So this was originally gonna be the pilot episode of a show that would have been on Adult Swim. However the deal fell through, likely due to conflict of timetables Also, after this video, which was repurposed as part of the Love And War Update, there’s a small chance that when you take a teleporter in casual mode, a piece of bread will spawn and fall to the ground. It’s very low. But, Soldier is 20x more likely to spawn bread when he teleports.
@@Overcaffen8ted Also each class has their own bread that represents their ethnicity or personality. Like spy has a baguette cause he's french and I bel8eve Engi has a piece of texas toast
2:01 Something a little sad about this short is that the original Engineer VA (I think his name's Grant) didn't come back for this or any other tf2 content. But Nolan North does an excellent job as him at least.
Funny thing about mentioning Sniper not being in the animation at all until the end. He was in the background like many other characters, but specifically he was helping train Scout . When Scout is at the Dinner Table and his fork gets slapped across the room into Demo’s eye, you can see the Pyro holding a bottle of wine, and Sniper playing the Saxophone. Lotta little features like that make this video amazing.
Fun fact: there is an in cannon reason why soldier is so dumb. He was already pretty crazy and stupid at the start of the comics and the game, and only seemed to get stupider and crazier as time went on. This is because on some of the maps the local drinking water is full of lead. The team was specifically given water bottles for that reason, but soldier just drank the local water. He has severe lead poisoning. Which only elevated his stupidity
15:30 What happened here is that Pauline and Scout discovered that Archimedes was just fine after getting eaten by the bread monster, so the theory was that if they could jump into it's stomach, they'd be just fine inside of it and be protected from the blast
What I love of this short: you see it before reading the penultimate comic, where they reveal Spy is Scout's bio-father, and you say "Wow, a leader ready to give his final hours and hope to the most annoying member" Then you read the comic and rewatch this: "Wow, a father spending his last hours granting his son's last wish"
@Overcaffen8ted yes and no. Beside it being a popular theory (and slightly hinted, like, in both comics and games, Spy is doing something about "tampering with a DNA test" in the background). Then, throughout the whole final comic series, it's heavily hinted at their deeper relationship, I think even Scout knows it, he just refuses to acknowledge it as the truth. Like... Scout's VA was the first one to make a video about the penultimate issue. He was touched but not at all surprised at the reveal.
0:45 Poor big man... He almost lost control of the car. 0:56 In the game, she gives individual tasks to mercenaries. You might not even hear it if you just play as usual. 1:01 Soldier: "Goodbye Miss Pauling!" "I'm living the van now". 1:07 In the background you can see a door with a combination lock, but as we know, most of the doors here are protected by the password “One, one, one ehh... One!” and if you look closely, the 1 key is the most worn out. There was something similar on the panel in "Meet the Spy", but even there it was not as shabby as here. 1:45 At the wall you can see Demo leaving to get beer using a teleport. 1:51 Me when: I threw the ball to a friend and while trying to catch it, he accidentally pushes it right out the window. 2:00 For some reason, Grant Goodeve was unable to voice the Engineer, so Nolan North voiced him. I also want to once again honor Rick May for his wonderful voice as the Soldier. When he died, VALVe created a monument in the game for a few days and placed it on each of the maps, this is still sometimes added to the game for a couple of days. As he say: "You were good son, real good; maybe even the best." - Rick May/Soldier. 2:46 Medic - says that bread has tumors. Heavy - *eat the sanwich* I adore this silent Russian guy! 3:14 I like the way Heavy behind the Engineer sniffs the sandwich and decides there's nothing to worry about. 3:39 According to the canon, the Soldier and the Demoman are the best friends in the world, which makes me sad that almost none of the animations show this. 4:03 All gangsta until the moment with the bucket. 4:36 Half-Life 2 fans in 2020 remember that Europe will soon be engulfed in revolution. 5:25 I don't know how VALVe finds this talent, but Nathan Vetterlein (Scout) is a great voice actor. He has a TH-cam channel where he even read TF2 comics back in the day. 6:05 He takes great care of his bucket. 6:48 Behind the characters hang pictures with a bunch of spies like our Spy. I also forgot to mention under the previous reaction that in “Meet the Spy” it was possible to understand from the very beginning that Scout was a Spy in disguise because he did not know the password to the door to the briefcase. 8:46 Considering that Spy is Scout's real father, it's funny to see him try to teach him a lesson. 10:14 Classic Scout move: 10:28 I love how you can see that the Spy is ready to laugh, but still restrains himself. 11:13 Behind Overcaffen8ted head you can see that there were someone's corpses in a bag on the motorcycle. 11:28 The Administrator appeared in the background as a celeb in "Meet the Medic" and is also the one who voices orders at the start of each round in the game. 11:36 Hey! This is Demo and Soldier moment! Also very sweet as the Spy watches his unlucky son. 11:52 My favorite frame from this animation: 12:15 - Listen guys! We need to somehow make the moment with the bread and the Soldier make sense! - I propose to make the bread become a huge mutant with tentacles - yes, that’s a good idea! 13:58 I forgot to mention this under the previous reaction, but the Sniper has a bruise on his thumb, which is common among many users of the sniper rifle. There is also a cut on his chest, but when the game first came out it wasn’t there, it was added only after the release of “Meet the Spy” where the Spy left this same cut in a hand-to-hand fight with the Sniper. 14:12 Father of the Year according to the magazine: "The fathers who went out for milk and never came back" 14:33 Rick May had trouble dubbing screams due to his age, so he was voiced by Nolan in this scene. 15:05 This was an image on my desktop for about six years. 15:22 It's very strange, but one day writer Jay Pinkerton tweeted that Miss Pauling was a lesbian and never said anything about it again. And even though he is known for loving to make fun of fans, for some reason this was taken seriously (despite the fact that after that he wrote “Nah, that'd be too simple”), also in the comics of Scout and Miss Pauling there were a couple of cute moments, but on the other hand it gave rise to a bunch of very funny and stupid memes so I don't mind. 16:20 I am sure that he did not take anything with him into battle and went to earn bread with his bare hands. God bless America! 16:40 In the game, she gives each class a task, but Scout is the only one for whom contracts cannot be completed (for the most part), the reason why this is stated so right here. 16:51 I like the way Pyro plays with the little mutant bread. Thanks for reading! I had a lot of fun watching this short film. Thanks to Overcaffen8ted for your reaction to the video! After this, I advise you to watch “End of The Line” - this is the official trailer for one of the old updates for the game (even though it was mainly the guys from the fan community who worked on the animation).
The friendship between Demo and Soldier is specifically team sided. being a strong friendship between the RED Demo and the BLU soldier in the "WAR!" update which pitted The RED Demoman against the Blu Soldier in promotional material as well as in a small comic story. Though The Administrator and Miss Pauling try to sabotage this friendship by lying to the two men they decide to keep their friendship a secret from them and pretend to be bitter enemies. Both have cut/removed voice lines that shared this when dominating said character. one of demo's goes "My greatest enemy is dead! *(he then whispers) we should be friends forever aye?" and one of soldiers being "Dominated! (with him then whispering) I cherish these moments we spend together."
Fun fact: engi did tell soldier to teleport bread earlier in the video. He says soldiers can teleport as much bread as he wants when he and medic give the "bad news," so yes, engi did give soldier an order and premission to basically create the bread monster also the ost for it is i believe rise of the living bread but i could be wrong on that but i doubt that
