I didn't realise how much 5G Standalone progressed in the UK, let alone EE being able to achieve 4CA with 5G SA. So far no further word of any 5G Standalone here in Ireland since Three announced its 5G Standalone trial back in January 2024. I look forward to part 2.
Great summary. The Sub6 5G Radio interface definitely had a good year, but the productization and uptake of 5G network features above and beyond increased capacity is still struggling. Being actively worked on for sure, but struggling IMO.
I wish 5G (on Three) was more reliable where we are in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Some days I test 300/30 (UL/DL) then other days it's lucky to test much over 10/1. For the time being Starlink is the only other option here. Thanks for all the information, much of it I didn't fully understand but it's inspiring me up get more gen'd up on this!
Anatel truly did a great job in the 5G auction here in Brazil; there's no denying it! Meanwhile, folks in the UK are just now getting standalone (SA) 5G, while we've had it since 2022. And to make matters worse, their spectrum is fragmented, with multiple 40MHz n78 carriers. What a mess!
Now thats what i call Nerding 2024! 💯👌
you have trainspotters then you have hotspotters 😂

Great work Peter thank you for keeping us in the loop ❤
Keep doing you great work and happy New Year :)

It's impressive they are doing SA in rural... wish we had N78 here
Finally! A great informative channel. Consider me subscribed! Great work, Peter.

I would love your take on ast space mobile, starlink direct to cell and apple/globalstar (currently has sms via satellite in the USA)
awesome work as always, I look forward to the part 2 video on small cells, also would like to hear how 3 is getting on with their 5G rollout.
Three at the moment is only Non-standalone (NSA) for 5G still.
Why are the uplink speeds looks so low? Am I missing something?
Almost none of them were intentionally pushing traffic over uplink as the overlays state.
🙂
