      Thank you!! It is a fine line applicator bottle with Gamsol in it, not water, this is oil and cold wax painting.👩‍🎨

    What do you apply as a final topcoat and how do you finish your edges? Did you have those taped? Thank you for sharing your expertise on the beauty of layering and creating so much depth.

    • @LisaBBoardwine
      @LisaBBoardwine  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Becky, I usually don't apply a final "varnish", however, if I want a certain work to be a little more shiny or glossy, I wait until the work is completely dry then apply a coat a clear cold wax. You can then buff it to achieve a sheen. I prefer to leave my edges natural. These edges were taped, to protect the wood so when you are finished with the painting you peel the tape, attach a hanger and it is ready to go!! Thanks so much for watching and for your questions!!

    Another remarkable piece. The technique you use with Oil and Wax can be use with Acrylic also?.If yes I should spray water instead of Gamsol to remove some of the paint?. Thanks in advance and continue this beautiful work.

      Eduardo, Yes you can use the same tools for acrylic paintings, but not mixing the wax into the paints. But use water or alcohol in a spray bottle for acrylics. Thank you for watching!!

    Again, great work Lisa. The pigment sticks are a good resource and you use them wisely.
    I'm interested in your finishing. When this, and others, completely dry, will you leave them in their matt state? or, dare I say, varnish some? Many thanks, and keep the fantastic work up.

      Thank you very much! The R&F pigment sticks are amazing! When my pieces are completely dry I usually let them be! If I do any type of "varnish", I occasionally cover the painting with a layer of clear cold wax. Then you can gently buff it -if you want a soft sheen.

    I have a painting I started in acrylics. It is dry, but I want to rework it. Can you add the oil and cold wax over the acrylics? Thanks so much for all your great tips. Love your videos.

      Mary Mary, thanks for watching! And yes, you can definitely add Oil/ColdWax over acrylics, but not acrylics over oils! It is a fun way to use oil and CWM!

    Another great one. Have you found pigment sticks other than Alizarin Orange that work well for glazing to pull the painting together like the one in the video?

    • @LisaBBoardwine
      @LisaBBoardwine  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Laura, thanks so much! There are many R&F pigment sticks that can be used as a glaze. Find a color you love and try it! They can be orange, red, brownish, greenish, etc.. just whatever color tone you are looking for! So many to choose from!

    Hi Lisa, thanks for sharing it's beautiful. I wanted to try the oil sticks before but told at the store that they don't dry ever, so how to avoid Amira than?

    • @LisaBBoardwine
      @LisaBBoardwine  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The oil pigment sticks do dry, but since they do t contain as much beeswax as what we mix into our oils on our palette, they will take a little longer to dry, but they will dry! The oil pastels have a binder in them that never dries so only use those on the top layer so air can get to them! Hope this helps!

    Lisa, I recently discovered your channel and I am hooked, thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience. I love the effect of the R&F pigment sticks. In order to get the glaze effect you get here, do you have to start with a wet WIP or do you wait until it is dry to then apply the pigment stick/glaze?

    • @LisaBBoardwine
      @LisaBBoardwine  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dori, Thanks so much for watching my channel!! You can use the R&F oil pigment sticks at any time throughout your painting. They do have less beeswax in them than what we mix with our paint on the palette, so they do take a bit longer to dry. But they are luscious!!

    Thanks for the demo of a translucent layer to unify a painting. I have been using an opaque layer, but see what more can be done with a translucent one. Always benefit from watching your videos. Can't wait for an AOC workshop with you!
