Loved aspects of this show, great to have the gang back together! but I think that is absolutely a criticism of Ashoka, It relies wayy too heavily on it's audience having watched all previous shows and movies to be understood :( it needed to establish it's status quo, it's characters and the stakes in a way that casual fans can understand, Something I give Andor Massive props for doing very effectively! They could've started with an animated prologue, or some narration to fill in what happened in Rebels, Mando Etc, to give some framing to all the events that happen, Even me, as a fan who's seen all of these shows, I was hella confused to begin with! Looking forward to the Acolyte for sure though!
@@toberlorone01 while that is indeed a valid complaint of the show on its own, I find it cool that Ahsoka rewards those that have followed her entire journey throughout the three series
@@toberlorone01 Thing is, my brother whose NEVER watched any of the animated Star Wars shows, understood what was going on from the basic references and called back to Rebel.
Watching this series again makes me sad we'll never get to see Ray Stevenson in anything again. His portrayal of Baylan Skoll was one of the best things about the first season of "Ahsoka". RIP Ray Stevenson.
His death was awful in general; but in regard the show, Baylan's storyline was what I ended up being most interested in so that really sucked. Reaction or just on their own, I hope the Normies watch Rome
if you watch the interviews, the recent ones that Hayden, Christianson and the group the cast that did the series it's pretty interesting that Ray would bring objects from his walks, and they would incorporate it into his costume.. anyway, rest in peace
Yeah and he later joined the Lothal Insurgency and was with them in Season 4. I wish Dante Basco had played him here since it was just a cameo and he looks much younger than he is.
The end credits and the music for it are my absolute favourite. The end credits music combines the Ahsoka, Sabine and Hera themes. Kevin Kiner killed it as always.
Baylan was the most interesting and standout character for me when i watched the show. It's such a shame that there won't be continuance with the same actor.
Shin (or whatever her name is) was my favorite character in the series, even though she was basically completely silent. She was so obviously playing with Sabine in this fight.
Of course they got Clancy Brown. He's reprising his original role as the Governor's voice actor. I'm pretty sure he was also the Devaronian muscle in Mando s1's prison break episode. Also fairly certain he's done a lot of other voice work for the franchise, seem to recall him being Savage Opress.
Reason it took so long for Ahsoka was mainly because Filoni refused and turned down offers to do live as he was worried he wasn't able to do a live. He learned from Favreau and evently moved on to becoming CCO and effectively has a large enough say to produce the shows he want without having to jump through corporate hoops and hurdles
Also learned from Rian. He credits RJ as being the first person to really let him get a feel for live action stuff. Favreau then gave him the opportunity a few years later
@moabman6803 yeah I feel like the Rosario doesn't quite capture the nimbleness of Ahsoka, she is primarily a Form 5 user but she does move a bit like a form 4 user

George Lucas confirmed in _1981,_ which even I only found out about when this show started, that anyone can become force sensitive through teaching. If someone can devote themselves to it, have the discipline, they can use the Force. Most people don’t have that patience. And it seems Sabine was lacking. Sabine got stabbed in the side, not right through the spine, and other reasons why she doesn’t die and others survived worse Zeb was in Mando S3, not Book of Boba. Chris gaslit you Rana! 😝 Mary Elizabeth Winstead is also married to Ewan McGregor. So technically Hera has _two_ jedi under her belt Just because Ahsoka’s not officially a jedi doesn’t mean she’s not light side. Gray Jedi don’t work! I drank that Kool Aid too a while ago, but then I learned why it was wrong 😂
Gray Jedi doesn't mean they use the dark side, just that they operate outside the Jedi's moral code. EG they may execute a prisoner if they're considered dangerous or use deception and lies to achieve their goals. Or they may just oppose the Jedi's politics, like if a force user supported the Seperatists in the Clone Wars because they believe they have the right to leave the Republic.
