    It’s extremely painful and expensive. It really made me not want to continue treatment after 4 sessions. Even with a numbing cream, it was almost intolerable. 😔 I saw some new growth but not enough to justify the cost and the trama.

    Hi guys! Love the show. I have undergone 2 sessions of PRP in the last two months and there is one thing that bugs me! The doctor insists on drawing ONLY 6-7ml of blood (for all patients and not just me) which, from my understanding, is not enough! How much of Plasma must be ideally injected because I feel 7ml blood would clearly not give out enough plasma

    I've started this new filler treatment for my face and neck called Profhilo, which is basically just injecting pure moist (hyaluronic acid) into the skin. I don't know why, but suddenly I noticed that my beard got much thicker, grew much faster, and became much darker after my Profhilo treatments. Maybe this could be something to try on the hair on my head aswell?

    • @Pwanx0w
      @Pwanx0w 4 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      lol it's not with speculations that you increase life expectancy by around 30 years, reduce infant death rates to near 0% when it was like 25%, make severe ilnesses dissapear with vaccines etc. And i'm only talking about medicine. If you look at science in general as you say, there is even less speculation.

    • @ThrivingwithOneil
      @ThrivingwithOneil 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Pwanx0w great point but that’s not all tied to science. There are numerous changes in society that have aided this progression. John Hopkins noted years ago that the 3rd leading cause of death in the U.S. is medical errors. Not withstanding all the good that science and medicine has done. It’s just good to be aware of both sides of the coin. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and insight.

    • @Padam91
      @Padam91 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Science is not really speculative in itself, but when you study a complex system like the human body you will encounter the challenge of attribution. In other words, what other things could explain correlation or lack thereof. It is true, however, that we don't have an absolute certainty about anything in life, but that is not an argument against science.

    • @ThrivingwithOneil
      @ThrivingwithOneil ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Padam91 Great point! I'm not arguing against science. What I'm saying is that the price is absolute and precise, but the science is not. The argument could be that the economics should align with the science, but that is not the case. I could have articulated that better in my original commit. Thank you for the insight.

    Great video. I’m interested in PRP treatment though it is so cost inefficient as you will require x3 maintainence injections to keep the hair that has grown with this method a year. That’s $2,500 year, for the rest of your life. Alternatively, along with Finasteride and Minoxidil, you could swap out PRP for Microneedling at home with a proper $300+ pen, and perform once a week with 1.5mm needles. This works in such a similar way as it creates tiny wounds which draw blood to heal the area - and this blood contains growth factors like PRP. Could also consider LLLT and spending $500 on a laser diode hat. These attack the issue from multiple angles and compound the growth benefits. And are dramatically more cost effective for long term use. PRP will cost $2,500 every year for the rest of your life to maintain gains.

      You need 5-6 PRPs in the first year. For maintenance 1-2 is enough. But PRP is not the first step treatment. If you‘ve good results with Minoxidil, Finesterid, Microneedling or other cheaper treatments, then PRP is not necessary.

    In relation to the lack of established PRP administration protocols:
    Some clinics administer PRP treatment by 'smearing' it over the scalp, followed by DermaPen/Dermarolling over the top of the 'smeared' PRP. Is there any evidence that this approach is effective or is it wasteful?
    I would imagine some benefits would be improved patient compliance and that the 'smeared' PRP could be 'carried through' to the appropriate depth with the subsequent DermaPen/Dermarolling. However, this also seems like a waste of the majority of the isolated PRP, not only in terms of 'non-carried through' PRP. Is there any evidence for absorption of PRP through the epidermis?!

    How crazy is it that, in spite of all our technological advancements over the course of millennia, there still seems to be no surefire and/or fully side-effect-free method of completely arresting or reversing hair loss? Seems like in the future -- at least, if humanity doesn't destroy itself -- we are likely to look back on these days with wonder, hopefully having solved the issue by then. It seems like it should be much simpler, less costly, less invasive, less risky, to correct, despite the admitted complexity of the cause(s).

    • @dr.m6152
      @dr.m6152 ปีที่แล้ว

      People do experience follicle shock with microneedling that's mainly because if a derma roller is used aggressively it can stretch the follicles. Prp might cause shedding by pushing out the vellus hair to make way for terminal hair, this is why it's important to have 5-6 sessions of prp for full results

    I'd be curious how this stacks with TRT as I've read studies that say exogenous test use can increase platelet count drastically. It seems like if you have the money, PRP combined with trt or a test cycle can be complementary in the sense that you're increasing your own platelet count drastically and then injecting them all back in your scalp either canceling out the hair loss from the steroids or possibly even stimulating growth depending on other treatments
