That Ferret Mullet Die Cut cover is absolutely insane. I cannot believe it got made. Now I have to find the Malibu Sun to have his first appearance?! How deep does this rabbit hole go? When I was in middle school I went on a Hawaiian cruise with my family. At our (group assigned) dinner table one of the families was the Botta family. if memory serves, their daughter (who was not with them but a son my age was) worked for Malibu and I believe she was the colorist for the Ferret. Every time I see those books pop up somewhere it reminds me of that family. Sadly I lost touch with the son a couple years later. Definitely feels like a small world sometimes.
So now we know what George Lucas was reading before he wrote Star Wars. Cool Underground comics and in great shape! Fun to see Patton Oswalt's name on that Barfly comic.
On youtube free last year I say a Mad Max Gorge Miller influences from other movies many I own on disc and very familiar with so yes comic books and other media can influence later classics.
Ok. One absolutely awesome LB Cole comic and a bunch of huh? books. Although I did check my inventory and was surprised to see I have a copy of the Cole book. Yay!

That Malibu Sun #17 might be a variant cover. The League of Comic Geeks web site shows a different cover for #17 with the character Supreme on it.