@@tortoiseoflegends4466 if they operate outside jedi code then they aren’t a jedi, or shouldn’t be called one, gray or otherwise. I imagine they’re likely to be reprimanded so they can fix that behavior or get kicked out of the order. Maybe they’re not part of the order, but then they don’t exactly have a strong claim to calling themselves a type of jedi in that case. Even Ahsoka explicitly says she isn’t one, and doesn’t claim to be a different kind of one. Executing a prisoner feels pretty dark side. Torturing one is certainly conveyed to be (Anakin with Poggle). Why wouldn’t full on execution count? The jedi aren’t above using lies and deception to achieve their goals. Does the _jedi mind trick_ not count as that? _Yoda_ put on an act, or a lie/deception, to test Luke’s patience. The jedi may be allied with the republic but they try not to get involved with politics. Emphasis on try, they don’t do that good a job at it, especially in the prequel era. This was a factor in Dooku leaving the order, and thus no longer being a jedi, and neither claiming to be a different kind of jedi despite keeping his saber and being on good terms with the order for a while. So a jedi that supports the separatists would probably either leave the order to not be involved in the war, abstain from it (unlikely bc a jedi can’t just do nothing while lives are lost that could be saved), fight for the separatists in the war and get excommunicated from the order as a result, or fight for them after leaving the order, and thus have no claim to still calling themselves a jedi.
The issue with Sabine surviving is that we’ve seen that a lightsaber blade is heated. In Phantom Menace, Qui-Gon Jinn used his lightsaber to melt the doors of the Trade Federation ship. As such, when Sabine got stabbed, her insides should’ve been cooked. At the very least, they could’ve made it more clear that Sabine barely survived, possibly having some physical defect that affects her for the rest of her life.
@@knightmare5097 Qui Gon is one of the victims of a worse case! 😂 He actually got it through the spine! And he took minutes to die! Ahsoka got to Sabine not even 30 seconds after she got stabbed! And also, they _both_ had the sabers in them for roughly the same amount of time! About 3 seconds. So insides “should’ve been cooked” since Phantom Menace 🤷♂️
also they arent really sith, their lightsabers are not fully red and they have jedi robes, and the girl apprentice has the ponytail hair that jedi padawas have
Ahsoka season 1 is basically season 5 of Rebels, but live-action. The show has mixed reviews, but I think it's actually a pretty solid series. Adapting an animated series to live action can be hard to do. I will agree though that that pace is a bit slow, but OVERALL it's a pretty decent continuation of the Rebels story and sets up Ahsoka for future content.
There is an answer as to why there is a map to Thrawn's possible location, they tell you in future episodes. About Sabine being or not being Force sensitive, I always thought there was a chance, even before the Ahsoka series hinted at it. Remember the conversation between Hera and Kanan in season 3 of Rebels. Hera asks Kanan if he's being careful with Sabine's training (he didn't let her use the darksaber) because she didn't have the Force. Kanan answers "No, the Force resides in all living things, but you have to be open to it. Sabine is blocked, her mind is conflicted."
Spoiler That's exactly why I was able to accept her tapping into the force to that extent, at the end of the season. She's a smart person, and she's had plenty of training; that mental block was the only thing keeping her from utilizing said training.
She also heard the voices during the wolf-travel to the temple in season 4, while Zeb didn't. Filoni may have been leaving a door open for the prospective follow-up story.
21:31 the planet existed well before Thrawn was exiled there so there could always be maps there. It’s just a planet evidently lost to legend and myth, like how Chopper Base/Atollon was not on Imperial charts and Thrawn had to look into ancient maps from the region and intercept rebel transmissions to find it. Why Morgan believes Thrawn is on the planet lost to myth and legend, is a question left unanswered in this first episode.
Mickey your question about the map will be answered this is not a Rise of Skywalker scenario where a thousand year old sith dagger is able to chart the Death Star ruins from 30 years ago.
keep in mind that Rebels' finale aired in november of 2018, while this show was released on August of last year. The fandom had to wait almost 5 years to find out how the Rebels plot continues.
Everytime i see a reaction to this series, it blows my mind that absolutely no one understands the area around where Ahsoka is at the beginning is all basically black powder. The droids aren't the massive explosion, they ignite the powder.
The apprentice's character name is Shin Hati - the actress is Ivanna Sakhno. Leave it to Filoni to name his 2 darksde characters for the Ragnarok wolves whi eat the sun and the moon
"Tis only a Flesh Wound!" (A crispy... cooked... flesh wound) Everything you have seen on Thrawn is his PRELUDE story. His ACTUAL story, Heir to the Empire, has yet to come, and this is fast approaching the era when that happens.

Ray, Stevenson also voiced gar Saxon Star Wars rebels and the clone wars he was more second in command ,, die welt, Mandalorian ..lol but yes, the one that Sabine's mother kills
my first impressions for why they kept showing the helmet under the desk was because she had given it up. that's why its all packed up and pushed way to the back
Long, long ago, in a Galaxy far away... Chris already classified Ahsoka as DEAD, and that it was impossible for her to be in anything else in the future (During Rebels, actually). 😂 This should a fun watch 😂
the end credits shows of various planets such as Arcana, Lothal, Mandalore, cato nemodia, and courescant. (rockstar actually did a video with the translations of all the planets and writing that you can see on the end credits.)
