      Bought my 1025R new and had it for 2 years before I finally found a set of used pallet forks. They were a game changer and now they are on my tractor as much or more than the bucket. Only regret is I didn't think about them when I purchased the tractor to get the financing. For my needs, a grapple would be handy now and then, but my forks are an everyday implement. Thanks for your videos and advise/point of view Courtney, I've learned lots from them!

      Thank you so much for your honest videos. I don’t have a tractor and I want one desperately because I’m a country boy living in the city. My wife says that I could be a great salesman. I was honestly trying to decide between the forks and the grapple if I ever had a tractor. Thank you for this. Also, your property is beautiful. Thanks for sharing all the info.

    The intro was hilarious. I have always recommended to anyone that is looking to get into a new tractor or even wanting to upgrade to get a set a pallet forks. As you stated the versatility is bar-none. You do not realize how often a set a forks can be utilized in just about any situation. The fork set fraction of the cost of grapple set up. My honest opinion when you buy always, always add a set of forks to the purchase, you will not regret it

    I have been clearing land and the grapple is beyond a game changer. You can lift logs to buck them, pull on clutter to rearrange the lay of trees, and of course move a lot of brush at once. I use my pallet forks all the time around the house. Keep an old pallet around and you have a platform to move stuff that you can put from the ground to 8 feet up. Saves a lot of back ache.

    Forks are the best first attachment to add. Grapples, if you're clearing land or doing that sort of work, for sure a good next choice, but a creative skilled operator can do a LOT with pallet forks.

    I use a quick-attach silage fork from Titan attachments as my pallet forks and poor man's grapple on my Kioti CK2610 HST. It works almost like a dozer blade as well. I even use it with the tines pointed down as a landscape rake when going in reverse. It's built like a tank! Spent about 5 or 6 hundred bucks on it and it's been worth every cent! I wish I had taken video of how much cedar and pine brush I've picked up in one lift. Amazingly versatile attachment!

    A huge factor I would think in choosing one over the other would be “Operator Ability”. If you are a sure enough gun slinger as an operator you would never need a grapple….. on the other hand if you are new to operating a tractor & loader I would say that a grapple would be a MUST HAVE IMPLEMENT! I have a two grapple buckets for my bobcat as well as for my 6430 JD and I honestly rarely use them. They are convenient sometimes, but most of the time the pallet forks or the four tine bale spears are my tool of choice. A lot of guys around me use a grapple for moving round bales, but they often drop bales and tear the netwrap. I have to agree, forks are definitely the best starting point.

    We really like our adjustable add a grapple by Precision manufacturing. It is built very stout. We bought ours from the dealer where bought our tractor from last year. They had never sold one before and they had to switch a hose and fitting because of the uniqueness of the design. I was glad that we paid a little extra to buy it from the dealership. This is a more advanced install for a DIY. The one for the bucket is much easier install so about anyone could do that one.
    The biggest thing on the adjustable add a grapple is to use a swivel fitting on the connector that is further out on the cylinder and have a hose long enough on the other connector so it can handle the highest setting when are dumping stuff in a pile. If you don't, the connector or hose can snap from the stress.

    • @GoodWorksTractors
      @GoodWorksTractors  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good info Jim. Definitely best to wait until you have the grapple on the tractor to size hoses properly.

    This is a good video - One thing that you could highlight to help others is not all grapples are the same. A buddy of mine has one that uses two cylinders and the teeth close through the jaws. Mine is a single cylinder and it closes to the points of the teeth. There are other nuances including his cost 3x times more. Huge difference that I didn't understand until I went to use mine.

    One other thing you can do to pallet forks is add anther pair of forks, for 4 tines. This is good for smaller rocks 4inch to 24 inches, lifts them in small piles without them spilling off to one side like when you have just 2 tines, plus leaving most of the dirt behind. Also useful for sod busting, digging into the ground and pulling up clumps of grass and weeds, with the spacing to let the lose dirt through, 4 tines gives you around 2 foot working width and is much more effective than 2 tines.

    Good comparison. I use forks, have no front hydraulics, and do 80% logging for a lumber mill. Many of my logs are at or over my lifting capacity so I’ll stick with forks. One thing that could tempt me to change would be if a grapple could be designed for a firewood use where it would secure the log throughout the entire process and the tines were spaced and constructed to aid in this without damaging the chainsaw.
