    Like a kid in a candy store on this one. Most of my training was adapted from GZCL prior to working with Alex. It made a lot of sense for strongman and seemed like it was ahead of its time on incorporating autoregulation with weights being based on the day's ability to perform. Happy to see the two biggest influence on my training style for the past 7 years together.

      @@dickofthesheep Maybe not indefinitely. But I do know that many people have ran it for a long time, like a few years. This works because the volume progression from triples, to doubles, to singles, then resetting back to a percentage of a new 5RM. J&T 2.0 was a huge bridge in my mind between the starting strength world of monotony to the hyper changing world of westside. It's perfect for trying out new things that work, building work capacity, and getting strong on main base movements. Bromley and Cody agree on building out the BASE of the pyramid. I started like 8 years ago with Strong lift 5x5 it was simple, starting with empty barbell, but after a while i hit a plateau and fell into overtraining and dropped the Barbell.
    I recently got back to doing weight lifting but started with bodyweight exercises then did splits to work my upper body, but i missed functional strength so did 5/3/1 but i did mistakes in calculating weights and ended feeling my quads sore for 4 days and missed many days, I'm thinking about switching to GZCL

    I love the discussion about balancing consistent disciplined training with variety and flexibility in your approach. I think the key variable here is body awareness though. Most beginners and probably a lot of intermediates don’t know their body well enough to ensure they are achieving progressive overload or recognize how much work they need to do without a structured program.
    My solution for myself has been to be as consistent as I can within my programs but to cycle through different styles of programs over time in an intentional way to learn how my body responds. I’m finally getting confident enough now to run some of my own experiments and its working great.
    But you have to be patient. Easy enough for me since I have no interest in competing but I suppose harder for a young guy eager to get out on the platform/stage/field/etc.

    • @GZCL
      @GZCL 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Definitely important to consider how one moves through various phases of their training, determined by goals, and what is needed to actually achieve them. Randomness for the sake of variety is not necessarily a good thing.

    Would love to see Boris Sheiko on here someday. I think you should have Robert Frederick on. He designed an app a few years ago called "Sheiko Gold" working with Boris and is still constantly fixing it up and adding new features. Robert is a very knowledgeable individual and I'd bet you could get down into the weeds with him.

    • @shaun_seow
      @shaun_seow 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Boris Sheiko recently dissociated himself from Sheiko Gold app a few months ago. Think he had a major fallout with the app creator. Wonder what is the story there.

    • @dumbass0621
      @dumbass0621 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@shaun_seow It's still Sheiko's work and it wasn't a major fallout. If you look through the facebook group Robert responded to a post asking about it saying that there's pretty much nothing weird going on between the two of them and he thinks that Boris's social media guy is upset possibly because Robert ran ads for the app in Russia accidentally.

    • @JakeS909

      That's kinda the thesis of Cody's training methodology. He has trained for over 5 years without a rest day. If you're using a traditional training method, you'd tend to be used to doing back work once or twice a week with high volume and intensity. Those are variables that can be manipulated. You can split the volume and intensity over the four days of the week and get similar (maybe better) results.