DEF recommend going back and watching S2E5 of Mando to refresh your memories. Should fill in some gaps. Plus, as someone who ALSO went and watched Clone Wars and Rebels AFTER S2 of Mando, it's fun to watch and go, "Oooooh! NOW I get it it!"
People got mad she survived that, when they have a cat tanks than can cure you pretty decently, after Luke was mauled by a Wampa and was on deaths door and was in a backyard tank to cure himself. They should have just had her in the bacta tank. Then in a hospital bed.
This season is pretty hit and miss for a lot of people, but one thing everyone agrees on is that Baylan Skoll is the best part of the show; RIP Ray Stevenson. And it's also great seeing Huyang back again .
14:26 and so you get to the biggest problem of Ahsoka that all the beef between Ahsoka and Sabine happened completely offscreen. Newcomers to the franchise who didn’t watch Rebels probably figured it happened in Rebels.
16:58 I dont think there is much traffic on that road, considering it leads to the desert and nowhere else. Just going to an port and flying is easier on a planet like this.
Hera and Sabine's actors are the same voice actors from Rebels. The animators who worked on Rebels based the characters' appearances on their voice actors, so the actors were able to easily reprise their roles for this show (albeit with some makeup). NOW FOR MORE SPOILERY STUFF: Additionally, while getting stabbed with a lightsaber is very deadly, as you guy correctly pointed out, it is not necessarily lethal. It depends on where you get stabbed, how long the lightsaber is in you (because it's very hot), and how quickly you can get medical attention. Most characters in Star Wars die when they get stabbed because most lightsaber wielders go for the vital organs, and there isn't any medical attention close by, so people die from internal damage before anything can be done about it. In this situation, Sabine's wound was just below her lungs, thereby missing her vital organs, and Ashoka's ship was right next to her, so she had medical attention close by. It's still not fun to be stubbed by a lightsaber, but people can (and have) survived before.
I used to get Rosario Dawson mixed with the actress on “Firefly”, who was married to Lawrence Fishburne. Rosario Dawson was very good in the film “Rent”. It is a musical, so it might not be your thing.

the end credits shows of various planets such as Arcana, Lothal, Mandalore, cato nemodia, and courescant. (rockstar actually did a video with the translations of all the planets and writing that you can see on the end credits.)
20:29 Go watch what's his name Charlie Hobson I think is the channel, his Qui Gon Gin's reaction, Qui Gon was pissed!
After seeing live action Hera I see how much of a tragedy it was when kanan lost his eyesight.
Bacta was invented 30 seconds after Qui-Gon died…
Mary Elizabeth Winstead is married to Ewan Mcgregor!
It's weird to think that Obi-Wan is married to Hera! LOL
I loved this show :D
Love the Sublime shirt Rana 😄
This season is pretty hit and miss for a lot of people, but one thing everyone agrees on is that Baylan Skoll is the best part of the show; RIP Ray Stevenson. And it's also great seeing Huyang back again .
You're going to have to be patient with the questions. They all come by episode 8. And more....
Wow YOUR REACTING!
oh yeah this is why were not at Acolyte yet lol
I’m so glad you guys are finally watching this show. I hope you’ll also check out The Acolyte once this is over.
Personally, I'm hoping for Bad Batch next but Acolyte after that would be great!
Hera and Sabine's actors are the same voice actors from Rebels. The animators who worked on Rebels based the characters' appearances on their voice actors, so the actors were able to easily reprise their roles for this show (albeit with some makeup).
NOW FOR MORE SPOILERY STUFF:
Additionally, while getting stabbed with a lightsaber is very deadly, as you guy correctly pointed out, it is not necessarily lethal.
Marketa reads scrawls like she's a European dictator.
Lol.
I used to get Rosario Dawson mixed with the actress on “Firefly”, who was married to Lawrence Fishburne.
Rosario Dawson was very good in the film “Rent”. It is a musical, so it might not be your thing.
Fiiiiiinally! Let’s gooooooo!
Yeah David Tennet is the voice of Professor Huyang, or Dr. Hu for short haha
Even though this was filmed in the past, it's a pleasant surprise to see Micky on the couch.
ashoka was so good
5:02 actually that's a good guy ship
it's a Jedi shuttle from the Clone Wars
