Every performer here is so in command of their technique and so dedicated to listening to each other. I've thought about this performance every day since Monday's initial performance. Strickland's usage of 'Tranes shadings then adding his own was so satisfying.
Emmet's Place 'jam'-packed with incredible musicians who all fit into that small space because, despite possessing such greatness, they left egos behind and focused on listening to each other in order to bless us with their joyful sound.
Maaan, that basser is aint no joke ...its incredible how he can stick to that great time for that much period of time Ultimate Respect..! Sax is also lovely modern but melodic so soo much!!!!
Fantastic playing with great respect for the tradition and some really creative contemporary interaction and vocabulary. So pleased to find this on TH-cam!
Delightful to see another, younger generation of colorful jazz musicians. Inspiring to myself as my journey with music and the saxophones continues after 6 years of not playing anything!
Jeeez this is cooking like a jambalaya laced with tiger prawns and scotch bonnets. Just when you think it's hot enough, Emmet Cohen comes in and blows your face off leaving you reaching for a second helping of that gourmet dish
All are masterful and original. Horn player is channeling Dolphy with his modal game. Drummer is a listener which is the highest compliment a drummer can earn!
This is so live. So tight. So masterful. There is no one who's not a Savage in this room. Emmett Cohen, take a bow. What an attack. What percussivity. What a gorgeous left hand. You really make that piano chime.
Great tenor and droms duet with both those basses…. Wow! It inspired Emmett started off hard trmpo actually wet up a bit kyle superb !How is trumper gonna enter , … back to head!

The transition between the horn solos was so seamless it’s crazy
I LOVE seeing Christian McBride grin while the ‘kids’ play. The joy of hearing the young masters is obvious!❤️
Double basses on impressions - just like Coltrane did live
Hell yeah

Like Emmet Cohen's style laced with Mc.Coy Tyner voicings in context....He is so f....creative
Lot of McCoy in that .... yeah true
Damn. We need more jazz like THIS.
Giveton Gelin has a very sweet tone. One of the freshest trumpet tones I’ve heard in some time!
This must be what they call double bass! :)
Top as usual

This is the beauty of jazz musicians, not the rock-pop-ego star ....
This is what we need in society!!! And we sure don’t have it right now in this country

Of course, it's Christian McBride! Russell Hall plays great too.
These musicians. The future of jazz. Its in good hands!
Today's jazz musicians are techno wizzards spit polishing the works of the great innovators of yesteryear.
Alive and kicking!
Emmet Kyle and Russell are a single instrument 🔥
Philip Norris is one bad “mo fo” great time, great sound, great solos. Every time I listen to him it’s a master class.
Phillip Norris is not playing here. It’s Christian McBride and Russel Hall.
However, I totally agree Phillip Norris is a beast!
Wow…Kyle,Russel…wow
Fantastic playing with great respect for the tradition and some really creative contemporary interaction and vocabulary. So pleased to find this on TH-cam!
마커스 스트릭랜드 이분 대단하시네!! 간만에 에너지 넘치는 그리고 머리가 아닌 가슴에서 나오는 연주를 들었다 ㅠ

Hell yeah... Bop up it hard and swing it 🔥🔥🔥.. Mr Mcbride, I see you Sir. Emmet always got wild cats on his stage. "Double bass" in deed. Jazz wild!
Amazing performance !! What an outstanding trumpet solo ! Thanks for sharing this 🙏🏻🔥
That drummer's no joke!
This is why I love jazz !!! ❤️
You can tell the trumpet player has transcribed and listened to a lot of Roy Hargrove, listen to 1:00 and he plays a Roy lick.
And very interesting harmonic choices. Tastefully expressed like Roy
he was mentored by Roy before he passed.
@@emmywillow6599 nice, that explains it, I really like this guy, I’ll have to look him up, he’s a dope cat
My God!! They brought the heat!!
this rendition of impressions is too good! Great performance 👏
