    Thank you for your soothing, atmospheric and informative swatching. Personally I'm a fan of PY129 for lamdscapes and have a couple of examples but I like the Roman Szmal version you show here. Thank you also for swatching on hot pressed paper too when you explore, sometimes the results are quite different.

      Thank you for your kind words! I really appreciate knowing that you found this video informative. PY129 is a staple on my palette due to its versatility. It offers sophistication for all sorts of themes -- botanical, landscape, and still life. Stunning on its own but it is also an incredible mixer. The pigments appear more pronounced on hot-pressed due to the nature of the surface. Swatching on both cold-pressed and hot-pressed offers us a clearer perspective and broader opportunities for color appreciation. Thank you for watching!

    thank you for mixing examples again! I have two green golds, they are nice colors and mixers, but I just don't know how to use them. I prefer nickel azo yellow. but you inspired me to experiment with green gold

    I don't like yellows in my palette, and when I put together my roman szmal palette I chose their deep green gold as my yellow, and I was nervous because I never tried it and it would be my only yellow but it worked wonderfully! It quickly became my favorite yellow paint 🥰 thank you for the comparison 💖

    T Y Stivi for showing PY129. I do not have it in my watercolor collection, as it's not one I think I would use. I have DS green gold, but have never used it. I really liked the diluted versions of all the brands you demonstrated. Your video was very helpful to me.I enjoy reading the comments, and I'll return to this video to read more of the opinions of others, and how they use PY129.

      Glad you enjoyed the video! The Comment section is one of the hallmarks of this channel. I love how we have our own community here where we contribute and learn. It has become a library of understanding what works for all our unique requirements. In light washes, PY129 has this distinctive glow that can't be found in other pigments. Its concentrated form is useful for landscapes and anything that requires atmospheric or moody elements. You're always welcome here! Thank you for watching!

    Another brilliant swatching vid! I wholeheartedly agree with you that the nomenclature in paints is a nightmare, especially for beginners, and I wish there was more standardization
    of names in watercolors (come to think of it, any paints). When I started painting, I was lucky to stumble upon Handprint and the Color of Art Pigment Database sites which cut through all of the confusion for me. As for PY129, I was surprised by how much alike they were, though there are subtle differences as well. I have the W&N Green Gold which is great for mixing autumn shades and sunsets, but I was captivated by the MH Green Gold on hot pressed paper as I love great texture. Roman Szmal has amazing luminance. As always I want them all!

    • @stiviwonders
      @stiviwonders  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! The differences are so subtle but they are there. All these PY129 options are excellent, it is hard to pick a favorite. I share the sentiment when it comes to Michael Harding's Green Gold. The "barely there" granulating texture offers a landscape of visual interest, adding an extra layer of color sophistication to what's already stunning. MaimeriBlu's PY129 is also a striking beauty.
      The orthodoxies of color organization do not exist in the pigment world. For those who are at the early stages of their journey, lack of standardization can be frustrating. Sometimes, this could demotivate people and drive them to walk away. That's one of the driving factors behind these video productions. Down the road, I will share the project that I am building where these videos will have an important role.

    I bought Roman Szmal Green Gold some time ago. I love the colour, but watching your video has made me aware of how different it is to deep green gold. I think there may be room on my palette for both colours

    • @stiviwonders
      @stiviwonders  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for sharing that! Both are wonderful and can be useful for a world of themes. I agree that there may be room for both on the palette. Green Gold can be used on its own while Deep Green Gold can be flexible since it can also be a mixing element. Thank you for watching! Happy to see you here.

    This is actually making me consider swapping my PY175 out for any of the PY129 for mixing purposes. Either that or I am just a pigment dragon wanting to hoard everything.

    • @stiviwonders
      @stiviwonders  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hahaha, that's hilarious! Please allow me to share. I have PY175 and I rarely use it. PY129 is high on my list for preferred yellow pigments. It offers radiance without being overwhelming. The light washes are wonderful and the heavier brushloads are so dramatic. Glad to have you here again, thank you!

    I LOVE my White Nights “Irgazin Yellow” PY129! It’s probably most similar to RS, with just a touch less green, perhaps more similar to Isaro…oh, ok..while it’s only PY129, RS’s green gold mix would actually be more like it…but I like it much more than my DS Rich green gold and my QOR; although I DO love some of the green mixes with those last 2. I do mostly landscapes, some floral and urban. I DID use my WN early today with PR122 for a sunset! I experimented with some of my other “usuals”, and maybe it was my PY93 (Yellow Sophie Sennelier) underpainting, but the whole deep orange/red/purple sunset just glowed so beautifully, I almost hated to put anything else in the painting! My daughter and her wife were at the “viral” sunset in Santa Cruz a few weeks ago and they took photos every few minutes; it looks surreal, ALL of the stages! I could never reproduce it exactly…but I’m really happy how it turned out! Our trees here in the Poconos are JUST starting to turn and I’m HOPING to catch it at its peak this year..my tiny town is in a valley between the hills and I THINK I convinced a local photographer to help me out by sending his drone up at the road coming into town..it’s the only way to get both sides of the hills, plus all the trees in town. Even if I can’t do it justice in a painting, he agreed, especially if we time it just right, it will be the perfect vantage for our “Winter Wonderland” in the Fall! (The song was actually written here in town). This will be my last year here…(not enough snow for this Florida Girl 😂), moving to Buffalo..but really to be with my younger daughter. She’s promised me PLENTY of breathtaking scenery, including, of course, Niagara Falls just 20min north of where they live.
    Time to get back to my paintings; I have a bunch I need to finish in the next week! Thank you for this; going to put Isaro and RS on my wish list!

      Thank you for this thoughtfully-composed message! I could visualize the imagery that you described when you used Sennelier's PY93. That's one of my favorite yellow pigments from them, along with PY153. Best wishes on your Buffalo move! I can envision you capturing postcard-perfect scenery and turning them into a painting series. You are right, the nature spread there is inexpressibly gorgeous! Thank you for being here!

      Thank you! It is my favorite time of the year (Autumn) and these mixes are my favorite ones to work with. You didn't mention your location but in the US, Rochester Art Supply and Blick offer the most competitive rates for Michael Harding and Sennelier. I've found some of their products to be priced lower than other commercial brands, especially Sennelier's 21ml tubes. It shocked me to discover this! The pigment performance of both Michael Harding and Sennelier is a great motivation for the financial investment required. They're phenomenal! It is difficult to choose a favorite.

      @@stiviwonders thank you for such inspiring and useful content, i really wait for your new videos❤ if it's okay to ask, maybe you will want to make a review for 1) kremer watercolor 2) comparison of different pr102 based paints or pigment power (for example Jackson has a lot of pr102 powder but they even don't have swatches from their own pigments :/) 3) yinmn blue - maybe you be interested in it too, DS and A Gallo have one in their pallets but, say, DS seems to be greener and a little bit dull in comparison with photos of original almost-glowing bright blue YINMN 4) yintico pink 😊😊😌😌😄😄

      @@feliciabalza7474 I appreciate your requests and I am happy to share that:
      1. Kremer and PR102 are on the list. I have a calendar of content production and these topics are listed on there.
      2. I have a lot of YinMn Blue in my collection and have been vacillating, whether it is worthy of featuring or not, since there are a lot of videos out there on it. My general thought on this is that I will at some point film a video on it but it will need to also establish real-world applications to justify the financial investment a pan or tube requires. This way, watercolorists could form a better appreciation for it.
      3. Here's my YInTiCo Red video, th-cam.com/video/9TR-bzZFbbM/w-d-xo.html
