    I loooove my Alto Mini! It fits perfectly on my mid height bed rack on my Tacoma. Drove up to the shop from the Springs, and they were awesome! Couldn't be happier with the tent and customer service from 4x4 CO.

      William thanks for sharing that. We really cannot wait to get out and use it. Unfortunately, my truck is on QC hold at the moment, but hopefully they'll release it soon. Where are your favorite places/areas to camp? What are your favorite thing about the mini?

      @BenInBeta Fingers crossed you get the truck soon!
      I have only slept in it a few times thus far (got it early January), but it's been a blast! As you saw, the setup is super easy. I love the LED light and the window on the hinge side of the tent. Plus, I intend on using it for a long time, so I am glad to have gone with the durable aluminum build from 4x4 CO. It's the exact same height as my Prinsu cab rack while sitting on the mid height bed rack. It looks good and is "aerodynamic" with the height. Despite the weight, I haven't dropped maybe 1 or 2 mpg.
      As far as camping, I've just ventured out along Old Stage up towards Cripple Creek so far!

      Thanks for sharing all that. Old Stage is on my list, we used our Tucson in the past and there's a lot of good spots on the trails off of Rampart Range Road too.

    I have a roofnest overland tent that Ive had every single problem possible with. Rust, leaking, mold, filling with water etc. Ive patched just about every gap with silicon and gotten rid of all the mold and replaced half the tent with new parts to get rid of the rust. Planning on getting one of these tents in the future when budget permits. Crazy a $4k tent would have such poor quality control compared to this one which is less costly

      WOW 🤯, really sorry to hear about all of those issues. That seems very frustrating. Roofnest was one of the tents I was highly considering until I went hands on at the expo. It seemed of much less quality than either the 4x4 or 23zero tents. I think when they started out at roofnest they were higher quality, then mass production may have changed that. But it's still crazy how high their prices are. Seems the rest of the market has come down since COVID highs. Thanks for watching and commenting!

    Did your tent come with an anti-condensation mat under the mattress?
    Did the 5-year warranty have any written documentation or was it just verbal?

      I'll find out in 2 weeks. I get it installed then and I'll have an update on everything then!

      @@BenInBeta I have learned that the anti-condensation mat is standard but still unsure of the written warranty. I am strongly considering the Alto Mini which I saw at Overland Expo West in Flagstaff in May 2023 months before they were available and I was very impressed. At that time, I was told the Mini would weigh 186 lbs. but it actually weighs 231 lbs. and I'm concerned that it might be too much (top heavy) for my 2012 Scion xB?

    • @BenInBeta
      @BenInBeta  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah that makes sense I was pretty sure they would be an anti condensation mat, but didn't want to get that wrong since they told me there would be one. It was 186 lbs when it first launched because it had an ABS shell, but in Colorado those don't hold up as well. So they switched to aluminum. It is heavy, and really your roof weight static and dynamic weights are what would determine if it's too heavy. That and the vehicles payload.

      @@BenInBeta I can't verify my roof load capacity. Scion was shut down by Toyota in 2016. There's nothing in my Owner's Manual and calling a Toyota dealership was useless. I had my car weighed on a certified truck scale and have about 600 lbs. of GVWR left. If I got any rooftop tent, it would stay on the car year-round as I live by myself and don't have a garage to set up a hoist. I read that an Alto Mini owner took 4 people to mount it!

      @@patrickio8084 I would say look at the 23zero armadillo X series as those use plastic shells or maybe something like what my friend Bryan got for his Jeep. The Intrepid Geo Series which is much lighter as well. Best of luck finding the right fit. I had the same issues when I asked Hyundai what the limits were on my Tucson!
