It's all about the fatty alcohols, cationics, and silicones - yes!! This is why I love Aussie Moist and Keracare Humecto so much. They have all THREE. Love how you break this down, sis!!
Just a heads up to newer watchers; the Garnier honey line has been reformulated, and a lot of the "honey" ingredients have been replaced with plant and beeswaxes. Not sure if that makes a difference in performance or not, but just wanted to put that out there.
Good ingredients on a moisturizing conditioner: FATTY ALCOHOLS - Cetyl Alcohol, Cetearyl Alcohol and Stearyl Alcohol; CATIONICS - Behentrimonium Chloride, Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine, Behentrimonium Methosulfate; SILICONES - Amodimethicone, Dimethicone, Cyclopentasiloxane. Note: Silicones and Cationics are the best combo for a conditioner and Silicone Quaternium 26 happens to be a mixture of the two and is rly good for type 4 hair.
So glad I saw this video. Thank you Curly Chemistry! I went to Walmart yesterday (3-19-2022) and bought the Aussie, Garnier, and Suave conditioners you mentioned in this video. I washed my hair and applied each to three different sections of my hair. And let me tell you I loved them all. They had slip and my hair has never felt so soft and moisturized! I let my sister try all three and without telling each other what we thought we put them in the order that we liked and we both had the Garnier Whole Blends as our 1st choice for its creaminess, smell and of course the way it made our hair feel and look. I love the definition that I got from the Suave conditioner, which I was really surprised about. And of course you can’t go wrong with Aussie. My low po hair is looking and feeling great! ✨👏🏾🙌🏾
You just made me remember what actually worked for my hair. I use to use Suave shampoo and conditioner with keratin in it. It's so funny I was not trying to grow my hair and it grew so much.
I remember when tressemme Botanical released a conditioner that worked like a miracle for kinky hair but then they changed the ingredients and it didn't work as well. Idk why they do that to the great products
I love the crece pelo deep conditioner. It's not quite $5, more around $7 or $8 depending on where you buy it from, but it's an amazing conditioner. It has fatty, alcohols, BTMS, and PEG-Dimethicone (I forget the number attached to that ingredient but it is a water soluble silicone). The formula is thick and smells like baby powder. When my hair needs some serious tlc, I always reach for my crece pelo 💞
I am taking TREsemme anti-breakage conditioner. It has cetearyl alcohol, behentrimonium chloride and dimethicone all within the first 6 ingredients. I use if as a conditioner, deep conditioner and leave-in and a bottle lasts me a good amount of time. Absolutely Absolutely love this stuff.
The Suave Almond+ Shea butter Conditioner is cheap and amazing!!!!!! I never bought a conditioner with this much creamy slip! Easiest conditioner to comb on ur hair!
Hi, I am bringing my Giovanni 2 Chic Ultra Moist Deep Conditioner. I love this stuff. After using it, I don’t need to moisturize my hair for a whole week.
That explains why the Aussie moist works so well on my hair, and it's not expensive! Sooooo, I'm definitely taking the Aussie moist deep conditioner to my island.
The Trader Joe conditioner ieverything! It does contain dimethicone. I use it as a leave-in for my wash n go's. Bomb everytime 💣 I combo it with the African Pride Moisture Miracle Gel. My type 4 hair lasts 7+ days everytime!
I been using a similar garnier conditioner, it’s ginger & organic honey (it’s a brown bottle) it makes my hair so smooth and it smells really really good. My hair be very healthy! 😌🥰
I'd say Aussie moist deep conditioner would be my choice to take with to the island but now that I've seen this video.. I'm going to have to try the others 👍🏼 thank you so much for your time and info 😍

I literally searched your page for this topic last week! Thank you 🤩🥳 My hair likes the Shea Moisture Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Intensive Hydration Conditioner rn
Came back almost a week later to say I tried the Garnier Whole Blends conditioner. That is the best conditioner I have used in a while! My low porosity hair is finicky with products but it LOVED this conditioner. I’ll continue to use it to see how it works with longer use. Try it!!!
A year late, but do/did you have a bottle with the yellow label or the white one? They've reformulated and replaced all the honey ingredients with waxes, and I'm also low porosity and wanna try it out.
Do you recommend using the shampoos with these conditions? I always hear that it's recommended that the whole system is used, but if the shampoos are super stripping I don't want to use it. Thank as always for the amazing information.
I think right now my favorite deep conditioner is NIAN oat and aloe moisturizing conditioner. My hair loves this stuff. I also have Suave and Aussie conditioner here, yet I haven't tried them they are my affordable back-up gems 😀.
Hi Tonya. I just got on to say Thank you for your five conditioners. Sis I just tried the Garnier Whole Blend with honey, oh my goodness. The best. I am totally sticking with you. Sisters out there please listen to Tonya she’s no joke. Thank you
Thank you. I actually use Aussie Moist as a pre-po prior to washing my after I’ve gotten a silk press. It helps me regain my natural curls and shine then i wash and condition as normal!

