Hello, for VAG passat 1.9tdi 115. 1999 - 2001 it is the same maneuver;) I'm busy replacing the clutch disc, I used one of your videos. good work. thank you from Belgium
Hello, can you tell me what size and what kind of wrench I need to take off the return hose bolt on the steering rack (drivers side) @@AbsoluteRebuilds
Hi Great Video and explanation without unneccesary comments, Im performing the same Job on my Audi A4 2003 and have a Question. How many Bolts did you remove to the Steering Rack from Bottom and Below and what Tool you used? it seems to be a Torks or some similar Tool Thnaks for Feedback 🙂
About to do this as soon as my parts come in. Return hose to PS cooling hard pipe is toast. getting access to remove the old one is a royal pain .. on a V6 3.0. It is never easy to remove the Audi pinch bolt and I have had to remove the entire knuckle vice it, heat cool heat cool, drill and air hammer, creep oil over night and start again the next day.. it worked but it took a whole day. Well done on this repair.
I have a 97 A4 Quattro with the 2.8l, I'm hoping it will be a similar concept to this. I have a small seepage on the passenger side end seal thing, so I guess I'll just throw a new rack and pinion in. Totally a bummer, but oh well. I'm going to try running some stop leak in for a couple weeks and see if it improves it.
I have a A4 B7 FSI quattro V6 3.2 2005, can anyone tell me how I will get to the third bolt so I can loosen the rack. Its not visible from underneath.According to the manual I have to remove the heatshield. But I've also read somewhere that it wasnt nessesary to do that.Does anyone know?

Der möchtegern Profi lässt solche Details aus.
This is really one straight forward video of the process which is absolutely perfect! Keep up the good work!
Gran trabajo. Excelente video. Gracias

What power steering fluid are you using? Audi Mineral Oil is green in color.
That's what I noticed also and that's gonna be the end of that steering rack in 6 months or less
Fantastic video. I am considering a used A6 with this problem.

Why didn't you use the right power steering fluid?
Hey know this is 2 year old video but did you have to swap the servo valve when replacing the rack to the new that you put on ?
Fluid for that car should be GREEN!
Not really...
I actually don't think the CHF 202 mineral oil has much color

My young son barely got an A4 turbo, the pinion racks need to be replaced, what special tools are required for this procedure?
Useful, thank you

Did you find out how? I have same question.
Have the same issue with my A4 B5 right now. It's leaking like a bitch from the right side, seeping fluid from the boot.
I bet you didn't put correct steering fluid in the system :/
