was first to leave followed by greg then sam. He was 3rd! So hardly new.

They prefer to use the limited interview time to break out musically with The Hot Potatoe Hot Potatoe so as to avoid any kind of questioning or grilling over what happened to Sam Moran.
It's better that they handle themselves in this kind of way to keep Their Fans (The Kids) Happy and to not set a poor example explaining Wiggles Politics.
What kind of questions did they think would be asked? Very politician-like in the responses. Carrying on about "the energy" is NOT answering the question. The public will most probably make very damning conclusions and the Wiggles may have sealed their own fate by just not being frank and honest. All the years they've been publicised as this caring bunch - Anthony give the impression none of the band were even present when Sam was sacked/dismissed.
I was glad Greg returned, as a huge fan growing up. But I could sense in this interview that they were not being entirely truthful on whatever it was that led to Sam’s departure, were sadly and unintentionally ultra-harsh with their words, and they were very uncomfortable explaining the situation. I get it…Greg was the original star and it would make sense for him to return when he got his health back…but they should have been more diplomatic and, while not disclosing everything from behind the scenes, helped us comprehend that, in their view, they couldn’t keep Sam if they wanted to grow with a new generation of Wiggles, even if you could make the argument of having Sam be on hiatus until Greg retired again. Instead of the alleged embellishment by them that Sam brought up, the Wiggles should have explained that they had to do different things, while acknowledging that Sam was valid and appreciated for his help. In this interview, they definitely didn’t give Sam the appreciation he deserved after working with them for a very long time. I get that they have a business to run and business involves major changes that alter relationships for good and bad. But Sam got a raw deal and, if they didn’t want him back and if I were in their shoes I would have made sure Sam got a way better severance package. And not openly used those words on television. He did more than the hired hand and a job.

And Anthony, in this interview, seemed nervous about it when explaining the Wiggles’ situation. It’s not our place to know what exactly happened, but I don’t believe Sam was a hired hand. He did far more for the group when they were in a bad spot without Greg. I think what Anthony should have said, that would have been more diplomatic was something like this:
“Sam did good for us. His contract ended, and while we could have renewed it and put him on hiatus until Greg was finished with his service to our brand, we decided, as a group, that we couldn’t go forward with him any longer. Nothing against him personally, but we run a huge global business and Sam’s services weren’t going to work for the Wiggles as we are preparing for potential new singers for our group for the next generation. We wish Sam the best and thank him for his services. We will make sure that he has his royalties and the studio for his own projects. That is the best we can do for him.”
I think if they worded it along those lines, there wouldn’t be any controversy and Sam would have been not as disappointed about his treatment as he was. Just my opinion.

To make it short, The Wiggles were bad in debt and couldn't keep Sam on as The Yellow Wiggle. When Greg returned, he was only supposed to help bring the group back on track financially. Then the media pounded the Wiggles on the switch-up and put them in a negative light.

My kids grew up with Sam after they fired him on sams daughter birthday no less, when he was on vacation. I was happy enough to never play them in my house again.

Lucky for me, my kids stop watching the wiggles. I am so disappointed in the way they treated Sam. I loved Greg but the way this was handled was way out of line, all in the name og greed i believe.

Honestly I could care less about Sam I grew up with Greg and I didn't even know that he left until I saw a video of Sam singing toot toot chugga chugga Big Red Car and I was like who the hell is this guy and where's Greg? But I kept watching just to see where it would go and he did better then I expected but then when Greg came back I just didn't care about Sam anymore and I was so happy that Greg was back as the yellow wiggle. If the Sam era was your favorite I respect your opinion and I would rather have him over Emma.
Shane Walsh I completely agree with u. I grew up with Greg and he was amazing. I got used to Sam but when Greg came back it was awesome but he sadly wasn't as energetic as he used to. Btw I agree with the last part, I would take Sam over Emma any day!

@medislamara Sam had a very reasonable belief his contract would be renewed again, that's why they gave him some compensation for the lack of notice. The behaviour of the employer in this instance looks bad indeed.
Have a 9 year old, who I saw the Wiggles twice with, and a 5 year old who has never seen them.
They weren't the same with Sam, and I am so happy and ecstatic that Greg is back!

Why didn't they just tell the truth? We couldn't afford Sam anymore. When Greg left we had to pay him millions of dollars and we were pretty much broke. We didn't renew Sam's contract because we couldn't afford him. Greg coming back was never meant to be long term but a short term fix till they could find another yellow wiggle.
@neishy3 The Wiggles are a brand. Sam's contract came up. They chose not to renew it. Children will accept it if their parents do. Anthony was genuinely puzzled which just means that he hadn't been coached. This kind of hysteria is infantile. I'd be more concerned with the morons who accuse Anthony of lying. You'd have to ask yourself what kinds of parents they are.

@dennisandvicki Completely agee Dennis. It seems to me that the "Greg" fans are the parents of the kids that grew up with Greg. The Wiggles have completely misread this wave of sympathy for Greg to mean "everyone" wants Greg back and Sam out. From DVD's and cable shows with Sam in aI guage that my kid loves Sam. DVD's being complilations on occasions show Greg as well. Personally I can see that Sam offers more and really revitalised a tired act. A Green Wiggle shirt was the least he deserved.

There are lots of people who grew up with sam (including me) so changing the wiggle changed the show for me and a lot of kids my age
I know these guys are getting old, looking at Greg he's aged a fair bit since I remember him, and there will come a day in the next couple years where they will all get replaced, (Hi-5 did) and I will accept that, but I don't think anyone should be shitty that Sam left because the Wiggles were the Wiggles with Greg. Amen to that!
