Totally agree! The brand is doing exciting things but maybe trying to play it too cool when it comes to availability and accessibility - great video thanks!
I like SU, but Moser collaboration was a kick in the teeth. I spent an hour at work waiting, then watching the stupid video with the three of them padding their egos and drinking champagne and then only to find that the $600 watch isn’t attainable without buying the $60,000 watch. Only someone with a lot of disposable income is going to buy two very similar watches. The salmon watch was ok. But the egg thing?!?! Who thought of that?! I’ve had several opportunities to buy a watch. I have still kept my money in my pocket. Let’s see what comes up next.
It makes sense that SU would introduce more models with a graduation of quality and hence a graduation of price. Series 01: £500, Series 02: £800 and Series 03: £1700. It's a natural progression as they look to increase their average profit per watch. You can't really fault them for that. The Moser & Cie colab is a marketing gimmick, nothing more. Don't let it concern you too much.
That price is wild. I like the creativity of SU but I would not buy one. Doesn't seem like good value at present. I think you have a great point. If they could have offerings at different prices it would be more accessible.
I think it is unfortunate that they are so creative and but they seem to have lost sight of how to message their brand clearly. But appreciate the comment and am glad you enjoyed the video.
@@watch-this-official Perhaps you are right. Maybe their success has made them think its okay to raise their prices but not stock older models... Take care friend!
I disagree. He is building the brand, and is improving the quality with every step, in line with notoriety. You don’t know where he wants to go, you make assumptions. Staying dirt cheap forever when producing low numbers is not a path to success. He can’t ramp up numbers, he’d never be able to compete on price once he gets bigger. So he has to do it on quality and perceived brand value. Sorry you feel left behind, but being liked by a bunch of influencer gate-keepers is not a viable business plan.
That is exactly the opposite to what I said, I totally agree that staying below €1000 is not a recipe for success. I would love to think I could influence anyone, but I doubt SU even know I exist. I don’t feel left behind at all. What I said was that some of the comments I have seen online seem to show that some people feel left behind. I totally agree with you about the need to create more upscale options but the messaging of this is what I feel has been lost in all the noise. But I appreciate your perspective on this.
Hmm… isn’t it just a series 01 with a different movement for 3x the price? Or what am I missing? Also, look at todays CW collab launch at €300 cheaper than the SU. SU need to offer more to justify the price increase, surely. But I do agree that having model availability would help so everyone can access the models they want.
@jamietyoung on the surface it is very like the series 001 and I think that has been an interesting choice. If they had created a new design language for the series 003 I am sure it would have been more obvious why it was more expensive. I agree that CW does look like a far better offering at this new price point in terms of spec and finishing.
I bought a Mint Choc Chip. And, to be clear, I like it! It is fun and different and...... I would not go back and buy another. It came with a strap so short it barely let me do it up. Yes, my wrists are not the tiniest ever seen, but I have never bought a watch (and I have 30 or so!) with a strap THAT short before! Then the crown: too small. Way way too small - remember this is a manual wind watch, so you need to grip that thing and wind it up. And what worries me is that neither of those things is hugely subjective. If I didn't like the colour or the dial or the finish etc - that is indeed debatable. But strap too short and crown too small? They survey you after purchase. I mentioned these things and their response? They did not agree. So there it remains! Nice looking, but not ever going for a second one. Regardless of how fun it looks.
That sounds like it wasn’t the best experience, for my part I have the Pink Lem0nade and have not an issue. But it is not cool if they have not taken your feedback on board. At the very least a new longer strap should have been sent out o you.