Omg when I tell you. Honey. Chile. Garnier's whole blends honey shampoo and conditioner. Is EVERYTHING. IT IS EVERYTHING. I am 4c low porosity. My wash days are so easy since finding this I have been natural 6 months. I came across this shampoo about 2 months after starting my journey. I've been hooked ever since. I literally stock up on that stuff. I am so going to try it as a leave in. Didn't know the conditioner could be used that way. Thank you for sharing
Oh my goodness. I love, love, love Trader Joe’s Nourish Spa Conditioner. So much moisture and slip!!! I’ve used it for years. I use the shampoo also. Only $2.99 at Trader Joe’s. Before that it was the Suave Almond and Shea Conditioner. So much slip but It itched my scalp. It was the shea butter and almond. Nuts doesn’t work well with my scalp. Thank you for sharing this list. ❤
Thank you for this fantastic video! I have a question about the Garnier Honey Conditioner. I saw in its ingredients list that, apart from cetearyl alcohol (which is fatty, so good!), it contains plain “alcohol”, “isopropyl alcohol” (which is rubbing alcohol, no?) and “benzyl alcohol,” which I did not see on the list of fatty/good alcohols. Are these ingredients not drying to the hair? Thanks again so much!
Great question! The effect of the ingredient all depends on the % in the formula. Those alcohols are in the formula at less than 1%, not enough to dry the hair out. ☺️
Okay. My one conditioner will be and still is Aussie miracle moist conditioner. But my ride or die deep conditioner that i use for everything is crecepelo. Sorry these two are a must in my life.
I have the Aussie Moist and Trader Joe's conditioner at home. I'd take the TJ conditioner on the island along with some honey and olive oil to mix in it 😄
I’ve learned a lot from watching your video’s. The one on hygral fatigue was especially helpful. However my hair does not respond well to gels, humectants or silicones. They all dry my hair out. I tried the one by Pantene and the next day by hair was the opposite of moisturized. It was like a Brillo pad. I don’t know what is up with my hair, I‘ve been struggling with it since I went natural, 4 years ago. Can you do a video on products for hair that doesn’t respond well to silicones. My hair is a mix of high and low porosity.
I seen so many high reviews on the Garnier conditioner and I want to try it. I already use the Garnier Curl nourish line and love it. Thanks for this video! 🥰
🤗🤗 Hello, and thank you Curly Chemistry for the video! So the one hair conditioner I would bring on the island that I've been using so far is Shea Moisture Manuka Honey Intensive Hydration Moisturizer Hair Conditioner. This moisturize my high porosity hair SOOOOOO GOOD👍🏾!!
Yes, the Garnier products are really good; I use the avocado and Shea conditioner(and I love the feel Soo much) no breakage or shedding. I use the avocado oil replacement too as a prepoo and detangler when taking down my 4c low porosity hairdo.

Thank you so much for share this AFFORDABLE top 5 conditioners. I will try Suave for 2 reasons : the 2 cationic and because I noticed that my hair respond well with sweet almond oil.
I loved the nourish and spa conditioner but it's discontinued 😔 I will some of your other recommendations. Appreciate all your videos!🥰
I love the pantene gold series 🙌🏾. Miche Indulge
Hey could you review the black owned brand as well ? Thank you for what you do !!!
Of course! 💜
Your hair is lovely. The only 1 I've tried is Aussie. I'll give the others a try. The trader Joe's 1 probably not (outside my vicinity). The others, I should have no problem finding/getting. Thanks for sharing!
I use the Aussie for a prop sometimes as well. Really great product. I'm gonna check out the natural Pantene line soon.
Love 💕 this informative vid! My favorite conditioner has all three…..Herbal Essence Rose Hips
Thank you for this❤. Do you also have one on deep conditioner? I would bring the suave conditioner based on your review.
I'll be going to the store for 4 out of 5 of these suggestions that u've made because I don't have a must have. Can you do one in 2022 for hair gels please?!
Camille Rose Coco Water Deep Conditioner
Thanks for the video. I'm happy that I do use 2 that you recommend. Aussie cost a little less than the Pantene gold series
I def love watching your videos because you explain the science behind what we do and shouldn't do with our natural hair. 💯 I'm a fairly new subscriber and I'm struggling with taking care of my hair after it's been heavily heat damaged from a silk press. Do you have a video on tips or advice on how to handle this. Thank you! 🤗
If I had to take on conditioner with me it’d definitely be my own homemade conditioner made with clays butters and humectants 🥰

I really like your videos and the information you've given has been so helpful to me. Thanks. Oh, and your hair looks beautiful just like you!!!
Thank you! 💜💜
Greetings so glad that I found your channel. Up until now I didn’t know that some of the ingredients in products that I cannot pronounce can be so good for the hair…Definitely new subscriber and thanks for sharing this information. ✅
I’d take the Giovanni 50:50 Hydrating Calming Conditioner.
Great choice!!
I got on a natural hair ‘blog’ (am I using that right?) and the topic of ‘alternative’ hair products came up when “Ovations” treatment was broached and the alternative was Eqyss Mega Tek horse hoof and tail conditioner. I’m not sure how the ingredients translate to humans but it was cheaper than the Ovations and worked outstanding! That’s the conditioner I’ll be taking with me to the island. I’d love to hear your thoughts on animal products for humans because I also use the Eqyss Survivor super detangler. Thanks for sharing some of your expertise for free.
Hey gurl great video so informative.... could you do a video on how to thicken the hair? Thea morning you in advance
Sure! I have a video on that topic that I did awhile ago, but I need to update it. :-)
Hola!!!!!😍
My Treseeme conditioner will be with me on that island girl......my tresses loooooove Treseeme.
